what did you fix today

Sounds like you need to adjust the settings, temp set will vary on each installation, I set my controller so fans come on when ambient temp is 25 in my case the setting on my controller is 35 deg.
I think I will have to move the thermo switch , the one I've got isn't adjustable.

Recovered the bottom step on our Hymer, I used skateboard grip sheet,

Bought a soldering iRon in a Chinese shop in Portugal and fixed a dodgy connection on the LED strip in the garage, then fixed a leaking waste master trolley for a guy on site, welded the plastic with the same soldering iRon, so €6.75 already recouped.

Mended the lift out bed support (on the side of one of the sofas). Had a forgetful moment when I tried to reach something from the over cab bed.

Mended our dishwasher, soap dispenser cover has not shut for years, bought new component and fitted myself, includes electrical connections, so pretty lucky to be alive and have it working

Have got 2 spare bits that fell off the door from somewhere but cant see where, but all back together and not leaking :)

But it really is so much easier to just buy a new complete appliance and have someone fit it (y)

Purchased Canary Home Security, but struggling to connect to internet. Anyone know how to disable firewall on router?

The leak in the roof top factory installed electrical box..... muppets never fitted a seal in the lid and the melting snow leaked in, only about 50ml but guess where it went.....

Straight onto the PCB of the main camper computer(n) definite muppetry going on there.....

So 4 hours yesterday was spent drying and sealing and now it all works again.

Also fixed the glovebox catch that had failed and stuck the Tetrax magnetic phone holder on the dashboard, these are super cool.

My infill strip keeps falling out, well I already sika flexed the nearside back in but the offside fell out so I've had to clean it all up to do the same
While at it I found the strip to have acquired a really thick discolouration that proves extremely hard to remove
Out of desperation I just tried some EGR/Carburettor cleaner spray and bingo!!

Tomorrow I'm off to Newark to pick up a new rear corner panel on a wheeler deal.
Last one I bought didn't fit  but pretty sure this is the right one (y)
So I might have a pretty van for Holland :)

I bought these ESSENTIAL fixings over a year ago.

Finally strapped in the heat duct where it leaves the Truma, fed up shoving it back in. Just wrapped a cable tie round it and used another to secure the duct.

Wired inverter into van sockets, second attempt.
2 years ago as a newby, having read all about it I went ahead and put the inverter supply into the magic box in the van.

It went pop!

Because it was supplying everything, inc charger & fridge & flourescents (sp?) ...... it popped, maybe 'cos it was 300w? Luckily only cheap £30 chinese jobbie, but psw.

Rethink and do homework.
Like @Techno 's relay but I am not a sparky!

Anyway, cut into socket feed and put 2 sockets. One fed by ehu and one by inverter. Inverter feed works - tested with socket tester, and we've only had ehu once since october (full timers) so will test later.

Result! Means we can watch a dvd without an extension lead from inverter to speakers and 12v lead stretched too far from cupboard to laptop.

I did something very similar with my ducting between my Webasto heater and floor. The ducting came loose at the floor connection exposing hot and cold water pipes that were being protected by the ducting. I insulated the pipes with self sealing insulation, then used silkaflex to seal the ducting back into the hole in the floor. Supported the ducting with Plastic tie cables then wrapped gaffer tape around the insulation covering the ducting. It looks better and is more protected than when it left Autotrail LOL. I'll get some pictures on in the next couple of days, as did a host of jobs and will include these too.

LOL Darren. That's not like you. I've bought a stand alone 120 W all singing and dancing folding Solar Panel.
How's Lynne.

Fixed the corner of my drop down bed this morning...

Two wood screws no longer gripping in the front wood (attaching it to the metal frame) so I replaced them with nuts, bolts and washers.

Been planning the job for over 4 months.

Took 20 minutes.

JJ

How's Lynne.

Should have had one fitted in maroc Phil lol.
Lynne is more sober than me - I have had cheese and port and port! No mistake there, and Lynne is still counting the cals. Sometimes lose her when she turns sideways!
See you both soon. Love to Mena, big hug for you!!!

Removed and re-sealed my large Heki roof light and fitted a new internal surround as the old one was cracked all over the place.
Considering it been leaking for a while (I thought it was condensation) it was all in very good condition.

LOL You are funny. God help you if Lynne ever reads your posts. Incidentally, we stopped in Irun and purchased some port in 5 ltr containers for 13 € a jug. It's good stuff and will definitely make a call next time going to Spain or Moroc.
I thought about fitting another S.P. in Maroc but my Sargent system does not lend itself to receiving more than 10 Amps from a S.P. through it's system, so bought this which has it's own controller and put in some snap connections to the leisure batteries and can connect direct. I think it will give me another 4 + Amps when connected and exceed all my charging needs.

Been doing loads of jobs since we got back and spend days removing Moroc dust from the van.
Mena wants to know where you are and looks forward to being in your company again.
|just off to Burton upon Trent to pick up car for my son in law who has his own car selling business. Happy to report he is doing well.

I (usually) read them out to Lynne to cover myself!
We are in Portugal just past Tavira. Been in the country now for 2 1/2 weeks and still only done about 25km since Spain. Stayed at 4 or 5 spots but enjoying it all slowly.

Cleaned our water tank of most of the morrocan sand in Manta Rota!
See you both soon.

Turn buckle fitted to drawer. No more flying crockery when out and about and only took a minute or so. If I attempted to actually sort out the drawer catch the air would be blue as it is in an awkward position. £3 well spent.
Another option for fly-away drawers is a child-proof catch. They fit inside the drawer and only allow it to open an inch or so until released. Their big advantage is that they aren't visible with the drawer closed. Like this:

Didn't I do well £200 and a trip to Newark

OK as promised the list of jobs with pictures I completed after our Morocco/Portugal trip.
After putting my thumb through the fly screen in the shower, I eventually decide Gaffa tape was only going to be4 a temp job and by pure luck spotted nylon fly screen material for sale in Tafroute and as cheap as chips.
So armed with a pair of scissors and a hot glue gun borrowed from my Son-in Law I put in a new fly screen. It works and would have been as good as the factory fitted one if I had another pair of hands when gluing on the fly screen but not to worry, plenty of material left and this does the job we need it to do.

Next Job.
When stepping into the toilet area I tend to stand on the very edge of the toilet floor which is raised from the habitation area. I have noticed in the last year or so that the floor in this are is flexing more and more and I became concerned that if nothing was done it would simple fail and probably end up being expensive or unsightly to repair. So! I decide to take of the surround assuming it was not glued in by Autotrail, see what was underneath and add some support. Well lucky me. The trim was only held in place by 4 screws and came away easily to reveal a clear gap underneath. So took a saw went to my Son in Laws football ground and cut a dod of wood from the clubhouse that was more or less 8 X 3" then got my trusty plane out and shaved it down so it would just in gap then glued it in place. Brilliant! Floor is now firm with no give and clubhouse still standing.

When I bought the motorhome it came with quick release battery terminals on both sets of Batteries and whilst these are easy to connect and disconnect I recently found out that on mine they can also disconnect, without my prior permission, when subject to vibration.
So, whilst surfing the web in Moroc came across these and purchased them before I arrived home and put them on both sets of batteries last week. A much better job in my view and space to add more. I now have in addition to the normal leads connected to the batteries, my Inverter and my Solar Panel snap connector.

My bathroom door is a plastic tambour affair which is fine, lightweight and does the job it's designed to do. However, it closes on a runner that does not ensure the male door lock is an exact mating fit with the receiving female part on the fixed jamb. this has resulted in the plastic housing that holds the receiving bit becoming cracked over time to the extent that it (the receiving bit) fell off and prevented the door from being locked. (Us guy's need our security and privacy when reading on the bog!).
So! I thought about this for a couple of weeks and attacked the jamb one afternoon in Moroc and cut out the cracked section and was left with a hole about 3 x 1". Off to the clubhouse for another bit of wood and spent a long time shaving it down to get a good fit then drilled some holes so the male part could be received ionto the lock and glued it into the recess and used a bit of Gaffa tape (as you do) to finish off.
Result, fully functioning lock (Playboy's back on order) and Mena happy with décor.

When in Maroc, I noticed the trim on top of the bog door had come loose. So, armed with a bit of super duper epoxy glue from Poundland stuck it back on. Another job well done, looks just like it did when we bought it.
