What are you up to this weekend?

Out for a nice ride on my bike today, possibly up to the sailing club tomorrow for a nosey around and a morning flight on Monday out to Rome to bring back the Mercedes. My son in law owes me big time........ it is his car!!

There may or may not be detours via car museums in Italy, France and Germany on the way back, plus picking up some decent vino en route... just hope the crankshaft sensor behaves itself........
Would one consider supplying pictures and commentary as one progresses?????;)

Family gathering on Saturday. Sunday will be a mammoth dog walk and then riding my horse.

No plans for our next MH trip yet! :crying:
what does a mammoth dog look like then?????

Resealed all the 5 roof lights on my van and stuck on the last solar panel and started the wiring inside to connect the solar panels to the batteries. That kept me fully amused today!

Clay Pigeon Shooting tomorrow in the morning followed by a family lunch at daughter's as its her birthday soon.

Was having a nice wkend in the peaks on the bikes around Derwent water, went to Castleton to rest for the night only to find a couple of other motorhomers there who had got out a barbeque in between the two vans and was getting pizzed, shouting urinating at the side of the road, the buety of wild camping I suppose... needless to say we moved on, glad I didn't pay £30 on a campsite to have to put up with that..

Found a shell garage twenty minuets from me that does LPG so tomorrow i will fill both bottles for the first time(y)

Haha fell out with him at on arrival as he whinged I had, arrived 30 mins too early .told him if he wasn't happy with it to cancel my booking and give me my money back as I don't need any verbal from an employee...he muttered and walked off . I have emailed the club about his attitude..

Ha ha wait till I tell Sandy that one she will love it

We were supposed to be at Meadow Farm, Henley with the Camping and Caravanning Club, Royal County of Berkshire DA meet, but after wandering around the site this morning with Dawn @Mousy and chatting with the Marshall, we find out that we are actually at the Swiss Farm International meet with the British Caravanning Club (London Thames Valley and Wiltshire Section)! :Eeek:

On the way here on Friday, we were happily following Dolly Daydreams directions, when I spotted a C & CC sign, before she had said "You have reached your destination" - but as she's made so many mistakes in the past, we automatically thought - she's messed up again, and turned into the field. John welcomed us with open arms and before I knew it, I'de handed over £21.50 and bought 2 raffle tickets!

I thought it was odd, because the advert had said it was £14 per night, so being quids in we pitched up - and it's been a lovely weekend.

We've since found the site we should have been in, which was closer to the river, but farther from the town. We may have been a bit closer to Shirley, but we were so busy catching up on gossip, we wouldn't have done her justice anyway! :)

One might........... just because you asked nicely. The Merc broke down big time yesterday but the consensus is that the high temperatures, engine load and mountain passes caused the crankshaft sensor to alarm, resulting in the control panel lighting up like a Christmas tree and a complete stop. Son in law got his code reader out, saw what the problem was and the breakdown people will check it out this morning. Hope it isn't terminal

:giggler:.......but are you due back by a certain date?????
Nope......

Just had a conversation with SIL...... they are stuck on the campsite at the moment and everywhere is shut today. everyone is pretty sure that it is just the sensor that is goosed, so they will try and fix it tomorrow and drive straight down to Rome, missing out a few waypoints. I'm not going to check in for my flight until I know the car is working; the only cost will have been £25 for the airmiles ticket if they have to get the RAC to recover the car (that was plan B)

Otherwise I might be back in UK about 20th or thereabouts

4 broke down yesterday, including the Merc but all are running now (just). I think the Triumph Dolomite had a major problem with anything other than straight slow roads so they are already in Rome. 39 starters and I think 38 still running......sort of. Several cars beached in small ditches, tree damage for a couple, one replaced clutch and a few other bits.......

Edit. Alex got the Merc running again but it needs a new sensor. They are heading for the tonight's campsite and will sources something tomorrow

Oh yes, she is annoyed with Alex's brother for bending the car (twice) once hit the barrier at the peage and then smashed the wing mirror on another car. He lacks a certain amount of spatial awareness.......

I would highly recommend the Mercedes Museum and factory in Stuggart really is a great day out.

It is on the list. I'm staying in Stuttgart on the way back specifically to visit the museum. Apart from the E430, until recently have driven Mercedes for years.

Moved my Mother in Law out yesterday, she is going to a new flat. Tried to sell a couple of boxes of tat on Gumtree for £10 last week but no one could be bothered to collect it, so I took it to a boot fair today and made £160!

You'll love it then, once you've walked round the museum go to the showroom it's massive and they're very friendly and helpful even allowing my 13 year old to sit in a lovely brand new sports Merc can't remember the model but it was priced at over €100,000 . Also have a meal in the resturant it subsidised by Mercedes for the workers and really is top quality food.

This weekend I have been filling in my forms to get a C1 licence and a medical. With some luck and if the Doctor checks me out ok I can have my C1 (Heavier van) licence back after almost five months without being able to drive and drive to Norwich and Malvern Shows then south to warmer places... Yipee!
