Well that’s my five month holiday gone for a burton,

Unfortunately not, 🤬. bringing it back for insurance purposes, very tempted to leave it but as I had just rebuilt it I may buy it for salvage, nor did my Honda generator that I converted to gas for this trip,
All in all a ghastly end to our trip that we had planned since April,
But would like to say a massive thanks to the guys from Rebollo at area 103 on the A2 motorway,
They couldn’t have been more helpful ,

ivorantony That looks one heck of a good job from what we saw in the original damage photos.
You should be very proud of your achievement and I wish you both well on your return travel , and in sorting the insurance to your satisfaction, including the loss of your actual holiday.

As already said a very impressive repair indeed. Remember all the planning is still there on the back burner ready to roll with once you get your van sorted.

Wishing you a safe journey home.

Really great results being so capable makes me wonder if your interested in buying Motorhome back off insurance company for parts
You mentioned I think you loved it so perhaps getting the same van that might not be so nice

This morning travelling serenely down the A12 towards Madrid, at a nice steady 90 kph, roads all but completely empty
This Nut in a Renault Megane falls asleep at the wheel and promptly writes off my Motorhome,
To say I’m gutted is an understatement, we had planned a 5 month trip including Morocco,
Now need to get the old girl home, so looks like it’s a winter at home for us this year,

Looking at the photos it looks like you were you on the hard shoulder at the point of impact. My thoughts is it will be written off due to the damage and cost of repatriation unless they repair it out there. Any accidents are stressful enough let alone one in a foreign country. I hope you get it sorted quickly and are able to salvage some of your holiday. Good luck moving forward.

No Glenmci I wasn’t, …..I was on the N/S lane doing 90 kph with not another car in sight when suddenly massive acceleration catapulting me to the outside lane next to the clash barrier,
Manage to steer my van with the other car firmly wedged in my rear ( very painful)
back to the small hard shoulder,

Ok for you lot that are curious on my progress, my trailer board hadn’t arrived today so at least one more day here, probably good because I want to try and get my high level lights working together with the board,
So I’m still tidying her up some more so bare that in mind, first pic is the worse side, then rear then near side, I have driven her around the yard and that’s fine, but obviously the true test will be on the road,
And yes I will refit the O/S lights and probably get them working although all the wiring was ripped out of there connectors.
And on a positive note today was a glorious one, wall to wall sunshine and 20C had to shed clothes to keep working,

All I can say is your amazing ...after all your Trauma you did all of this . I think it kept you busy and active you have shown us all what you can do when everything looks bad you can turn it around ...stay a few more day and enjoy the sunshine and take a well deserved rest..God bless you . You are my hero

My SiL and husband had their car rear window broken in Spain by a burglar. He could not find a replacement quickly enough so fixed it up himself but nothing like the extent of yours obviously. When they arrived at Plymouth on the ferry the Border Guards emptied the car out and suggested they might be looking for sympathy!

Only just seen this thread. What an awful business ivorantony but thank goodness you are both OK.

Your work to patch up the van is astonishing, quite staggering - very well done!

Hope you have a safe journey home and can get everything sorted without too much pain.

Good luck. đź‘Ť

As my old dad used to say, "Once the car has had a bump, it's never the same again!"

I'm glad you are okay though.

If that was our van, I would be in tears for weeks, because, like everyone on here, it's your pride and joy.
Absolutely devastating!

To be honest when I have seen some vehicles put on a jig they are more aligned sometimes than when new

For anyone interested we have finally arrived home, last couple of days have been slow due to fog and rain in France, the van performed fine, albeit we drove back slower than normal,
I would also like to thank Chesterfield Hooligan for his generous offer of transporting our goods back from Spain if I couldn’t get her mobile,
Our morale was at rock bottom at the time and his offer was just the boost we needed,
Now begins the necessary dialogue with the insurance to reach a satisfactory resolution,
Many thanks to everyone that gave us positive support when we needed it most,

I would have thought his insurance would have to pay for a hire motorhome or replacement.

Great to see ivorantony - albeit not where you were planning to be.

Good to see your repairs got you home safely and I hope the claim side of things goes smoothly.

Sorry that you're not where you planned to be right now, but that's life!

chesterfield hooligan - so pleased to hear of your offer. That's the spirit!

Hope the rest of the saga goes well (y)

Well done, I'm very happy to be proved wrong (y)

Best of luck with the insurers.

Very glad to see that you've arrived back home, must be a relief but sad too.

Hope everything goes smoothly with the insurers.

Will you keep us updated please?
