Welcome back pounds & ounces

I mix old and new.
I weigh food in kilos and grammes, but my own weight is in stone (far too many)
Measure length in inches, feet, yards and miles
Drink in pints but buy derv in litres
Pressure is in PSI
Temp for weather and oven is in Celsius

I don't see it as some sort of reclaiming of heritage, or anything like that. Metric is far simpler, but I rather like the fact that your middle finger joint is an inch. A handspan is nine inches. A cubit (tip of elbow to tip of middle finger) is two cubits, or a foot an a half (unless you have ape arms).

Imperial and metric can easily live side by side. All it takes is for folk to not get aerated about it!

Great to see that we're keeping up with our trading partners....

And also, 250 miles feels a lot closer than 400 klicks My heart sinks at European distance boards on the peage.

Agreed and well said. Still it does give the UK bashers something to focus on whilst rather important world issues are being dealt with!

Don’t use cash so the money thing won’t bother me.
I work in a timber yard we can tell what length or size a piece of timber is without measuring it in metric or imperial so that won’t bother us either.
As for the gallon litre thing you fill the tank to the top and wince at the price.
I remember when the quantity went up faster than the price unlike today when the price wizzes so fast you can’t see it

I am sticking to metric, except when I weigh myself, still using stones  and still using miles on my Samsung Galaxy Watch :whistle2: What??!! confused and dazed !! pour me another pint :giggler: or better still a litre :giggle:

When did you last see anything measured in rods, poles, or perch’s? No,I thought not!

Another daft idea to distract the common man (and woman and any other gender including those not yet invented).

Boris is just the bulb the moths are drawn too! There are rather more important things being dealt with!

The cost of anything like that will just cost business so much.
And who will pay for it is the consumer my mother had a shop in the sixties seventies when it changed over.
It cost her a small fortune changing tills scales and all the other stuff.
Daft idea.

What’s the point?
Majority who were brought up on imperial are either now retired or coming up for retirement in next 10yrs.
Those who had to endure converting from imperial to metric at school have years left to work, not to mention those who have learnt metric and nothing else since.
Virtually every vehicle these days are metric fittings. I can’t remember getting my imperial / whitworth spanner’s out on my vehicles.
Same with weights and measurements in the kitchen.

Cannot see any gain except to distract from other issues and try to enhance the Kuodos of self. We all work in mixed units so can’t see that changing. Plus would be nice to show some consideration for the younger generation who only know metric, they are our future, give them a chance rather than trying to pander up to us oldies

It was mooted it was to be a gift for "Brenda" on her Jubilee weekend, which seems odd as she's mostly interested in nags, and their measured in hands, and bought and sold in Guineas, pure circus, and the bread is coming care of the energy cost hand out.
Mike.

This has got to be a joke right? Can't believe anyone is nostalgic for something so utterly without benefit and which would incur a ridiculous amount of cost to business. And if the only reason is a sense of Britishness then bear in mind lb (the shorthand for pound) originates from the Roman unit of weight - libra.
What cost to business? As I understand it he is not telling us to revert to imperial. He is simply removing the law that forced us to go metric. Shops have a choice which to use or can use both.

That is one thing I loved in Europe. How fast the distance seemed to fall :D
