Very unhappy purchasers!

Attn Theonlysue.
No doubt you have been reading the responses from members regarding your unfortunate problem and your planned demonstration. Some members in an agreement with you and some suggesting a more DIY approach or acceptance by you to some of the smaller issues you have mentioned.
It would be interesting to hear your thoughts so far.
I can sympathise with you regarding some issues but a demonstration is not going to sort the problems.
A constructive meeting with the dealer is the way forward.
I'm not sure Theonlysue is the owner of this van and is just sharing the information. Profile shows she has been a member since 2009 and owns a Hymer.

A lot of businesses use zero hours zero interest workers in peak times. You get what you pay for if you’re only after cheap labour then that’s what you get.
On the other hand if you keep the same monkeys and double their money they are still the same monkeys!!. Its like the public sector when Blair was in power just paid the same people more surprise surprise things really weren't a lot better. Of course since then they have actually cut back the number of workers in the public sector and had a prolonged wages freeze.

I've just realised that this is the same guy, and the same van that parked outside their premises a year ago. Like I said in an earlier post a year is too long to spend angry. If he were a friend of mine I'd be trying to persuade him to give it a rest and go and enjoy his van.

Certainly getting about??

You have to give him credit for not giving in and again I admire him , then again as you say life is to short, and this Funsters is why I have this avatar. ?

On our last motorhome I used to complain not to the dealer) that Ibhad to Dorward recline the drivers seat in order to swivel it.

Then someone showed me (after about a year) that I just had to adjust the steering wheel in. Doh!!!!

But may be if they paid decent wages and training they would get better workers, or may be for the odd payout it’s cheaper to use cheap labour

Wether he is a moaning old git, obsessed or just a regular guy, thing is he paid for the motorhome with his hard earned cash, I wonder how many of the pounds he passed over were of the same quality as the motorhome they gave him?
I pretty certain everyone was 100% ok.
So why should he accept an inferior and poor quality product?

When my mate worked for Datsun in the North East, every X number of cars through, they would get a 5 min break. So on the X -1 car through, he would put in only the bear minimum screws in the boot lining and scatter the rest under the holes; - so it looked like they "fell out" if noticed. This would then give him 6 min break. Later he joined the Navy and didnt know what long hours were. didn't last long!! He used to say "you do a mundane repetative job and not cut corners".

Also piece work if set to low a rate makes people cut corners or take risks. Human nature simple.

I agree, but maybe his approach isn’t one that is getting results.

Possibly needs a different angle ?

I've no doubt they will. If he refuses to leave they will be able to use the minimum force required to eject him. That might require dragging his van away and will they do that?
Never under estimate the power the NEC has to remove vehicles. I worked on shows at the NEC for 10 years and they did not hesitate to move vehicles at their own or organizers request, even our organizers ceo had his car towed but they did bring it back when we pointed out it was a vip. Size is no problem, they are used to moving everything from vans to trucks and it is not always pretty. They usually tow them out to the wettest, furthest car park as well.

My Rapido on sprinter has a folding handbrake lever. Once applied push it down without pushing the button then the seat swivels without going anywhere near it.

Wish I had one of those ?
Think ours is still the original van lever ??

Surely he would of tried going the other way, my drivers chair hit the handbrake but it does pass it without it being let down. I certainly would not be releasing the handbrake at any point just to turn a chair.

Now if he had a Hymer he would be able to push the handbrake down with out letting it of.

Don't understand the hand brake issue. surely you would try turning the seat the other way and not release the handbrake. As has been said before it is a standard seat that is on our Autosleeper and also the Adria we had previously.
I don't think ill be joining him at the NEC though as our van has no issues to speak of.

All hail the Autosleeper Warwick XL.:notworthy2::notworthy2::Grin::dance2:

The need to research your dealer before purchase I feel is as important as the van itself and must not be underestimated. Minor issues turn major when your dealer is poor or maybe its the way they have been spoken to that makes them less interested.
Ive always contacted the service department at Autosleeper and found them to be excellent for advice and sorting problems/issues on our current van along with Geoff Cox Motorhomes we would have no issue buying another if we wanted to change

Having been through in my eyes a similar/worse experience with a new Auto Sleeper from Marquis, I have a great deal of sympathy with this post. Things obviously haven't changed in the last five years, and although I do still have the same vehicle, with hindsight I should have done what a Caravan Club site warden said to me on our first trip out "GET RID OF IT!"!! Although you may get some of the problems fixed or more likely fix them yourself, you will never be satisfied with your purchase. Believe me, unless you are very lucky you will have many more problems, usually from poor/careless installation methods to sort out!
I would never purchase a new van again, no matter what make, they all have problems - my son seems to have got it right, bought an old panel van, making it into what works for him (and her!!), and generally the only bad workmanship is of his own making so "within tolerance"!:madder:
You are a long time dead!
Enjoy life!!!

I agree some of the finishing on this van isn’t great, but at the end of the day it’s a box on wheels that is subject to movement and shakes and rattles.

Rather than spend a year of my life in protests and conflict with the dealer, I would have focussed on him sorting out major issues (not sure there were any?). I would then have then have oiled the hinge, fitted felt pads and rubber grommets to rattling things (most vans have these anyway) and bought some oven gloves if I was taking hot stuff out of the oven. I’d have learned to rotate the seat the other way like everyone else.

I would then stop examining every inch of the van for the tiniest thing, and got on with enjoying it. Life is too short. None of those “faults” were cause for such angst, in my humble opinion.

I guess the satellite dish is an issue though if it has been fitted wrongly.

Funnily enough I have seen £150k vans with the dish fitted the same way, although neater.

What you fail to realise is that his hobby is finding fault not rectifying anything

I am a perfectionist in every thing I build , it really annoys me when something isn’t quite rite , it catches my eye constantly BUT after a month it disappears, you get used to it , then I think what was all the fuss about lol
