Who remembers the ID card debate, it's a slippery slope and one I will not support. Think carefully about mandatory actions required by any state.

I am against vaccine passport imposed by HMG. I think its wrong. I dont believe it is for our HMG to impose upon us a vaccine passport.

I would, however get one, if one was available for me, out of choice.

I would also shun any bar, restaurant, campsite etc that did not ask for proof of vaccination, and would welcome employers who refused to employ people who could not prove they were vaccinated.

I just believe it is not for our Government to impose this upon us and take away the choice of someone to not to go to any bar, restaurant, campsite or go without a job for their opinion of not taking the jab.

I have the NHS app previously mentioned purely to be able to prove I have had a jab, when that time comes

Not according to the scientists they are saying the chances of having Covid are 98.5% against and the chances of transmission vastly reduced.
You do seem to be one of the ones that only see the negative in this.

What makes them think vaccine passports will be forged anymore than any other document?

Have they? That's good. Perhaps they should push for more 24 hours ones if they want to keep progressing with more people and keep up with giving everyone who has already had their first jab their second dose. That's assuming they can staff them and get enough vaccines.

Our daughter volunteered to be a vaccinator on Saturday, was interviewed Monday, did the paperwork training on Tuesday with St. Johns and passed. She has the practical on Saturday and if she passes that she will do 5 hours per week at the local vaccination centre. Bit of a change from her normal role of a window cleaner!!

The only fly in the ointment might be, what countries are willing to accept visitors with the vaccine passport if Covid can still be spread by that group?? Probably still going to need a clean test sheet, before travelling, and quarantine on return, till a test gives the all clear. The alluded to result in 5 min test will be a must before any sense of " new " normal travel can realistically be resumed.

I don’t see why this particular illness warrants a “passport”? if you have to have Covid passport, why not a measles passport or a influenza passport ?
I think we’re considering the wrong question ...the real question is should vaccines be required by law

My mate and his along with all others being vaccinated were forcefully told that it did not prevent them catching it but if they did they wouldn't probably know .

They were suggesting vaccine passports for Uk citizens to allow tourism.The elephant was the fact that they failed to see that a majority of those arriving would have had the AZ jab & a "vaccine passport" to that effect which really was ludicrous when they won't use the AZ vaccine on anyone over 55 here at the moment de to the lack of trials showing it actually works on the older person.But we want to let them in witha "passport" ??

Anything printed is open to counterfeiting so it would have to be digital. It could be within the app and on the passport now they're electronic. If you've had the jab why wouldn't you want to prove it?

It's called your mobile phone, which tracks you all day every day.
We recently acquired the phone of a deceased relative, we have tracked exactly where he went day by day over the last two years, which has told us how to find a certain property

Plus many cars come with trackers, which even if you don't activate them, they are still tracked by the company

This is traced by the bank. If your card suddenly appears spending money in a place you have not been before, especially if 20 minutes earlier you were somewhere 200 miles away, then you will get a call before they block your card.
I found this out when I paid for a round of drinks in a pub in Cornwall and then apparently bought a load of clothing from a shop in Sheffield. The Bank called, ascertained the Cornwall drinks were real and the shop in Sheffield was not, and put a stop to my card instantly (which as I was on holiday was a bit annoying, they would not even let me get in another round!)

However......
Please do not expect to get a job with other people,
or be unreasonable enough go to your local pub,
or be inconsiderate and walk into the local supermarket,
obviously you have self banned yourself from going to a football match or other sports event,
and you will not be leaving the UK anytime soon, as even Northern Ireland will insist of a 'jab passport' before you enter.
As an aside any health insurance or Life Policy you may have will become invalid next year.

I'd also expect you to pay personally should you need to spend a month on the ICU ward with Covid at any point after the end of the year.

The ones refusing the vaccination are only in reality a danger to themselves. If the rest of us are vaccinated we won’t catch Covid from unvaccinated people. I think that companies refusing entry etc to the non vaccinated are covering themselves from the non vaccinated claiming they caught coronavirus on their premises.
I don’t really know how that could happen other than another non vaccinated guest already having Covid and transmitting

Why should issuing something to enable travel abroad be free I wouldn't expect to get a free passeport or dog vaccination!

You can bet your bottom dollar that Sunak will be considering a 'Foreign Holiday' tax in either the budget due next month, or the one due in the Autumn.
What form it might take however is open to interpretation.

No replies to this ...so how's this for another alternative view to the herd.... why should we focus our energy on vaccine passports.. instead of a thinking about how we provide a national health service thats capable of doing what the title implies i.e. dealing with a viral infection that, at its absolute peak, killed a very regrettable but thankfully very modest, 1% of overall infected patients?

Instead of stressing over bits of paper and plastic cards, why not focus our energy on providing a health service thats capable of dealing with the very realistic prospect of a repeat performance of a similar virus....?
