Time for a Globecar

We love our Revolution and it was the only van that would really work for us, but it is one ugly van from the front!

Which extern body colour did you opt for?

Grey, I think the alloys and flush windows help, but it’s still not pretty!

That's exactly it from my perspective too Gerry. We want the pup to have as much space as possible so the Revolution looks to be the best option for a bigger dog.

I also like the extra height which the taller van gives as I'm not exactly a short person, unlike the missus :D
Don't forget that some of the upper cupboard are a bit higher ... might need to buy her a step! :D

Here’s a question ... for new 2019 orders how is pricing structured given no one knows what, if any, tarrifs may be imposed. I’m guessing there could be exchange rate volitility as well, at least in the short term.

but for some reason that I can't father in the Revolution one you lose the transverse top locker across the rear doors.
The locker across the back is removed so you have more space if you're using the bunk in a elevated position
As I've mentioned before it was the extra high roof of the Revolution that made us choose the Globecar that and the lifting bed
I could see it being a real pain though it one of you needed a step to use the high lockers

Ah, an interesting point you make but so far I've made a number of pricing enquiries to various dealers (as you would expect from a tight arse ) and it seems that the MY19 pricing structure will remain very similiar to the 2018 list.

That said, the main variation to the cost of a new Globecar for 2019 is still very much dependent on the following points:

a.) The PX price which a dealer is prepared to give you for your van.

b.) The forecourt price as set by each dealer.

I don't mind sharing this point but too date I have experienced a huge variation in the cost to change my van; there's one particular dealer who tried to rip my eyes out!

All the best,

Andrew

We have our van on order Andrew but found the same. It was over £2.5k cheaper to order than to take one on the forecourt but had I known about the 4 month delay to expected handove4 date,
I might have taken the forecourt model and had some holidays!

We were lucky as we put our order in with SMC and were told that we would have to wait some months for our choice with elegance interior.
2 days later they informed us about a Campscout ready to come off the production line with all our choices but with steel wheels which had been cancelled by a dealer, and did we want it.
We jumped at the offer and only waited about 4-5 weeks to pick up our Campscout, and we just fell in love with our van.

You were lucky indeed John ... ours was due for delivery June was eventually built about 25th September and still waiting for it to be shipped.

Yes, that's very poor, are they offering a little sweetener as a token of not meeting the date?

We had the same with SMC, told it would be end of February when we ordered it and it turned up in May! It wouldn’t have been so bad if they had kept us informed rather than us having to chase.

I've been reading one of the Globecar UK forum articles tonight about the delamination of the wood floors in some MY15/16 Campscouts (In front of the cooker). Is this a common issue as a few people seem to have reported the problem.

... only as a single bed I assume as there are still the side roof lockers to contend with, unless you like to get all 'cosy' with your bed partner and sleep like sardines.:D

Can you let me know where that is please so I can have a shuftie, ta.

We've joined the Globecar and Possl FB club where it is being discussed at the moment Mel.

The picture that was posted shows the entire floor rising in front of the cooker due to delamination issues - it looks quite bad. A few of the guys have experienced the same problem while one chap has mentioned that his floor is really squeaky so there must be some issue present.

The delamination problem seems to take effect at the two year point once the vans have experienced a bit of wear and tear, but that's just my take on things.

The Globecar & Possl FB forum guys are some of the friendliest that we've ever come across on a forum so it's well worth joining.

;)

John.

Are your windows flushed with the bodywork John as they look very smooth against the body - Very cool.

I could be wrong but I've only seen the windows that puff out a bit.

Am I just looking at things at the wrong angle or do you have different windows to most.;)

Yes Andrew mine are flush and still double glazed, but I think only the elegance models get them.

I've just joined the group but it's hard-going trying to find the bit about the delamination due to all the other stuff posted on there ... is there an easy way to sort out the wheat from the chaff, ie the social photos etc from the more 'interesting' to me anyway, techy/issues stuff? I don't do facebook normally so rather than mess about trying to work it out it would help if someone could give me some tips.

When I first joined it many years ago I got a message to someone had posted on my 'wall' ... I spend ages looking for a 'wall' then someone at work told me it was my page! :D

True for UK vans BUT I've seen them advertised as Elegance abroad but without the flush windows, so I think in the UK Elegance always includes the flush ones, this means that if you buy abroad you need to check if it does get the flush windows as they tend to be sold without 'inclusive packages' there so it could simply be that it has the Elegance interior but not the windows.

I can get to my cupboards without a step. The step up at the table does help
Ah but you're either 'super stretchy' Jez ... or have arms the length of an orangutan :imoutahere:

OOO OOO OOO are you calling an orangutan
... so if you're not an orangutan you must be super stretchy.:D Were you the stunt double for Jamie Bell in the film 'Fantastic Four'?
