THIS week I bought

CCC.. where did you buy the clip on trays? Only problem is if you turn the seats round???

This week I bought a Gas Detector. It's supposed to detect all types of gas and CO, camping gas, monoxyde de carbone and gas narcotiques which is supposed to be this sleeping gas that doesn't exist. Rather expensive 70€. I'm told you can buy similar for your local supermarkets for at £25, Might be a rip of but for something like this I am willing to give it a go. Worth it If it enables us to sleep with piece of mind.

2G/3G/4G MIMO Multiband Waterproof Puck Antenna LTE

Seems like a bargain -- if it works :)

Just the little issue of finding somewhere to drill a 20mm hole in the van's steel roof without detracting from the internal aesthetics!View attachment 211541
Thanks for the info on this, I've bought one and will have a play with it when I get back off holiday (it's going to the FILs house) - I'll fit it on the roof of our PVC so won't have to worry about what direction it's facing and then decide where to run the cable but probably via the solar cable input.

There are loads on Ebay of various sorts and sizes, when not in use they can be removed or fold flat.

Minxi girl....meant whilst parked we turn seats around so if lounging on the long side seats nowhere to clip trays for the g& then or whatever!!!

Read the spec before chucking you lolly at it..
1dB to 3.5dB gain.... so parity ( which given cable and joint loss will become a negative figure ) to 3.5 dB ..... or in cb term, up one 'S' point.

Silver Screen paragon, just had 2 frosty nights in the van and no condensation in the mornings so all good. I also like the fact that I can fold down the front to see out without having to take it off.
Also a Lowenergie caravan/ motorhome eco shower head (Amazon £14.99) not a huge water saving over the one that came with the van but a much better spray pattern, so happy with that too (y)

I brought a brand new set of lock barrels for our B680, fed up walking round with a key set like a jailer, as soon as the weather becomes a little friendlier they’ll get changed
@bigalw35 can you take photos or video of how you do it and the tool needed as i need to change one of mine and they will be the same, thanks Rob

No probs XRN, an absolute doddle, I’ll take some piccies tomorrow, I got the new set (8) from Brownhills, I mentioned that I was a member of “Fun” and he Darren gave me a 10% discount, the situations are all slightly different, but basically the same, all along the barrel you have the key actuators and at the end is a similar spring loaded locking piece, this piece locks the barrel itself in, just push that in with a small screwdriver and the old barrel is out, piccies tomorrow

OK, here are a couple of pics, cant show you any of the procedure as the locks I've already done are back in the Hymer, I'll take some more when I do the next one. Anyway the first piccy is of the two locks, the new and the old, the second piccy shows a little more detail, the slots along the barrel are the actuators that correspond to the key, all in when the key is inserted, and all out when the key is withdrawn, the little brass peg at then end is the barrel locking tab, some where directly above that tab (in the lock) you will see a slot, in that slot will be the locking tab (spring loaded), press that in with a screwdriver/knife and withdraw the old barrel, insert the new barrel into the same position, the black ring is the new weather seal, good luck, but it is easy, I hope this helps

The only problem with that is that it would only 'receive' on that side of the camper, whereas on the roof it would be able to receive from all directions ... I'd be tempted to attach the bracket it is mounted on to the side of a solar panel frame (obviously can't do that with a semi-flex panel!) using Sikaflex or something and just run the small cables through where your solar cable goes if there's room, or alternatively attach it to something else that 'sticks up' already on the roof! :D

Just found a data-sheet on it:

https://www.entrix.co.uk/datasheets/CMO-SpecSheet.pdf

I've been a bit busy for the past week, but finally managed to install the aerial a couple of days ago. Thanks for finding and sharing the spec document -- that is quite handy actually, as I was trying to identify the cable type, which I can see from that is RG174. The reason being is that I want to shorten it to make the installation a bit neater; I've worked with coax cable plenty of times, but nothing that thin (it is about 3mm in diameter) -- so I wanted to make sure I get connectors that will fit the cable.

I’m interested in this,hopefully you will post how this works when you’ve got it fitted.(y)
I had looked at it and thought I would fix it to a piece of ally box section and then stick that to the roof, so only need to drill a smaller hole (I’m thinking for the future as I haven’t got a twin antenna mifi yet)
I've been a bit busy for the past week or so, but finally managed to install the antenna a couple of days ago on the cab roof. I haven't been able to fully test it yet, as I am currently in a part of Norfolk where it is sometimes difficult to even get 2G -- and 4G is just a pipe-dream. However, first impressions are good -- where I am now the van is parked in trees and getting a good 3G signal from Three. In this exact location I could previously only get a 3G signal by taking the mifi to the second storey of a building and hanging it out of the window!

Good old eBay of course. :LOL:

I offer the seller £9.50 each, they came back with a counter offer of £9.99 which I accepted.

It only takes a few seconds to un-hook off the headrest rod if you want to turn the seat around.

Just made an offer too - thanks for that.
The problem is we usually leave the seats facing into the van while we are parked up, so when we go to bed there is nowhere to put the shelves .... but hey only a minor problem.....

Store them by hanging them on the front side (sitting side) of the cab seats when you go to bed.

I am hoping there's a radio engineer on here who can explain to me how gain works when it comes to a MIMO antenna -- my basic understanding is that both elements come into play when we are talking about a 4G signal, whereas a 3G signal can only use a single element. Now, as the two elements of this antenna are rated for peak gain at 3.8 and 3.7 dBi respectively in the 1710-2170 Mhz frequency range, what does that mean in practice for 4G if both elements are in play?

Or ask Stanley Unwin. :LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL:

@bigalw35 I have pm'd you

TWIB a watering can to fill the toilet flush thingy, a hanging rail for the shower, two pairs of skis, ski bags ditto x 2, poles ditto and a windscreen wiper. Flipping ski bindings were too close for my boots so had to redrill the darn things. Scary.

Ah Boyes stores indeed. Can buy almost anything there. Scarborough family. Used to know them way back. They predate but almost invented the pound shop idea.
