The issue is with a few who ordered food, had a change of plan but did not cancel before the deadline...
And MOST of those have done the honourable thing.. It is only a few who will not take the responsibility of their actions
 
Well they should pay up as you be out of pocket bang out of order
My moterhome playing up and may that is May have to cancell but I will pay what owed straight away
I don’t knock no one
Or maybe some one else can have my order
 
A couple of people have been good about it and have paid, a couple have said tough, down to you, one person simply denied they ordered, all of which means someone ( guess who ! ) is going to be well out of pocket

I’m truly shocked to hear that; astounding behaviour.

Jaws John, can I suggest another action for next year, which is to ban those who have refused to pay their dues for this year.

I couldn’t agree more; deplorable actions should have consequences.

So sad to hear this. Cant believe people wont pay if cancelling. Definitely ban them from next bash and don't put food on. Hope you aren't out of pocket in the end.😥. Understand people's plans change but they should pay up.
 
I’ll buy you any hopefully others will, a couple of beers to lessen the cost impact on you due to a few arseholes

Hi John, if you have a surplus of ordered but not paid fish and chips then I can buy a single portion from you if that helps
 
Sorry you are getting all this hassle John. At the end of the day if you are out of pocket, I and I am sure many others will chip in (see what I did there😊) to help cover the shortfall. I am just grateful people put on these meets, without giving them extra grief.

We will chip in to help with the food payment short fall, it’s not fair for you to be organising the event and saddled with additional expense for such things. Keep us posted.
Regarding future events, I think you should do what’s best for you there. It would be better to lose the food than the entire event though.
 
I’m biting my lip very hard, cos I’ll end up visiting Coventry again. That’s why I don’t go on much anymore.

Hi both. sillybug. We chatted at the New Forest meet.

Yes. There is a water point on arrival by the clubhouse. Not usually any others although if dry, the pitch watering system will be running so you can stand on the edge and get a free shower. 🚿. It can be a lug back or drive the van down to refill. We try hard to get people to fill on the way in which can cause delays getting folks in when everyone arrives at the same time, but it helps to have a full tank at the start. 👍

Elsan point is in the car park behind the clubhouse and has recently been enclosed. There was not water for rinsing nearby so take your own container. ( We use an old plastic milk container.) Slight possibility that they may have put a rinse point in, but I doubt it.

Toilets are in the club but only accessible when it's open. I don't know what arrangements John has made this year but it's usually Friday evening, Saturday evening, Sunday all day.

Showers occasionally available, but users sometimes comment that the temperature is bracing. Unless they have been refurbished, they are a bit tatty and usually reserved for the handful of bikers in their tents.

It's in the forest a couple of miles into Thetford town centre. There is a pleasant walk in. We can give you directions on-site. Don't suggest walking in on the main road. Taxies are very reasonable.

There was no WiFi and some networks had poor reception. Again that may have changed in two years.

We very occasionally get flypasts from the USAF at Lakenheath or Mildenhall or the RAF at Honington that can startle animals and humans alike.

Dog owners be aware that the area is known to have ticks so be alert.

It's usually a really fun filled few days.

John, You have done much more than anyone could have expected for such a worthy charitable cause, please, as has been said before, do not let a few spoil it for the many genuine people.

Next year, ask everyone to pay for meals when making booking, after all the total bill is not going to break the bank, then there entry code email can be used as proof for the entry AND meals.
This would also give you the money to pay for the food, upfront, without it coming out of your own pocket.

IF people cannot attend, then they MUST be prepared, for you, to give ALL monies they have paid to the Air Ambulance!

PS. Let the Funsters know if there is any shortfall and I'm sure it WILL be covered. Your hard work is MUCH appreciated, THANKYOU!

I blame Trump. These 'breezes' keep coming over the pond.

No . Can't be him, he was all hot air.

Forecast is now not bad. 17 to 19 degrees by the weekend but Wednesday looks a little miserable.

The site is surrounded by trees so that always tempers the wind a bit.

Anyone worried about getting stuck, in 10 or so years, no one has to my recollection. It topsoil over sand/gravel so drains really well.
 
It must be somewhere in the 19 pages but can someone please post up the cost of the meals f&c and Sunday.
So I have the money all ready.
