Jaws John, Went walkies today at a local country park to admire the views over Gloucester . Very hilly and muddy but high ho and off we go. Got to the top, heavy shower of rain, no problem, rain never stopped a hero before! Tell you what does though, very slippery mud on the steep downhill leg. Any how, one visit to A&E confirmed broken wrist. Now in splint for 6 weeks so unable to come to the bash. Not sure what I’ve paid for, but F&C booked along with Sunday lunch. If you’re unable to ’sell’ the slot or food let me know and I’ll gladly settle up. Anything I have paid please sent to Air Ambulance. See you next year. Geoff DOH !!!! All sorts happen !
Couple of auctions for Air Ambulance charity, moped racing ( I supply the peds ), music, a quiz and a 60's disco
Cost is £12 a head for the whole event ( from Wed 26th until Tues 1st morning)

Nope.. Should all the Funsters attending be subscribed to the Blackbird forum ? After all, the official full name of the event is 'The Bird Bash'
But obviously the advantages of subscribing to Fun always makes it worth while

I think I am going to have to call it quits after this year, or else change things around
The head ache is the food, which had to be ordered and paid for up front last Monday ( as posted on this thread )
A couple of people have been good about it and have paid, a couple have said tough, down to you, one person simply denied they ordered, all of which means someone ( guess who ! ) is going to be well out of pocket
My options are to not do food at all
Get folk to pay for grub when they book
Simply stop putting the bash on

At the moment option 2 seems the best, but I will be thinking long and hard about it all

Jaws, first off, there is absolutely no way you are going to be out of pocket for the low life with no scruples that are not paying up as there are plenty of the good guys and gals that will see to that.

The Bash will be just as good without the food element and I'm sure the worry you put yourself through dulls your enjoyment of the Bash.

It would be a real shame if the Bash did not continue as both the charities and Funsters would miss out on one of the highlights of the year and we for one would be gutted.

Personally I wouldn’t do the food side. We all have a our own cooking facilities and are capable of providing ourselves with food.
Keep the Bash and dump the food!

Hi. John might have changed things this year with the high numbers but usually you pay the marshalls on arrival. You then get given a slip of paper which you need to collect yours when they arrive.

It'll be a rare outing for cash I expect.

I strongly resent being alluded to as a low life scumbag.
As per post 506, I, and no doubt others that have cancelled, had a genuine reason to do so, and when John Jaws gets the time he will undoubtedly contact those of his that have cancelled with the amount owed, and any money due to him will be paid promptly.
My payments were made last year, and carried over to this year, so I have forgotten the amount I paid.
I will be sending John a covering amount today to mitigate any losses, and next year guess what? I’ll be at the bash after ordering food and I suggest paying up front with no refunds.

I would be very happy with option 2 as we pay up front for the bash anyway so no problem paying for the food so you will always have the correct amount when you order and have to pay simples
