The road to Portugal.

Really sorry to have to tell you that restaurant which I loved so much and posted about on Fun has closed...

My people are trying to find out if the owner has moved to larger premises or gone forever.

JJ
Hi,
Thanks for letting me know,we had walked to it today and it seems to be a pastelaria now.

For years, the GNR have moved motorhomes off the spaces at Ferraguda now and then throughout the "season".

And the same happens at the football park in Armâcão fe Pera too.

Folk still have great stopovers there.

its hit and miss in many places .
either just move or try and find out why they are moving you.
sometimes it is just easier to move .
come back tomorrow you may be ok fot a week.

Is the football park the same as the car park behind the fisherman's huts ????
Cheers

We spent a few days there a few weeks ago Dave. Bumped into UK crossing the road. Managed to get in the all you can eat fish restaurant this time around. Amazing. Mena sends her love to you both. We are now in Baiona.

Met two lovely couples at Falesia who came along to Camping Armacao with us,we had 3 great days there before parting company with them. We then went to Alvor for 2 nights meeting up with a guy called Mike from Cornwall who I had met earlier, had a great night at a Pizzeria last night before heading to Lagos for tonight at yes you guessed it,Adega da Marina. I had Secretos Iberico and Lil had Sea Bass, superb food as usual. Weather isn't great so might stay another night and go back for the garlic prawns before hitting the west coast. Can someone tell me what the other dishes are apart from the Secretos?

mind i do here but a friend bought some the other day . total rip off i thought.
but carry on having a good trip. the best parts are yet to happen . hug the sea all the way . some great places for you to find .

And I have lost another wheel trim on the 125, bloody roadworks. I should have fitted the cable ties I bought. :( Got the bike out and rode all the way back to Alvor but didn't find it,Gypos were out on their carts so they probably picked it up.

Cozido a Portuguesa is Portuguese stew, lots of cheap cuts of meat and vegetables, chorizo, morcilla/morcon (black pudding) usually a a big lump of cabbage, can include bits of pig that we would not normally eat (ears, snout) not for the faint hearted but very tasty.

Picanha is steak, usually like sirloin/rump, Brasileira could be Brazilian steak or cooked in the Brazilian style which is plain grilled with salt i think.

Cavalinhas Alimadas is a new one on me but Cavala is Mackerel so may be small Mackerel, the Spanish have a word 'Alinado' which is cold vegetables in oil and vinegar, a sort of pickle, so alimadas could be the Portuguese version.

Just Googled and came up with this:

You should have asked, most younger Portuguese speak some English(often better than me) especially in the service sector.

We left Carrapateira and are now at Pessequeiro, went via Cabo Sardao. Tucked in the old quarry for the fort. Had lunch at the beach resto, had the Iberian black pig spare ribs. Yummy.

There was surf Alan,so much that I didn't risk a swim in the sea, went for a swim in the lagoon. Doesn't look like they have opened a channel to the sea this year as the lagoon was devoid of life. :(
