The resurrection of Doc, bringing a 20 year old neismann Bischoff Flair back to life after 12 years off road.

The valve on the heat exchanger is a Ballofix type , it is an o-ring on the shaft , it’s a common problem when used on heating / hot water systems , moving it is not advisable, it may re seat but more likely to aggravate an already perished o-ring
As a plumber I’ve seen hundreds like this

Even if re seated with movement it needs replaced as it is a leak that won’t go away
Yes I think replacement is the plan . Hopefully I can get it off and fit a new one without damaging anything else.

I have found that this type of valves, unless moved fairly often, tends to seize in one position and, when one tries to release it, it either leaks or breaks! 😡

Yes I think that's what's caused it. It was in the on position when I collected the van and we were getting cooked driving it so I turned it off. Now it has a slight leak.

I'd rather fix it now than in the colder weather when I really want the heat exchanger working

The bit sealant on the window seems to have fixed that problem. The amount of rain since last evening and there's only a slight trace in the channel closest to glass. The other channel is bone dry .

Will let Just smiffy have a look at this valve this morning before he goes out shopping and if he can tell the size might be able to get one from a plumbers.

Not that common Female/Female if I remember right.

Do you need anymore links 😁

The 12mm type were fitted to my PCV drain down pipes when I first bought it, I have now converted them to a 15mm type which can be bought at any DIY store.

Ah OK I found them on ebay but the "mini" threw me as these are not that small. What does the 1/4 refer to as this is not 6mm lol

This is where I get confused 12mm to me is 1/2 but these state 1/4 🤔

Battery fully charged at 10.45.
And it's been mostly cloudy with showers this morning. Occasional bit sun

The 1/4 is for the thread the valve has 1/4 BSP parallel thread and the male parts are 1/4 BSP taper thread I used some PTFE tape when re assembling

I love ebay for easiness but sometimes it annoys me .

I bought a bin for holding dog poo bags in when I'm nowhere near a bin ..

£5. 97
Ebay thanks me for my purchase then shows me I could have bought it cheaper . Is this something new form of scotsman torture

Remember not to over tighten as this is how they can crack.

On MHs most fittings are 12 mm which is outside pipe measurement - Domestic are usually 1/2 inch/15 mm (same) inside pipe measurement - hope that clears things up - You can get 15 to 12 mm reducers (or up ) if you want to change to domestic but most stuff on MHs uses 12 mm
Use John Guest fittings 👍rather than any others. If you get the reducer’s then you can change to domestic taps etc which are a lot better than MH taps and a lot cheaper 👍
When I used to convert vans into MHs I used to use 12 mm to the pump then Domestic all around the van and found that JG push fit fittings were a good bit more to buy compared to other domestic, but a lot cheaper than JG 12 mm and they never failed but other makes failed hence JG recommended 😉

Yes my van already uses domestic plumbing throughout the hab area , taps ,pipes etc are all household as are the gas fittings.

Wasn't sure what this valve was though . I've never seen one before. But got replacement ordered from ebay

Crap weather today not getting much done . But I did fix my kitchen drawer as the erse kept falling oot .

Everytime I go outside though it starts raining again . Looks like Saturday is my next mostly dry day so that'll be wheels off day.

It could just be you, the sun is now shining on us righteous folk here in East Anglia. 😄

Seems much worse down that way, I'm not far from Lennyland and we always have better weather than you post up. Been a couple of showers today but mostly sunny and windy.
Cornwall is the closest thing I've found to the wild Atlantic way. Its rarely warm , rain is never far away and its windy quite a lot.

Not sure why it's so popular with tourists lol.

Nothing wrong with our lovely wild Atlantic Way! 🤣

I would fit an electric valve. 😊

As for the battery box I would store stuff you don't use very often like yours tools, then I though about your luck. 🤣

Just for dog poo bags? 😉🤣

Weather is a joke ...I was out cleaning the polish off ma black bits and got soaked again . I'm now back to hibernating inside having lunch . I've a wee bit wood to glue in my wine cellar but that's about everything inside till my bits arrive off ebay.

One thing the rain does though is make you appreciate a good bead ... and that's before wax

I have a tool locker already that I can just about fit everything in .

That's the problem when you have so much storage . You have places you just can't think of a use for.

If you want to fit an electric valve for me I can leave it till I visit you next month lol
