Loved the sketch on Tiswaz…when constestants threw velcroed DWARVES at a wallIn respect of getting Garry on the roof, take a leaf from the Kiwi book, put some velcro on the roof and his vest, then throw him out of a bedroom window and hope he sticks. Necessity is the mother of invention after all
We're putting a rope on it but there's not room at the back where it's going for 2 of us plus the panel. .. it'll be awkward but we will get there. Can you put a rope around the solar panel and just pull it up onto the roof.
Yes he's going through the skylight . Will attach rope to panel ..I'll hold/push it up the telescopic ladder as far as I can while he pulls up rope . Then I'll go on scaffold at rear of van and grab one side while he grabs other and lift it in to place. Then we need to mark round it.. prep and glue etc .. it will be a little awkward but we'll figure it out somehow.I reckon Gary in the skylight area is your best bet Tam,
I'm looking forward to meeting him in Morocco and for him still to be in one piece!
Pity I'm still in France, you could have done it in my barn. We're putting a rope on it but there's not room at the back where it's going for 2 of us plus the panel. .. it'll be awkward but we will get there.
Puraflex is good but it is not a patch on the marine grade Stika's for holding power. On a panel that size just not worth the risk. We're using puraflex 40 adhesive. Something garry used on his panels we got from tool station .
Can you video all this please, reckon it would do well on utube.Yes he's going through the skylight . P.s he's no been in one piece for 46 years lol .
If he breaks my skylight he'll be in 2 pieces when I've finished with him lol
The Aluminium in that is actually pretty thick, it was back then , but also properly bonded to the insulation so yes, shouldn't need any screws if prepped properly. Will be Ok if you use a decent adhesive , Stika 291i or even better 292i. Screws don't do much in thin alloy.
Fairly decent spray boothes these days, problem is that they push them out a bit too quick and it can be dustyStill reading this epic novel Northernraider with interest but have a question.
As you are off to Morocco and will be having several paint jobs done on Doctor Do Little whilst there, Where will you sleep whilst van is in the paint shop?
Or is it a case of a mobile paint sprayer with a rattle-can doing it on site, or wherever you are?
Just curious.
Keep up the good work and look after your mates helping.
Reckon their bloods worth bottling!
That's a nice offer Michelle but I'm not sure it would have gone up your lane ...its a big beastyPity I'm still in France, you could have done it in my barn.
Not sure if you have Instagram but if you do look up "garage tafroute " basically they have a compound you park in. .. usually about 20 other campers , vans , trucks . They do all the prep work outside , then they have a new purpose built big shed they do the spray painting in . It's very basic and rough and ready but they turn out some good jobs . Baring in mind some of the absolute sheds the Germans take too them for restoring Doc will be an easy job to them. So you live Inthe van on their compound while it gets done. The actual spray time in booth will only be a few hours and we will just go for a walk or something during that bit. The underside will get painted outside in the compound.Still reading this epic novel Northernraider with interest but have a question.

You've been to worse places in Morocco! Could manage the laneThat's a nice offer Michelle but I'm not sure it would have gone up your lane ...its a big beasty
Aye but not with this van lolYou've been to worse places in Morocco! Could manage the lane
It would be a good practice in your reversing skill if you can't get through!Aye but not with this van lol
Yet
It certainly would ...I've no camera on this van yet either. It would be a good practice in your reversing skill if you can't get through!
And as he can get bodywork and repaint done in Morocco…We had an 8m. boat on a trailer going through. You just need a bit of practise!
Loving the confidence Paul. Its our first September in UK for years, can't believe how cold and wet it is .Enjoying some great cycling in peak district thoughIt’s going to be good weather next week so you should get plenty done.
Round ours for BBQ?! We were parked up not far from the compound last year in tafroute and it's a brilliant spot with awesome views. Despite being guardian parking it feels like wilding. Not sure if you have Instagram but if you do look up "garage tafroute " basically they have a compound you park in. .. usually about 20 other campers , vans , trucks . Your charger is not suitable as it has an automatic desulphuration phase that charges at 15.2v. If that cuts in it's far too high for Litium the BMS will probably cut in and save the battery so it won't charge anyway.and have switched off the inbuilt charger set to gel but if absolutely necessary I can use that once in a blue moon to get some charge in if it got very low.
I'm going to remove this original charger. Fit a 240v socket in there and if I need to use a charger on mains the lithium one CaptainPaul is sending me can plug in and go on the battery. I'll use the space where this huge charger is to mount my solar controller and b2b . This b2b doesn't need the same wiring my renogy one did . I'm surprised how small it is.Your charger is not suitable as it has an automatic desulphuration phase that charges at 15.2v. One big chunk of roof I won't have to polish though
You want to see the size of the Votronic B2B, mine is only 30amp though but tiny, same size as my Votronic 250 Duo mppt. The two together are about the size of the Victron 100/20 mppt.I'm going to remove this original charger. And I stupidly bought 5 metres of red and 5 metres of black. Only a red one comes from the starter battery
