Rally The Last Peterborough Show April 2023

We are back home from an uninspiring show. Very few exhibitors compared to shows there in the past, general lack of interest all round. We drove off this morning without needing a tow and as the rain is forecast again we decided to leave. Thanks to the overworked marshals who did a sterling job in difficult conditions.

We did plan to come for the day tomorrow if only to collect the raffle prize (some solar kit I think) but having just booked a cruise we may not make it. I know Jim mentioned it would be difficult in that thread but when I win perhaps Jim could raffle it off at some stage and donate the proceeds to the Myaware charity? Optimist me!

Update having been asked a few times I have checked with Warner's. If you need a tractor please do the following in order.
  1. Make sure you are completely ready to move.
  2. Get your towing eye in.
  3. Look around to see if tractor is in our area and flag them down.
  4. If you see a motorhome nearby with hazards on, please confirm with them that they are waiting for a tractor. Ask them to let the tractor driver know you are waiting. Put your hazard lights on. Make absolutely sure your towing eye is in and you are ready to.move.
  5. If no sign of a tractor or one coming, please call 07795 613918 or 07831 775450 and state you need a tractor and that you are with Fun and a rough location.
  6. Put your hazard lights on please. Check your towing ring is in place.
  7. Wait patiently. Please do not keep ringing and do not leave your van.
Note: If the tractor gets to you and you are not ready, you will go to the bottom of the list. The drivers will be attempting to clear all waiting vans in an area at a time. They are currently wasting a lot of time because people are calling them, are not ready to move, or do not have a tow eye screwed in. You have been warned.

Good luck everyone.

Robin

If anyone is heading for the Tunnel after the show tomorrow can they bring my Pimm's please 🤣
Looks like a goosd time is being had despite the boggieness.

We left this morning to head over to Skegness so the dog (Bonnie) could have a good run off lead. Didn’t get stuck thankfully.

Our first show / rally. Met some nice people, lots of tea in the Fun tent, and spent too much money.

We’d like to express our thanks to the marshalls and everyone else giving their time to make ours enjoyable.

Well that was a great start to the morning….. not only did someone park between our van and the one next door whilst we were out yesterday, blocking the safety zone and very close to both vans, but also very noisily changing gas bottles early this morning. At least he switched his generator off……..

Then promptly departed after opening his grey waste, leaving a smelly deposit and a massive equally smelly river of the stuff as he drove off up the road

I really hope it wasn’t him who messily emptied his toilet cassette mostly into the grey waste drain next to the Elsan point, leaving toilet paper and other residue all around the grid…….

Was it a funster? o_O

On a positive note, we did enjoy the show (actually made it there….. and back!). Guilty as charged looking at a very nice Consort PVC though…

Great to meet faces new and old and a real hats off to the absolutely sterling job done by all the superstar marshals under some very challenging circumstances, saving the day for many people.

See you all around sometime, somewhere - we are not leaving until tomorrow so plenty of time for a chat

Not sure….. certainly his parking was not known to the marshals as they would not have parked him between two vans like that

Would the owner of red tow car CV16 JWF please move it so vans on that track can try and drive out.

Kept forgetting to put my badge on so had to keep walking :whistle2:

Unbelievable ! As if there isn’t enough water on the site.
Surely not a Funster,if it is they should be ashamed.

Great meeting up with fellow funster again.
Thank to the Marshall's for doing a great job as always, plus to Jim and Sian for the tea tent. Missed the Pimm's but never mind.
The lovely gold Burstner drove in and out unaided 😁👍🤣 so decided to head home and leave the tractors to do their thing.
Till the next time, swaffam.

Just to add a thanks to our Marshals for the great job. I know they will pass it on so thank you via them to the tractor guys.

On the upside it was good to meet some faces to match to names.
