The disused railway line and voie vert thread

Geldo to Estivella via verde

Olot Girona via verde with secluded waterfall swimming spots

We came to Esteve last night for another free Aire with 6 places, free dump, 50 cents for a cassette clean and electricity at 5 euros for 24 hours.
Very quiet night with 5 of us here.
Had a walk around town last night and very very q. No bar... https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/foru...e-del-carrilet-olot-girona-with-cascades.446/

But beware the one in Spain between Alcaniz and Tortosa - it’s a beautiful track and some stunning scenery. But there are lots of tunnels, some up to 700m and very dark. Which for those of us with ebikes with feeble and badly aligned lights is not good news, particularly when you meet someone coming the other way and end up crashing over the wooden kerb and smashing yourself up!

But for those who are properly set up I can thoroughly recommend Camping La Terra Alta in the wonderfully named Bot - it’s an excellent little site with direct access to the Via Verde, and is ACSI (on the app, not yet in the book.)
Just rereading and we were there a couple of days ago so 3 or 4 posts above this one.
If travelling uphill from Xerta the first 30 tunnels were 90% lit. After Prat de Comte however it's pitch black.
You can get a lift to Horta with your bike and just cycle downhill.

jongood via verde near Salamanca

Touraine Voie Verte
This is a nice one. Mostly pretty flat, with some lovely side trips which are a little hillier. Pretty towns along the way, so plenty of refreshment opportunities.
The site gives links to other routes as well

We live near the BRAM to LAVELANET voie vert in the Aude 45 kms long with stop off points along the way tables , tyre pumps etc

Think we did one to lavelnet and saw the branch line there.
Ta.

Think that area was rich with recharging facilities as well

As will be seen below we have found a number of Disused railway lines and voie verts (traffic free cycling routes) in France and the links are all below so you can go directly to one which fancy having a look at.
It would be great if others added their routes and a link so there was just a one place finds all routes.
Shouldnt be limited to just France, it just happens to be where we go on holiday.
We like the disused railway lines for scenery, generally flatter and no traffic. We are relatively fit but not cyclists and have fairly decent e bikes.

I think it would be better to not comment on this thread but to comment on the individual threads and keep this as a Gateway to finding them all nice and easily.

If you know a voie vert or disused railway line that would fit with amateur cyclists then put a link in or create a thread and put the link in here.

Bordeaux town centre from the East

Uzes (Great aire with great wine) onto the Pont Du Gard

Carpentras to Jonquieres (expect it to be extended)

At the top of the Gorges of Ardeche

Lamastre, Les Cheylards, Les Ollieres, St Agreve. 4 sections of disused railway

La Via Fluvia from La Loire to La Rhone

La Dolca de la Payee Privas to Le Poozin
Many thanks for this. These routes especially help us with our dog, who likes to run along side our bikes!! 😄🐕

Many thanks for this. These are especially useful and enjoyable for our dog who likes to run alongside as we ride. 😄🐕

This one can be added as I think it is an old mining track. 20 kms around the Lens area

We liked Avion last time we were here a couple of months ago but didn't have our e bikes with us as that was a motorbike holiday.

Came back in today and we had noted you could cycle to Lens and there was a "veloroute de bassin miners" to Henin... https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/journals/henin-beaumont-disused-mining-track.619/
