That's Spain by the way. Portugal numbers much smaller. Spanish, French and Portuguese presidents have all said local measures no full lockdown again.

Kudos to them for cannibalising one of their own pieces of equipment ...Bolt problem solved thankfully.
Mechanic has taken a bolt out their tyre machine as it was same thread and high tensile with a long shank ...cut it down and rethreaded it so fingers crossed thats going to work
Put the keys somewhere safe on the car and tell them to pick it up at their leisure.BUSBYI think they are full of excuses to be honest any satnav could find this place ...I think it's just a ploy so they don't commit to a definite time. I'm not taking it to them and I'll be here till vans fixed so sod em
Yeah! Zorba's starting to cr4p himself again!I believe all the parts are here at least.
I qualify for the covid extension so I'm going to just use that . My worry is if I apply online and it doesn't arrive in a couple of days I would then have to wait for it as my current one would no longer be useable.Have you remembered to renew your driving licence?
You are going abroad how will they know? Apply & use the current one over in EU. In the UK there is no need to be carrying it anyway & they can see online immediately that you have one.I would then have to wait for it as my current one would no longer be useable.

CROCS!!!!
He's half way to your houseCome on Tam itching for our morning update.
Yeah don't start me on that because I'm starting to wonder myselfIve been wondering about the problem with Toby, is it strange or coincidence that you had the cam belt changed and had a few short trips out and then a long trip and have trouble.
Did the alternator belt break or was ‘it‘ broken !
Just me thinking, I know that’s dangerous
Ok well the mechanic had started rebuilding it all this morning ....I finally got the car hire company to pick up the car at 10.30 and I thought I might aswell walk down to mums with the dogs , so when I left around 11 the guy said he was just reattaching the engine mount then just the fanbelts to fit and it would be ready to start up ...he said he has turned all the engine and certainly no tight spots so hopefully no internal damage .Come on Tam itching for our morning update.
My vehicle insurance is unaffected by covid I have 365 Europe wide cover.Sounds exciting ,have a save trip, one little question, how do you get vehicle and health insurance for that trip ?
I'm wondering if it happened the other way round and the tensioner bracket broke which broke the cover and took out the alternator belt. Unfortunately no way of proving which chain of events in which order but does make you wonder if the tensioner bolt was over cranked.Yeah don't start me on that because I'm starting to wonder myself
Especially as it's the cambelt tensioner bracket that's broken and I can't see a fanbelt doing that.
But I also can't see any garage admitting liability

What are you doing about the water pump?
Yeah that's the problem ....can't prove it ...but is suspicious that no issue before the belt was doneI'm wondering if it happened the other way round and the tensioner bracket broke which broke the cover and took out the alternator belt. That was my thought process.I'm wondering if it happened the other way round and the tensioner bracket broke which broke the cover and took out the alternator belt. Unfortunately no way of proving which chain of events in which order but does make you wonder if the tensioner bolt was over cranked.

My worry would be for the sake of a few quid, if it seizes you could be back to square one, that's if it was the alternator belt that caused the problemThe garage had said previously when they did the cambelt that the water pump looked like it had been replaced before so it wasn't done ...and as it's not driven by the cambelt it can be done at anytime.
