Tam & Toby ~~Hunting Zorba

on the face of it they seem to be a fair garage only charging 2 hours lab its all in the past now go and enjoy it ...if you had got over the water that bill would have been a lot dearer and i dare say very stressful
Yeah or they are feeling guilty lol
Who knows but yes definitely would have been more elsewhere

Glad you're going to be back on the road very soon, Tam.

The bill seems very reasonable to me. We'd have loved to have paid that "little" in Norway 👍

Happy travels.

Right then ...tunnel is booked once again for Sunday morning 09.20 crossing

Plan to leave tomorrow morning ...will be heading direct this time so I need suggestions for Saturday night stopover fairly close to the tunnel please

I will also need folk to remind me about the bloody Dartford crossing on Saturday night

Don't know how far down I'll get tomorrow.

Will create another polar steps journey starting tomorrow

Last year I drove from Perth to the park-n-ride at Canterbury in one day. Not much fun, but I was assured I could turn up late and still get a parking spot. £7 unless you plan to arrive just after midnight. Only half-an-hour or so to the tunnel.

we often stop at the Drum Inn, Asford before we catch the tunnel. Literally 5 minutes from the tunnel and always a good meal. HArdstanding and electric available. telephone 01303 812125

Not doing it in one go ...I've already had one very long boring drive this week I'm not doing it again ..I'll head off tomorrow and do 200 - 250 miles then stop and do the rest Saturday ...stop over somewhere Saturday night so I can roll up to Folkestone 8am or so Sunday morning

I'll start a fresh thread as the last 10 pages of this one is all breakdown stuff

Barrier closes at 8pm but there is a bit of space outside & someone mentioned the pub nearby are OK if you buy a meal.

What you are saying about how it was running & when we spoke on Saturday it does sound like it was the alternator belt that did the damage.
Labour rate about the same as the independent I use but I think it would have been at least 5 hours labour so they did you a favour. It's the pully & bracket that wound up the price, I noticed they didn't charge for the bolt they nicked out of their machine.

Setting up an account for the Dartford crossing can be done on your mobile and you can put more than 1 vehicle on the account. Also you get a cheaper rate and it never expires also they remind you when you need to top up. It’s a no brainier. Do it

just a heads up, the french have a 24 hour strike in calais, operation stack this side so there will be severe congestion down this way in kent for ferries and no doubt impacting on the tunnel and some of your route tam so may take you longer if you get caught up in the aftermath of it..
glad to hear you've got toby sorted and are setting off again, safe travel and adventures, take care, have fun..

Well I decided about 4pm I was just going to head off tonight ...because by the time I get up walk dogs etc in morning then get past all the Edinburgh traffic it would be yon time ...so I went to Asda picked up a few things including a pizza for mum and I to have before setting off

I'm out packing shopping away and moving the cars in to driveway etc while mum cooked pizza

Came in and the pizza all over the floor .....

Mum dropped it taking it out the oven lol

She's more concerned about cheese on her slippers than the lovely pizza

So vans all packed ...Chinese on way
Once I've inhaled that we are off
Will stop at Berwick or something tonight

New thread going up now

Polar steps trip created too

Please can we keep anything about the breakdown etc to this thread so as not to confuse the new one ...this one will probably dry up in a day or two.

Onwards and upwards
