Me ....I'm bored shitless.

Think I'll go to bed lol

Gotta go park in norautos carpark tonight so I'm there for 9am to get tyres fitted.
They close at 7pm so I'll move round there after that

@Northernraider, Hmmm, I ve just learned something interesting: met and paid the official guy that's been sorting the "compliance " of my Moho for getting it onto Spanish plates this morning - i had learnt through my translator over MSN a couple of weeks ago that it's weight would need to be down rated to comply with Spanish requirements, I wonderd to what? But said to go ahead anyway.
Today the translater and I met him in person so I specifically asked about the weightOh, says he, we've had to lower it to 3500. I said that's what it's always been! Not so, there in black and white in the V5 document it states
3850 kgs gross.
I categorically told Perthshire Caravans when I viewed it that due to my MS my license was restricted to 3500kg.
So I have been driving all over the UK and to and fro Spain in a vehicle I am not licensed to drive! I've even been stopped in a couple of police road checks in Spain ,my license has been looked at but no-one has asked to see my vehicle documents.
AllI can say is thank goodness I haven't been involved in an accident.
I know that it is /was my responsibility to check the documentation but I have to say I feel very let down by Perthshire Caravans as this matter was raised several times as a friend and I viewed the available vehicles.
When I combine this with the multiple faults the vehicle was sent out with , I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone to purchase from them.

Gotta say buyer beware and check documents people need to be careful dont knock dealer van has probably been uprated and dealers will do whatever it takes to make a sale and profit from ignorance

Yes, I realise that it comes down to being my responsibility and with hindsight it wouldn't happen a second time but fool that I am I still like to believe that people are honest and when they were categorically told that I required a vehicle not exceeding 3500kg.I believed that is what I was getting.
That day they must have thought it was Xmas, my friend and I both bought vehicles that afternoon, we would both be a lot wiser and warier now.

Wonder what your payload is legally.Busby.

@BU No idea, but now I have a certificate of residence in Spain and a Spanish registered vehicle I have very little need to return to the UK, therefore when I do use the camper it will be carryino a minimal load.

Who cares i run overweight all the time but does not really notice as back end does not sag and i dont give a monkeys as they have restricted my license and done a lot of europe

Didn't alarm bells ring with the cheaper road tax:rolleyes:

I understand your position, but others on here may tell you that your insurance won’t be valid if you are over gvw. They may also tell you that you are a tad reckless. Me? I couldn’t give a monkeys, but I do think that there will be a tightening up of the regs and more checks in future.......especially if you and others tell the world you are overweight!:)

I'm not surprised really isn't your van pretty much the Same as mine but not a class?

When I bought mine it was registered and taxed at 3500 but shouldn't have been and according to dvla it had been that way since first registered despite 2 plates on van saying 3900

No, I have no idea what the road tax is, I just pay up whatever I am told. (At the moment I am in the fortunate position to be able to do this ).
My illness (MS) has left me with almost no short term memory, so anything new or infrequent is out of my head before I am out of the door.
I accept this as part of my life now, it can be very frustrating to me and no doubt aggrevating to others but that is how it is. One can only play the hand that one is dealt.
I now live here in a beautiful part of Spain with my two beautiful dogs (and hopefully a third shortly).I am very lucky.

Yep in event of an accident it may come to light.

Although I think probably half the motorhomes on the road are overweight.

I was just talking about this to someone on the faceache hymer group as they are looking at a van like mine in a dealers in England. It's plates at 3500 someone's obviously downplated it but leaves only 300kg payload

I'm solo and running at between 3800 and 3900

Oops, my new puppy reportedly can mature at 200 lbs, perhaps I won't still be driving by then lol :ROFLMAO:

Ok i always run overweight but i have 140lts water i can dump - i have never been stopped because i am reasonably sensible looks wrong it is wrong my van could certainly take 3900kg on the scales and not look overweight 16in wheels and a maxi chassis and before you throw crap at me i passed my test in the 70s so have had a 7.5 t license

Isn't it the case if over 3500kg it reduces? Mine and a few of my friends are all £165 due to weight.

300kg would,as you know better than I,be as much use as an ash-tray on a motorbike.
We are uprated to 3850 and seem to have masses of payload, despite what some say about Rapido lack of payload. Last time I went to weighbridge, fully loaded,we were still under the original 3500 figure!.
Seems like a lot of folk carry a lot of “stuff” about.
Oh...........and there’s always the dogs to allow for....better not let them get too chubby!:)

Ironically just after I bought the Moho and decided to head for Spain I was concerned that I might need more payload so did the required medical and eye tests with a view to uprating my van, but it was getting close to Xmas and myself and travelling companions were anxious to leave so I said to heell with it and came as I was......if only I'd known.

Me too and was driving a down rated 10ton horsebox when my license was automatically restricted on diagnosis. :(

Yeah but a 3850 vehicle is phgv which is £165 So considerably cheaper than a 3500 kg motor home which is around £240

Yeah it is ok if you have not had a license restriction to what you should have - i should have 10yrs on my license but not got it and i'm not gonna pay doctor fees rather take chance - and over 3.5t lots of restrictions make your own decision when to break rules or not

It has rained nearly the whole day here today :( but weather forecast says sunny tomorrow thankfully
Had to give in earlier and take dogs for a walk so we all got soaked ....don't think Milo had seen rain before and wasn't keen on it.
Jade has been poorly today threw up a couple of times and has the serious trots.
Had a dodgy tummy myself today and felt a bit off so I hope it's unrelated.

Drive round to norauto and tucked up in the back of their carpark now so I'm here for 9am ...then it's heading towards Montpelier but still need to do laundry somewhere on route.

I've spotted a nice lake near Montpelier I think I'll go check out.

Think it is more down to car class rather than hgv/lorry over 3.5t you can get fined for being overweight but youre scottish so maybe ignore that

No it's a case of over 3500kg is phgv
Under 3500kg is plg and then goes on engine size and emmisions.

Nowt to do with being Scottish

You shouldn't have left Spain Tam, we've had another lovely day here, though I believe it is going to be chilier again for a couple of days. This is definitely the place to be lol :D
Hope all goes well with your tyres tomorrow.
