Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

I bought my Moby (over 3500k) from someone who just didn't know its weight.....I don't think he had the correct licence but drove it to France...

Was told on here that my Moby was available as a 3.5t.....not true the manufacturers lied to sell more

When you think about it ....it's just a load of bo!!ocks....

Someone with a car licence can drive a 3.5t vehicle but can't drive a 3.8t?

I'm legal but not looking forward to another treadmill test in 2 years just to drive an extra 350kg when I can still legally drive my 2ton 4.2l V8 Jag at silly speeds

(n)(n)

Think it is more down to car class rather than hgv/lorry over 3.5t you can get fined for being overweight but youre scottish so maybe ignore that
I'm a law abiding citizen. We are over 4 ton thats how I know the road tax is cheaper

Lac de salagou
You shouldn't have left Spain Tam, we've had another lovely day here, though I believe it is going to be chilier again for a couple of days. This is definitely the place to be lol :D
Hope all goes well with your tyres tomorrow.
I was seriously considering saying sod it and just going back to spain and Portugal lol

But that feels like a cop out and I'd likely regret it later ... if things work out long term I'll see plenty of Spain over winters.

It is when you say it like that but I guess there has to be a limit somewhere.

When I passed my test it was up to 7.5 tonne and I can still drive those but I guess there was a lot of accidents or something involving new drivers on bigger vehicles who knows.

As for the age restrictions at 70 etc I guess tgats also as there's some bad drivers at that age. It's just a pity everyone has the hassle as a result.

Yeah but a 3850 vehicle is phgv which is £165 So considerably cheaper than a 3500 kg motor home which is around £240

Oh does that mean I've made a goodly saving these last few years with my Moho? will I need wear a beard and monocle if I wish to pay the UK a brief visit in the future?:p

If you are just going to spend winters in Spain Tam you will need to learn to drink more, develop a larger gut and a liking for Benidorm.

Bad drivers of all ages,,in fact I think the standard of driving on our roads has greatly deteriorated this last few years. Driving test is and has always been to easy. BUSBY:(

Right that's the new tyres fitted bridgestone blizzard w108 winter alpin rated :)

Good bit of tread on these bad boys and a lot quieter than the Michelins too which is good.

I'm now at one of those supermarket carpark laundriettes then I'm gonna head to Montpelier. Hopefully Toby is now content with the €600 I've spent on him this month and won't give me any more trouble lol

Are you sure he's a boy? Sounds much more like a high maintenance lady to me!

@Northernraider I'm off the France for the first time in a MH , next month.
Could I ask please if there are laundries at particular supermarket chains in general, or do all the big ones have them.
Is there a way of finding out?

We’ve found Intermarche and SuperU quite often have Landrettes

I'm not sure if all supermarkets have them but handily park4night has now introduced a service symbol which laibdarettes come under so I just use that to find one on route

So we are at Lac du salagou, between the satnav and the avoiding bloody toll roads it was a bit of a joke getting here ....a few very hairy little roads which were a little bum clenching but not the first time and unlikely to be the last lol.

Your photos are great! We've noticed in photos in the last couple of weeks that Jade & Milo seem to be off the lead most of the time. Is Jade better at coming back to you? If so, you've most likely got Milo to thank for that. Jade probably thinks that she's missing out on something if he returns and she doesn't!

Hmm it's a hit or miss at times lol , sometimes both come, sometimes neither come other times milo comes on his own and we run away from jade lol.

It depends what food is lying about

But I only let them off now where there's no roads near by etc.

Most of the time they are fine ....

Looks a nice spot.
I looked at that on P4N for a stop on Monday night after we left Gruissan.
As it looked very sandy and rain was forecast I thought it a bit risky with FWD and 4.5 tons.
Perhaps we should have given it a try.

Richard.

It does say that it's a nightmare when raining it's not sand but a sort of red coloured earth but seems hard enough when dry but just goes muddy at the wet spots.
It's a nice spot though and hopefully quiet overnight

You should have taken Toby to Kwikfit or Halfords for a proper check over and service by proper 'technicians'....;)

When you got the bill you wouldn't have even been able to leave Scotland...:)...

So we left the lake after a walk this morning. Ended up with two red dogs jade wasn't so bad it was just half way up her legs but Milo his entire front and his legs were stained red from the dirt.

We headed to Montpelier but I couldnt see anywhere that was nice or close to the centre to park so I stopped on outskirts for lunch and then pushed on.
We are stopped for the night now in a village called martigues not far from Marseilles.

Parked up at the wee harbour marina which once the cars clear out should be quiet for the night.

No pics I'm afraid other than screenshots of the parking. I have to say it's a pretty bland boring part of the country ...I've no idea why folk come here.
Having never been before and only hearing people talk about the south of France I expected something different.

Ah well

I'm hoping Italy is nicer as I will be there in a couple of days I think.

Where's provence

Edit

I'm not familiar with the region's but a quick Google is pretty much where I'm going next.
If I can park close to marseilles city tomorrow I plan to have a look and I've been told the coast road from nice to Monte Carlo is nice

Get yourself inland a little and you will find some lovely places.
The verdon gorge is worth s visit.Unlike Spain the French med is a money pit.
Enjoying your travel posts by the way

That's the bit I don't understand though . Why is it a money pit?
I can't see any beauty in it. I mean some parts of Spain weren't that scenic but it was warm and sunny lol so can see why folk go
