It seems everyone on here has gone a bit daft thank goodness April 1st is almost over and we can once again revert to being our normal, rational selves. Sleep well everyone :D

Ah that makes sense

But not convinced about the work ethic as they end up working a longer day because of long lunch

Well I can out of water this morning so I headed round to the service aire on Park4night it's a stupid flotblue machine you put your credit card in.

It's not working

Looked at the aires around and they don't do just services

So I'm off to Spain to empty my cassette and fill my water.

Think I'll find a mercadona while I'm there

France!!! Ye can keep it

Richard.

Everyone has their own individual normal and with no offence intended "normal" on here appears to me to be a tad "off the wall", I feel comfortable with that. And of course as ever the men with all their technical talk are as rational as men are capable of being.

Totally agree , BUT, where do we keep it :)?
My own opinion , I' ve always found the French dour and arrogant. First one I meet that's personable I'll buy a large Rioja, that will set them off.

Tam, we were on the Aire at Saint Cyprien not far from Perpignan 42.617785, 3.034872 about three weeks ago and the water was working then. It is a paid Aire but I think you can select 1 hour to service . The services are free once through the barrier.

Probably turned of for the winter as risk of freezing. Our recent trip on the way down & up France of the 9 Aires we stayed on only 2 had the water turned on.

must say we have been to france for months at a time in the last 8 years never not been able to find water and never paid for it either, its everywhere.

So anyway you might have thought I was kidding but if you look at any aire around perpignan and look at the recent comments for them you will see many won't let you just use services and I've no wish to stay on them as they are described as being cramped and very boring. Even the 2 farm location ones don't have cassette emptying only fresh water so I drive the 36 miles back to Spain and I'm in the free aire I first used in Spain back in January.
Filled up my tanks and a couple of bottles and emptied the cassette and Gray water.
I'm now going to have a shower and some lunch and I'll top the tank back up begore I leave lol.

I have to say since I've been in perpignan since Friday I've seen maybe 10 or 12 motorhomes around and only one parking spot I was on I had neighbours ...come over the border and there's hundreds absolutely hundreds. ...I'm starting to see why.

If it wasn't that I want to see Italy and Greece etc I'd stay in Spain.
I know opinions vary and everyone has their preferences but I just can't seem to find France worthwhile.
I don't find the folk friendly , it's expensive and despite having many free places to park etc a lot of service points I've encountered are either expensive to stay at or not working.

I didn't want to head towards narbonne and Montpelier etc as once the tyres are fitted I'll be going that way anyway so this seemed the best option...was only an hour to get here.

I'll grab some shopping in a mercadona , perhaps find a China bazaar for my phone cover , do some laundry , fill up with cheaper fuel and then stay over on the coast somewhere tonight and drive back up coast to perpignan again tomorrow so I'm nearby for tyres fitted 9am Thursday and head towards Montpelier.

I only wish I'd decided on Friday to come back over border and get brakes tyres etc done here it would probably have been a lot cheaper.

I like the coast and it seems all the coast aires have been privatised in France and vary between €15 to €75 euro a night around perpignan. The cheaper ones the reviews aren't great the expensive one ..well I'd expect to be parking on gold nuggets for that money.

If you think perpignans bad don't even think of going into the coast towns further east.

What he said ^^^^^^^^ I'd just continue around in to Italy. Certainly don't chance your arm around Marseille.

Yes but he is in spain.:D I've never seen any life in the evenings in France unless you are in a major town centre. All the McD's shut at 10-10,30
