Government website

Hi Tam, I haven't checked the original government website as posted by Razamataz above but would suggest you read it very carefully, particularly the bit about "provided you have used approved routes"?
My understanding re. the blood test is that after we finally **exit, it will be needed for dogs to get from UK into Europe. As said elsewhere it is a once only test, if The Rabies Vaccinations are kept up to date.
Over here that means annual rabies injections for resident animals.
I don't know how that works for your two having Spanish passports but basically being UK residents .
As you are aware you no longer have time for the blood test and results with your schedule, but perhaps you could get it done when you first cross into France/Spain, then using the same vet get the passports stamped on your way back home?

I've just had to rush jade back to the vets as she's taken some kind of reaction....not breathing properly and her face has gone up like a balloon
...not allowed in vet because of this stupid virus so they've rushed her in and now have her on oxygen and giving her antihistamines....im in the carpark worried sick

Sounds like what happened to Querida when she was stung by a wasp that was crawling about.
Her head swelled to an enormous size, luckily it didn't block her airways!
Thinking of you Tam, desperately hope she is OK.

I had that with one of mine, they had a worming jab instead of a tablet to come back to the UK and it was the one who would have just eaten the worming tablet that reacted,, DOH!

Stay positive Tam, keep your mind on what you DO want and Off what you don't want!
There will be hundreds(if not thousands) of people on here wishing her well.
Keep your chin up and give Milo lots of hugs, he will be picking up on your anxiety.

Milo is with mum i had to leave him there while I rushed jade back as its a 30 minute drive to the vets

For some reason I had to come to their kirkcaldy branch as no one in dunfermline qualified to do passports apparently .....although with the misinformation this guy has told me so far I'm not feeling the most confident

Not sure the passport is right either as they haven't put the sticker on like all the previous ones

Vet has been out saying swelling is going down thankfully and she's breathing OK on oxygen ...just to wait another 20 minutes and then she can come home with some antihistamine tablets.
They said they have to report the incident to some vet body as an unusual reaction or something.

I've just been checking the passports of my two and of my late Beardie Nell.
The first Rabies injections that Nell and Lass had are on a UK pet passport and were done in Scotland in 2016, neither have stickers and the details of the batch are written in biro by hand.
All subsequent ones have been done in Spain and have stickers.
Querida has a Spanish passport and all of her injections have stickers.

Thank goodness Tam, you will just need t keep her quiet and cool?
I know that various breeds react differently to different injections.
Many years ago I had a Yorkie that had an adverse eye reaction to routine injections tbe collies had been having for years. Fortunately we had a specialist eye vet not too far away. His first question on examining the yorkie's eyes was has she recently had a parvo/lepto vaccine?
Thereafter she had to have an alternative variety.
I had a conversation with a french vet recently about worming pills, there are some of them that apparently don't agree with collies. I guess it's pot luck for the poor little mongrels.
Hope you've got Jade safely back now.
Keep safe and phone your Mum if you haven't already done so, she will be worried sick. 🤗

This vet is adamant that after January next year the dogs will need a blood test done to return to the UK
He is incorrect.

They should all have the stickers taken off vial & stuck in passport. Why would you write all that in when you can stick the sticker on?

Glad to hear that Jade is recovering .fingers x'd

This is why I'm sceptical and mistrusting of mechanics and vets etc ... the vaccinations he gave them were apparently the same one they had in Spain....so why no sticker ? And why not a reaction last time?
You could basically write anything in there ....there whereas the sticker is proof really.

Anyway finally home and she's in good spirits despite looking like a boxer after a fight .. .the buggers charged me for the medication and oxygen etc also ...so its been quite a traumatic and expensive day

Also why I'm a sceptic about vaccines too ....🤨

Maybe they are embarrassed by their fees and like to work a bit harder for it, lol
Yeah well that all in cost me £160 today 😒
I mean I'm glad she's OK but then she was OK BEFORE we went to the vet lol.

It was just very bad luck Tam and unfortunate that you have to pay the price.
That is why they have to report it, to try and avoid it happening again.
I'm just so very glad that it didn't have even worse consequences for poor little Jade!

Al least i didn't get charged for the anti histamine jab when mine had a reaction, i was also lucky the late opening vet was the same one who had given the original jab, same practice, same vet and there were 12 practices in the area, La Rochelle.

I'm the first one to defend vet's charges - but I think it's a bit off to charge for treating the allergic reaction...
Time to change vets
Yep i thought so too

His argument was the other dog didn't have a reaction 🤷‍♂️

First vet ive had to use in the uk and by his misinformation regarding taking in and out country i dont think ill use them again

Exactly & basically why it is ,too my knowledge ,not legal.

Not one sticker in my dogs passports, all rabies done in UK, worming and vet visits done in Spain, Swizrrland an France.View attachment 413617

& they don't appear to be encapsulated either ?

The individual pages aren't and there is even a correction on one of them. It's not very high Tec 😂😂
Totally illegal not to have each entry on the rabies encapsulated. The alteration defies belief. That is, or should be & has been for some on here, a complete refusal to travel.
