You can buy square and rectangular aluminium box section on ebay in various sizes. With your diy skills may be an option to replace broken part.

That's what I'd do. Replace both sides because the new sections will have square corners.

I'd try a caravan breakers first, unless you know exactly what grade of aluminium to buy ? In the good old days a bit of Dural would have done the job but generic aluminium section I've had lately has been quite soft.

Hillview Awnings list the part, better sit down - £176.
Looks like a DIY repair coming your way.

Edit:
Found a cheap one for you only £145 here.

Tam, are you thinking of the modified sink made by Motorhomebumpers in Essex? or by another supplier? I have just sent an enquiring email to Motorhomebumpers as I want to change mine also. It would be better for a manufacturer to tool up to make two at the same time.
Re your step. If you can’t get spares, could you get a rectangular/square tube to fit inside the arm to strengthen it. The break is around the hole for the hinge bolt so the tube could be drilled for this and with further holes either side for bolts (allowing for bolt head to not foul the frame on retracting). Just a thought.
David.
I'm not sure what the company is called for the sink but I found his listings on ebay

He does the standard replacement or the modified option in fibreglass for £150 including the postage costs.

Regarding the step ....I'm not sure I could just bend aluminium box as it would have to be strong enough to take weight so I'd imagine it would be difficult to then bend to the correct shape.

I also found the price list for parts last night which is eye watering to say the least ....

I'll have to strip the step down and see how that bar looks .....might be an option to get it aluminium welded ....if not then I'll have to shell out for a new part I think

I can climb in van easy enough but milo can't lol

€145 from this site in the Netherlands, but postage might be steep?

Otherwise get a piece of steel laser cut to the bend profile of the component that will fit inside the two broken ends, tig/tag weld the aluminium and drill the pivot hole into the steel?

Absolutely ridic:mad::swear:ulous prices.

If you go that route get them to slide a solid ali bar into both sections before welding & then it has far more strength when you drill through for the pivot

Any good to you Tam?

Hi Tam
I have just replaced an old thule double step with a new single one coz the motor has gone and double isn't standard fit.
I'm right in the middle of something right now, but I'll post again later on, coz if it's any good to you, you can have it

Ooh that would be good I might be able to salvage the part I need

This is what I have... which bit do you need?
The left hand scissor section would be great but im more than happy to take the whole thing if it's no use to you incase I break any other bits ...and im happy to give you something for it and of course the cost of postage. I've dropped you a pm message to make it easier

How did you do the back bit, thats the scary bit for me, one slip with razor is one slip too many, I would end up having to repair it with all over grade one, which I dont want:eek:
I did the front sides, that was bad enough, took a fortnight to recover.:giggle:

So the next job is to strip the step off toby , dismantle it and build one good one out the 2 .....this one was slightly wider than mine so I couldn't just swap motor over.

Will give it all a clean up and grease while I'm at it.

In other news this is what else I've been up to .. but I thought I'd give you all another spot the difference photo 😉
