Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

i had one of those locks on my van and rfemoved it i think they are no deterent just a good leverage for a crowbar
My hab door lock is dodgy so I wanted a second lock ....to be honest if someone was going to crowbar the door it wouldn't make any difference how many locks were fitted.
But any additional security is better than none in my view.

You must have the same eyesight as dom lol .....

Well I tried to ignore it....I really did....but one too many. It’s just one big witch hunt by the elite left wing press, biased lefty university educated rich BBC apparatchiks, Channel 4, SNP Brexit obsessed extreme Liberal Brexit deniers.....The Remoaners just can’t get over it....they hate Dominic Cummins because he was one of the main orchestrators or the Leave campaign. If they can get rid of him they think that it will be a softer Brexit deal.
The irony is that the lefty liberals didn't understand and still don’t that the EU was not good for the working class population in the UK. Mass immigration...wages suppressed. Dominic Cummins understood this and that’s why Boris got such a landslide victory. But STILL the lefty extreme liberals keep on...they see getting rid of Cummins as their last chance to influence the direction of Brexit. Even if the disgraceful hounding of Cummins succeeds and he goes I’m hoping that Boris will stick to his guns and have a proper Brexit. Let’s just hope Boris’s young child doesn’t get into trouble and Boris doesn’t drive somewhere to make sure he is OK....and give the media another excuse for widespread bias and an opportunity to get rid of him and bring in Starmer and his weird useless cohorts. Have you seen the shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer. God help us !

Rant over...I agree ALL politics Including political images should be left at home and this forum Is no place for them...but we can’t just have one side of the story.

Without starting an argument...this is my thread , the things I have posted are clearly in a light hearted joking way with regular participants of this thread. What you've posted isn't light hearted or joking and it's not wanted on here.

Because its your thread I won't comment on here, like. I said deep BREATHS.... I do like that photo on the back of your van. 👍

You might think they are light hearted and joking but they are political, a picture can paint a thousand words as they say, just look at political cartoonists. Politics should not be on this site in my opinion and should not be used in such a blatant way to express such contentious views whether it’s your thread or not. You seem to feel that you can post “Light hearted”, “joking” content and people won’t be able to respond because Jim has said NO POLITICS. There are other places for that...Facebook, or Twitter echo chambers are perhaps a more suitable place....

From following your travels I actually think you’re a very nice and sensitive bloke...just a bit misguided that’s all 😊. We’ve even got very similar vans...perhaps some day we’ll meet up on an aire in Spain and I can set you right 😊

In other news somehow or other I've done my back in .....never been one to suffer from back pain but between doing mums garden yesterday and doing jobs on the van today I've managed to pull something. Earlier today I'd been managing to hobble about at least but it was painful to try and stand up straight...I had to phone in and take the night off work.... had some dinner and lay down on bed for an hour or so and watched a bit of TV.....went to get up at about 10pm and I cant ....its absolute agony and back keeps spasming.....I had to phone my sister to come up and let the dogs out for a pee and feed them for me ...I've taken a couple of ibuprofen and a couple of paracetamol but still can't stand up

Right along my waist and lower back is completely solid and seized and the pain when I move is unreal ....

Sister thinks I may need to phone an ambulance in the morning but I'm really not keen on that idea .....need stronger painkillers

I can just see Dominic Cummins sticking pins in a Tam effigy right now 😊

Sorry to her about your back Tam, I hope it's a little easier this morning. I have had problems with my back for years. Painkillers, rest, a little movement, rest, a bit more movement and more painkillers. I alternate ibuprofen and paracetamol on the 2 hours i.e. one now, the other 2 hours later to spread out the pain relief. If it's not better after a day or so call your doctor you may need something stronger - I have oramorph if I feel I need it, or if you can't control your bladder - not joking - call an ambulance.

I read the first line and moved on to the next post, just ignore stuff and chill. Are you going to get away again when possible with your delivery earnings or still topping the pot back up?

Unfortunately it's not much better this morning ...the weird thing is as long as I'm lying down no matter in what position it isnt sore ...but I can't sit or stand ...I had a right problem getting to the toilet and just managed to crawl to the door to let dogs out for a pee . I've taken a couple of paracetamol and gone back to bed

I'm hoping so ....I mean that was the plan , I'd hoped to be setting off again around september and heading through italy to greece and I'd hoped to stay in europe till end of march ....but who knows what possible now.

Gardening = bad back. Osteopaths love the spring...it’s when we all get back out into the garden and start digging. Digging is horrendously bad news for backs!!!! We all know that, but still do it!

Tam,I’m no doctor, but by the sound of it you need something a bit stronger than paracetamol, and maybe an anti- inflammatory.

Have you tried lying on your back and drawing your knees up to your chin, one at a time, then together.

Also, jently rocking hips from side to side whilst knees under your chin.

Also, lying on your back, feet flat on the floor i.e.knees pointing up,and gently let your legs fall to one side, then the other.

Probably haven’t explained that very well, but hope it helps.:giggle:(y)

I used to have terrible back pains and spasms for years and couldn’t move at all some days... I then went to an osteopath someone recommended, lovely looking girl that jumped all over me and trust me it wasn’t a pleasure..😱 but after a few weeks of treatment and 25yrs later I’ve not had any problems ....

You feel very sore after each treatment but it then gets much better... your sister may be able to recommend one Tam...👍🏼

Try harder, please. it's just a bit of fun.

Tam, I'm sure even Dom Cummings will find those memes funny (in time :) ) But don't risk this great thread by posting too much political humour (y)
Sorry Jim I did go off on one a bit there...won’t do it again....and sorry to Northernraider as well...yes I do think these memes are funny including that one...but just a bit too political for me to completely ignore and not comment on sometimes. With regards your back have you tried getting a large mallet and whacking the tops of your feet for half an hour....doesn’t help your back but the pain takes your mind off it.

Yeah but I wasnt really digging just pulling out weeds and doing the grass nothing too much ...but then yesterday I was lying under the van repainting the rear chassis and towbar ..it was getting up from that when I pulled something I think.

I can lie down in any position with no probs I can bend my knees up to my chin etc do all that....its whenever I try to sit up or stand up I get these spasms across my lower back and my legs just buckle 🙁

I've just been on phone to the surgery to see if I can get a telephone consultation ...so I'm waiting for triage nurse calling me back
Hopefully can get a script for some stronger pain killers

I think you've trapped a nerve, that can affect your legs and as I mentioned before can affect your bladder. I hope the nurse can help.

You are getting old Tam, sounds like your back mussels have gone into spasm, not much you can do about it until the mussels relax. Alternating hot and cold on the area often brings them out of spasm & if it's still very sore a bit of treatment, physio works for me but everyone is different.
If you have a trapped nerve as well like Helen suggested, physio is best for that, a good physio can relive it in minutes.

Tam

Sorry about your back and the severe pain.

The exercises that Podney recommended above are the ones my physiotherapist taught me. Maybe you cannot do them at the moment, if that is the case you need to seek medical help, which probably means an ambulance for transport to get there, but call 111 or your GP first.

My niece's husband has been crippled by a bad back for the last 3 days, the pain was so bad he was shaking and his teeth were chattering. Doc prescribed Oramorph which has let him get some sleep but when he's awake, his skin is itching (side effect of morphine) and he's still in pain. She's taking him to casualty this morning if she can get him in the car, but I'm not sure if they'll do anything for him ?
I wonder if there's something going on in general with folks being less active/ sitting around a lot more and then also tackling a few jobs where they're exerting themselves more than usual ?
Get yourself a hot water bottle Tam and alternate with a bag of frozen veg.

Ok so I've had a call back from the surgery ....initially the nurse was worried as I said I couldn't support my own weight while trying to sit or stand and was talking about sending me to hospital for x Ray's etc ...but after me telling her that while lying down I can raise my knees to my chin etc and have normal movement in arms and legs they've decided just to give me a 5 day course of diazepam which I can take with the paracetamol and ibuprofen and see how that goes but to phone back if it gets worse.
I've had a couple of paracetamol etc this morning and managed to crawl over to the sofa and trying to sit up for a bit to have a coffee ....spasms shooting all ways at the base of my spine at the minute but I dont think just lying down all day will help me much.

Not sure how i did it as I'm fairly active everyday between doing jobs on the van and working at nights ....i must have just moved funny while getting up from under van or something

Never had back trouble before and I'm hoping it's not the start of longterm bother either .

Bloody hate being incapacitated

The spasms arent fun though as everytime one hits i jerk myself

Sisters taken dogs out for me at least...poor milo is a nervous wreck with me shouting out in pain when i move

Aye I'm starting to feel old tae ....hopefully it's just a pulled muscle might need to borrow my mums Zimmer frame lol

Where would we be without drugs eh.

I mean it's still stiff and sore at times but at least I can now move about ....done my dishes , emptied the cassette and filled my water tank ....limping around like quasimodo like but at least it's done and not things I'd like to ask someone else to do for me .....hopefully if I just keep moving it will loosen up and go away

My milenco locks have just arrived but i might leave fitting them till another day ....dont want to tempt fate
