Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

I know everyone is going to think I'm nuts but I'm not much bothered seeing the inside I just wanted to see the outside ha ha.

I very rarely go in to the buildings I love the architecture which I can normally see outside.
And as most places don't let dogs in we just stick to outside. If I can cycle along there from here tomorrow we will go for a look if not will just leave it and head to our next stop which will probably be Montserrat

That's exactly what we do, here's a pic from 2003, not so much scaffolding then, didn't go in:)

I have to say that I absolutely loved the inside of the Sagrada Familia. It is designed to feel like a forest with the trees supporting the roof. The columns are all different, and very tactile. The stained glass windows are modernist and provide a wash of colour, each side is different with cool colours in the east and hot colours int he west to take advantage of the sunlight. I like church architecture anyway, but this has a different feel. And the outside is interesting, you can see the change in colour of stone as they build, the newer stone is very different to the older sections.

I forgot to say that you don't have to buy online this timeof year, althogh it is a bit cheaper. so you could go and see the outside, and then book a slot. We would have had to wait an hour. This will give you chance to ask it Jade can join you.

I was going to suggest Barca city stop.
within walking distance & all services & security/& gated. But expensive. just seen though that it is shutting down permanently at the end of January.http://citystopbcn.com/

That's an idea. I've no objection to carrying her if they allow that. She's cleaner than a lot of the humans half the time that's why I don't get the beach bans etc.

Aye I did look at it and thought going by the reviews folk weren't impressed it's basically a carpark with only cassette emptying for €30
I can see why it's closing down.
It's pretty much where I was parked earlier at montjuic and not that far from where I'm parked now. It's the red camper on this pic and I'm the blue dot

Well we cycled in to see the sagrada....Not that far but got lost a few times. Don't think I can get away with jade in the basket so easy now she's a little bigger and heavier and I had moved the basket to the front of the bike but everytime she moves it knocks me off balance.
So anyway we got here

It's quite impressive and certainly different ...and very very busy didn't bother asking about going inside.

So before we cycle back to the van is there anything else worth seeing as looking on the map I can't see much and didn't pass anything on the way in.

OMG that dog has such talent.:)

She's now taking selfies on her own.:D

Well done Jade. Next step is to learn how to peddle your own bike.(y)

Why would Jade want to peddle herself when she has a lovely, big, strong human to do the hard work and protect her?:) she's not daft!

I thought you had a doggyhut trailer ?
Gaudi's other buildings are all worth exploring as well as parc guell. (y)
I love em all
Yeah I have a trailer which I'll definately have to use one we get milo.
But I thought since just jade we woukd use the basket. It was easier on the back of bike though so I'm going to put it back on there.

Just got back to Toby and I'm knackered..

So unfit and out of practice with bike as I've not been on it since October.

My ass is killing me lol and legs are shame.

Unbelievably 24km round trip from here to sagrada and back

I did consider park guel but it's a very busy city and I wasn't so keen on the bike in there.
Valencia was better for cycling

My mum is definately getting better anyway

She's back to her smart pants sarcasm

I sent her a text saying " cycled in to city to see the sagrada familia"

She replies "oh good I always wanted to see that "

And just before I sent the pics she says "What is it "

Smart ass

Damned sight safer than cramped up in a tiny basket up front.
It's no that tiny ...That's half the problem she's too much room to move about lol ...everytime she turned around she was knocking the steering off.

Was better on the back but not sure we can do it much longer will have to walk or use the trailer.

Trailer would have been a nightmare in that city centre though. Even on the cycle paths folk always walking in the way

That's some going. Most I've done is 8 miles round trip and that was enough. At least we ain't got one of those battery powered bikes for the cheaters ;)

Aye although sometimes I wish I had one of those battery powered cheat machines.

I'm just out of practice...if got quite used to the bike last year.

I can't walk far with a slipped disc so take the bike every where. I cycled up to see a watch tower the other day and I was absolutely breathing out my arse.

There were local pensioners power walking right by me like it was nothing :cautious:

I kept stopping and made it look like I was admiring the view but I was really just trying to catch my breath before I keeled over

Before I left the UK I used to use a quad to do various jobs about the land I rented and to carry feed and water to the horses. At that stage I only had the little bearded collie Nell. She was very happy travelling on the rear carrier of the quad (either just on a platform or in an attached fish crate) and would jump on at any opportunity but there was no way she would travel on the front carrier.
I think she realised just how perilous it would be if she was ditched on a corner! (at that time we were always off road).
Subsequently I bought an 800cc road quad, a real eye-catching bright orange monster of a machine, Nell adored riding on that too, harnessed in a box on the back complete with goggles.

They don't help, you just go twice as far, twice as fast & up hills you would have never dreamed of tackling. And get back just as knackered, well thats what we do.:)

Yeah there are pensioners on here too who cycle 50 and 60 miles lol

Its terrible ....So unfit

But I'm better than I was a few years ago , I certainly walk more now with jade

Tam

Glad Mum sounds better - that must be a relief for you.

Just a thought on Jade going into 'No Dogs' spaces, since you have a trailer, which I assume is enclosed, would they let you wheel that around with the dog inside?

Could be an answer for children also;)

Yeah she definately preferred the back of the bike ...I thought she would have liked to see where we were going but don't think she liked the corners and it really wobbled the steering

It can be enclosed...But I'd only do that if raining , jade loves to see what's going on around her. Never thought about doijg that though lol.

Mum's now managing to walk herself to the toilet using the frame with no help , her catheter is out and today she had her hair done :) she's looking much better ehic is great and such a relief.

Sister says she can take her out the hospital for a bit in the car so she can go home for a cup of tea.
Be interesting to see how that goes but what a difference

Great to see your mums a lot better. Funny though, how she’s improved so much since you came away!:D:D:D

That's brilliant news about your Mum Tam, but if your sister takes her back home (to your Mum's home ) she will see the kitchen door !!! Then you will be in serious trouble.
