Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

Some great views Tam that’s a very high climb you did there I would need oxygen at that height. :D
I'm not sure how high that actually is there was nothing to say but it doesn't half make 24 storie hotels look small

What an intrepid trio! Well done all three of you. It looks a bit warm up there lol
My pup Querida, had to come into the shade and chew on a piece of water melon this afternoon and she had only been playing on the patio (28°c).
What is it they say about mad dogs and English men-oops sorry- Scotsmen ? :D

Having a swim to cool off now

Jade is certainly much more confident in the water now by the look of it.
This week Lass my border collie has taught herself to leap into deep water from the top of rocks just above water level instead of always having to paddle in. (Retrieving sticks).
She just loves doing it and is obviously so pleased with herself.

Yeah she goes in pretty far now ...most have been those swimming lessons I gave her last year lol ....Milo isn't as confident which surprises me as he jumped in that river a few days after I got him.

But I chuck him in now and then after jade so he will pick it up lol

We are just outside altea now in a spot I stayed at earlier in the year... because calpe doesn't let motorhomes stay overnight outside of the campsite priced aires.

A French man came rushing over while I was on the toilet telling me he had discovered water .....you can imagine my disappointment when I saw it was a tap.....

Not sayin' you need it (at the moment!) but there is a thread, started by @Robert Clark, to help out funsters needing to lose a few, "very few in your case" pounds (y).

Don't worry, you're not alone .

What's that when at home?

Using trigonometry

From where you are parked, using your sextant(which I assume as a seaside lover, you must have) measure the angle to the top of the hill - that angle is Theta

Look on the internet for Trigonometry Tan tables and read off the value for your Theta. that figure is the value of the height of the hill divided by the distance horizontally on the map from your position to the point below the summit. From that you can calculate the height of the hill.

Drat - you have moved, so cannot measure the angle now. Spoilsport. Anyway you can use it for the next hill.

Yes sadly the last 18 months of easy living has almost undone all my efforts of the previous year .. too much food

Even with a few hours brisk walking a day it isn't compensating for cakes , bread and ice cream lol. But I'll got the gym again when I'm back home

...if you're interested in how far, how high etc there's an app called Wikiloc [think someone on MHF mentioned it*], very straightforward. Download maps when you're on free wifi so you can use it online...

I’ve been up there loads of times.... in fact Janie @bobandjanie gave me a piggyback up there last month.....:D

When we went up last year we had a shower of rain, oh boy that granite doesn't 'arf get slippery when when wet.

A guy next to us asked what it was like I told if you are used to hill walking & got decent boots it's OK. "Oh yes we got boots" 1½ hours later they were back knowing no way could you do it in that time asked him how they got on "we had sandals on had to give up"

That's my total walking for today but we walked along the beach to altea and back earlier which was 50minutes to an hour
But yeah the rocks at the top are slippy even when dry

And we'll be leaving to go north!
I'm still working my way south

My mate Jack is over again for a week 19th -26th I'm getting him at Malaga then I'll be heading south again and eventually in to Portugal sometime in August I reckon

Looks like we'll miss each other again, then!

I trust you are trying to wind me up! Trouble is I know you are not, you really believe it is alright to throw (or forcibly take dogs out of their depth).
They don't need swimming lessons, all dogs CAN swim, some better than others.
When Milo launched into that stream just a couple of days after you had him,he probably didn't know what a stream was or what he was doing. He probably frightened himself quite seriously, which is why he has never done it since .
Jade knows water cools her off, but she also knows she doesn't like to be out of her depth otherwise she would choose to swim.

Another word for some Scots is "thrawn "
They don't suffer from heat stroke, skin cancer, dehydration or broken limbs.

Just ask the Mountain Rescue Volunteers. :p
