Tam n pups winter trip 2022

I remember that strange time so well before the funeral. Apart from your brother and sister do you have other family and friends to notify? Me and my sisters share it but found it very hard going sometimes.
Yes quite a few but I'll start doing that tomorrow, spent most of today going through mums paperwork. I can't believe the things she kept. I've got letters here from her school when she left in 1959. Work references , old appointment cards for us as kids etc .. receipts for everything. So much stuff .

Be careful a friends brother got fed up and apparently ended up burning a LOT of money that his uncle had hidden in files etc. he was 95 when he died and was one who kept cash under mattress etc, seriously, didn’t trust banks as they took it in tax. They used to rent out properties. Easily done when you get fed up and tired. Tedious job but can be interesting, finding old photos of parents you’d never seen.

PS. How’s the dogs, I’ve missed seeing them 💕

I've not found it a tedious job , in fact it's been quite interesting. But lot of stuff I don't want to throw out lol. Which means I've to find somewhere to keep it. Mum didn't hide money , she had a safe I installed years ago so the important stuff was in there.

She was very well organised, she just had a lot of space to hold on to things and having lived here 79 years she didn't throw anything out.

What to do with it all is s problem. We shared it out at the time between we three sisters but then we sold up everything and lived full time in the Motorhome and another sister moved to Australia!

The last pic I took of mum . 4 days before she died which is hard to believe.

The dogs keep claiming her seat and footstool

Sisters flat went on the marker this morning and 3 viewings today already , another 5 booked in for tomorrow. So her plans are going well.

I think I've decided I don't want to keep mums house. It was never my longterm goal and I think mum would be sad if I stopped travelling which I would end up doing if I bought this house. It needs a family , it's a big house for one person to live in and to be honest who would I leave it to? , I'd most likely sell it in 5 or 10 years at most and I'd feel guilty then doing it.

I may buy a smaller property next year when my longterm savings are released but who knows. I may decide not to settle again in Scotland.

So I think we are aiming to try and sort a lot of the personal stuff out between now and the funeral , and then perhaps put the house up for sale at the start of November. I'm probably going to head off for the winter around then , I don't need to stay here while house is being sold as the solicitors will handle it all with estate agents.

Lovely photo. She looks so well too. You can tell she loved the dogs. Lovely lady.
She loved them and they love her. They'll be going to the funeral too. But not the church. But they'll be coming with me and staying in the car, then they can come to the cemetery after. Mum wouldn't have it any other way

When my mum died I checked every single photo album and paperwork my stepdad gave me as I knew she hid money. I found nothing but my stepdad found thousands of pounds hidden around the house he re-hid it and told me where it was in case he died suddenly (y)

Pleased it’s interesting and you are making plans. Is your sister planning to buy elsewhere or is she taking to the road too?

The photo of your mum is lovely and just shows how quickly someone can go downhill fast. But you can save it always print one

Thank you it’s lovely to see the dogs. It seems so long

You will need to finish those jobs on Motorhome before you take off again

Absolutely lovely last photo of your mum Tam and the dogs. I also miss your photos of the dogs, when your grieve subsides I look forward to seeing more pics of you and the dogs and your travels:h:

She bought a bungalow last week .

A mix of no longer wanting to stay in the Same street once mum had gone and also thinking of her health issues in the future.

Yeah I've a list of stuff to do on the motorhome before I could think of heading off.

Lovely, really lovely pictures Tam, I wish I had taken more of my Mum, especially as I looked after her in her own home for the last 10 years. She was an Ayrshire Lass who never lost her accent, all our surviving family are still up there, long way from Surrey England.

I take it that the house has been left equally between you, your brother & sister, so if one of you keeps the house, then they would have to buy out the other two....if you get my drift.
Whoever wants to keep it will be making a mistake to consider letting it out, as others have said, its a nightmare to get rid of dodgy tenants, as I am experiencing that at the moment, 1 year after giving them notice to quit they are still there until the bailiffs remove them, all at cost to me, plus the house is wrecked with smoking, and breakages. I refused to mend the boiler as they have overstayed their welcome, but they got the councils environmental health onto me, who made me have it fixed, plus get another Electrical safety Inspection carried out as the existing ran out recently.
Its costing me thousands, and so much stress that I don't need, as its hard enough looking after a disabled wife on top of all this.
My dream right now would be to be free to travel for a year, with my wife, but no chance with 2 houses, plus my late mothers to look after, but thats another story.
Pleased to say that even after all these years, my mum is always in my thoughts, and little things that strangely seem to happen, let me know she is still with me somehow.
Keep strong mate.

Yeah I'm not sure I could rent this out and not worry about it. Plus it would leave me with zero savings .

I'm the only one that had any interest in keeping it. But its too big to live in on my own.

I'm not sure what I want to do yet. I'm just worried about not having a base and an address . But I also don't want to rush in to buying something here as there's not many reasons for me to stay here now. I could start fresh anywhere really. But think I need time to work that all out. I guess I got used to always having somewhere to come back to and that's causing me worry.

Buy a wee batchelor pad down near Lenny HB he would like that.... 😂😂 and its a lot milder down there and a lot closer to Europe for your travels 😉👍
Think I'm heading back to Morocco for a few weeks Just smiffy but probably not until February or so going back to southern Spain and the Algarve after Christmas then more than likely take another wee spin over to Maroc for a few weeks
I never like to plan too far ahead and if Ireland keep winning at the rugby feck knows when I'll get out of France where I'm at now!

Slight problem a wee bachelor pad down here costs as much as a 4 bedroom house up there.

Yeah to be honest I've no idea what I want , one minute I think I'm OK and have a plan , next minute I'm back to an anxious wreck shitting myself.

I'm worried about what happens now , and not having an address etc is stressing me out. But I don't want to make any big decisions just now like buying a house etc as it could be a big mistake .

Brother and sister keep saying don't overthink it but not sure they quite understand how different it is for me now.

I suspect many would offer to be your address - at least temporarily.
Or isn't it as easy as that?
I think it's fairly simple . I mean I don't get much physical mail etc everything is online , but it has to be somewhere I can access for the few things that do get sent. I'll probably end up using my sisters till next year but will have to look in to others options if I decide to stay travelling.

I'm sure it's one of the more easily resolved problems - whatever you decide.

I think Liveaboard narrowboaters use a service called boat mail; might be worth checking that out.

I think a lot of them changed as in the DVLA won't allow a multi use address or something like that.
