Tam n pups winter trip 2022

I remember reading about people having problems, this is from Boatmail website, so a case by case issue:

DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority)

Driving Licence - DVLA

The correspondence address can be used as a correspondence address with the DVLA, however, it will depend in personal circumstances as to whether it can be used for the address which appears on a driving licence.

boatmail.co.uk customers can use the free correspondence address for registering their Licence, providing the holder can demonstrate they are permanently travelling or have a valid reason why the address provided by boatmail.co.uk is their best means of contact and is a correspondence/contact address only.

In recent advice the DVLA has stated:

“We do recognise that there will be occasions where individuals cannot provide a postal address at which they reside and, in certain circumstances, we do allow an alternative address to be used. However, because of the potential risks, we will only agree such arrangements on a case by case basis and we expect a robust reason and evidence that compels a driver to use such an address”

For address though for DVLA etc, best to use your sister as you can hopefully trust her to check on things like those pesky Deptford crossing and LEZ fines that come unexpectedly in the post. Don’t want those left for months while you are on your travels.
I get the feeling you are the youngest sibling? Let them look out for you, sounds like they are on your side.

Yeah that's the worry is anything arriving that doesn't get checked. Mum used to send me pics of mail etc then kept or binned it for me.

I am the youngest yeah but believe me they are temperamental about looking after me lol. Especially my sister as she throws a huff like no one else I've ever met

That’s what siblings do especially when there is the younger prodigal son, coming and going and leaving his toys around the garden 🤣 while she lives in the same road checking on Mum all the time etc.
I think your relationship will change a bit now.

If you take a look at the link I posted earlier, that’s a service that they offer. They can, at whatever frequency you specify, open your mail, scan it, and send it to you by e-mail.

We used our friends address for three years when we full timed, & found a nice CL that we came back to as a base nearby. When you are comfy on the CL it gives a bit of security & I’m sure your sister will take your mail for you. Most importan stuff is online now, so you can change all your stuff to online only. Even ten years ago we hardly ever had an important letter, but they are usually obvious aren’t they!

Just thought - for your mum letters & bits that you want to keep, take a photo of it as you’re going through, & then your brother & sister can have the actual stuff. You can then look at the pictures & remember whenever you want! I’ve done that with all my kids stuff, & only kept the really precious bits in the loft. I think whatever happens, you are going to have to have a real clear out, unless you want to pay for storage? I wanted a massive storage unit, & Paul made me have a small one that got smaller as time went on! I didn’t miss most of the stuff, & by the time we bought a house again I wanted new anyway! At the time it was a wrench for me (psychologically stuff is security for me), but he was right - I didn’t need it! You’ve always had the luxury of being able to leave stuff at your mums, & that makes you keep stuff!

Like many when we sold up in 2013, we used our daughters address and registered at the doctors/ dentist full time for two years, then got the apartment in Spain with the intention of renting it out and spending our time in it in winter. 😁
We carried on like that until we became resident here over 5 years ago, we have been travelling since end of March and will be home when our last guest leave in a couple of week's, it works for us and still happy doing it. (y) Bob

Hi Tam
I don't often comment on here but I have just returned from a wake and I was thinking of you so my sympathies are with you for your loss.
I'll throw in my tuppence worth for your situation. There are not too many houses with room for two motorhomes and a car and certainly not a bachelor pad. You probably already own a third of the house and will be registered with the local health service. If you don't want to use your savings you could get a mortgage for the difference and use some savings to put aside for a couple of years mortgage payments. If you did decide to let it out I am sure your physical presence would convince your tenants to behave.
Anyway that's my thoughts but alcohol has been partaken so feel free to ignore me :giggle:

Wouldn't get a mortgage with no proveable income. I get paid cash in hand .

But I think if I rented out this house and it got damaged I'd be devastated. It's too big for me longterm and at present I'm not even sure I want to remain in Scotland so it's best to just let it go.

A house this size needs a family

We were thinking of renting out our family home after the parents had died but none of us lived near enough to keep an eye on it . It needed modernising as well and we sold it to a lovely family with two children who did a great modernisation on it. It's not been sold since so the children will now be late teens early twenties and it's good to think of another family enjoying it.

My mammy in town with my granny , note the caliper on my mums leg. She had polio as a child which was the later cause of all her Mobility issues, it left her with one leg shorter than the other which caused her hip and knee problems.

I love her smile in this pic , and is how I prefer to remember her than more recent pics where her health had declined.

My mum had a great sense of humour and could always lighten a mood and say the right thing .
