We had a walk around irelands top tourist town this morning but sadly no photos as regrettably it's not very interesting. Just arcades , pubs , a fairground and a wee beach in town. Rain stayed off till we got there and back thankfully. Back at the van now

Sorry, but I have to say, and I am being polite and understated here!......Bundoran is DEFINITELY NOT IRELAND'S TOP TOURIST TOWN !!

Sorry it should have said "claimed" to be one of Ireland top tourist town its all claimed to be irelands surfing capital.

I'm only going on what Google said and a sign on the beach as I had said in a previous post I'm not sure what makes it worthy of that title as it doesn't really inspire me . But things look different in summer I suppose

Whistle stop drive around mullagmore head this morning , wild weather again so only stopped for a few pics. Its not a mh friendly village.

That big mountain in the background of the last 2 pics is Ben bulbin . Hoping to check that out a bit closer after lunch.


We then had our morning walk here at streedagh beach , typically as we have experienced many times on this trip the weather starts out windy but dry , turns sunny when out to encourage you to stray far from the van and shelter then when your miles away change to the worst weather possible ...this time seriously strong wind and hailstones the size of marbles. So once again we got absolutely soaked my jeans were dripping and I poured a good half cup of water out of each boot . Nice beach though , few kite surfers out . We found a poor half buried dead dog at the far end of the beach ..there appears to be a large rope tied around him so I'm unsure of whether it met an accidental or deliberate end

Sat here having lunch and I've just had this auld guy pull up in a 4x4 knock on my door and tell me there's no camping here. I told him I ain't camping and it's 1.30 in the afternoon. I'm having lunch , he then starts threatening me telling me if I don't move he will move me says " you've a load of dogs in there too ,you better not let them out here" I told him to.piss off and mind his own business I'm having lunch .

He then says you better eat it down quick and move or we'll move ya



So there ya go folks...welcome to feckin Ireland


Incidentally I had zero intention of staying here ... I parked to walk my dogs the same as the numerous other visitors here .

Oh, that poor dog! It does look as though he was tied down and drowned. Why else would you put a rope around his neck - if it were a normal dog lead it would possibly be accidental.

You do get some odd people don't you. I had a guy once just climb up into the motorhome when I was making dinner. I had the door open and my husband was walking our dog so I was alone and we were parked miles from anywhere. My heart was racing as was my brain trying to think of what to do to get him out. I did have a knife but I didn't want to escalate things. In the end it turned out he wanted to look in the motorhome and I just humoured him with the thought that he would just go if I chatted nonchalantly - which he did. I was trembling with adrenalin. Not nice!

Looks like the dog was tied up and left to drown when the tide came in. Could have been a vengeful ex-lover. There are some evil bastards out there. Edited to say I don't mean just in Ireland I mean in the world.

OK well I met another Instagram couple last night jess and Marcus @theroadtwospoons and they had also parked at that beach . As I was leaving I sent them a message just mentioning the guy to them and they've just replied saying he's been at them too shouting and waving a bloody shotgun about. He also just threatened to shoot their dogs . They've taken his number and videod him threatening them and are going to hand it to the police so will see what happens .


I've just parked up at Glen bulbin forest walk and I think they are moving up to here too .

Rain keeps coming and going so not sure if I'm gonna risk doing this walk right now or not lol

Lots of dogs balls I always carry it in my van ...no intention of going looking for bother but I'll use it to defend myself if I ever need to.

I took a bat and ball when we went to France a few years ago. My husband asked why I had the ball and I had to slowly explain it to him

We've just had a 7k walk around Ben bulbin forest Park...what a lovely wee spot , of course it rained again ...why wouldn't it but hey ho it's becoming expected now. I think if I can find a mountain warehouse or something I need to go buy some waterproof trousers.

Got back to the van and as I'm tucked over in the far corner of the carpark I thought I'd put my window fiting clothes airer out to dry my jeans and dogs towel so I don't get smelly damp . And typically a local woman came round past the van and was looking ...after that guy earlier I was expecting her to be negative about it but she started chatting and was very nice actually. ..was charmed by all the doggy faces at the window.

Anyway here's the pics from the walk , there are 2 routes so we will likely do the other one tomorrow morning before we move on to sligo .

Tam, you'd be better off with a rounders bat, that's far too big and unwieldy especially in the confines of a motorhome
