This is so true Tam,this is why you travel and don’t stay in the same place long, you like to see what’s around the next corner. The problem is if you spend a lot of time and effort on the Vario, then you’re the sort of person who likes change, so in a couple of years would you be selling it and getting another?
Yip get it to wisselThe Merc seems an ideal base and would be a shame to get rid of it. Could you not get a full time job for the summer, work on Merc when possible and farm out other work on it to save time and while you are earning.
Rip everything out and bring it to wissel for all the base furniture and electrics, finish yourself and be ready for the winter, because of the excellent work from wissel it will be worth top dollar if you don’t like it, cheap caravan on your mums drive for independenceHere's an example of the crazy crazy prices out there.
Personally I think raptor does not belong on a motorhome.
That was at best a £15-20k van ....

I reckon Wissel will have a lead time well into the future even if he accepted the project not to mention the high cost for the quality he provides.Yip get it to wissel
He'd probably still do it quicker than youDave would never get it in and out in time he's busy
And not sure I could afford to get someone else to build it
As he offered above, he could CNC everything ready for you and you take it flatpack and put it together at home ?Dave would never get it in and out in time he's busy
And not sure I could afford to get someone else to build it
What does CNC mean?As he offered above, he could CNC everything ready for you and you take it flatpack and put it together at home ?
I'm in no rush as long as it has a bed ,lights heater and cooking facilities in it by winter I can go to Turkey in itHe'd probably still do it quicker than you
Money is one thing... time is irreplaceable.
I'm using tounge and groove and real wood if I build it .As he offered above, he could CNC everything ready for you and you take it flatpack and put it together at home ?
That’s part of the finish, it’s all the carcasses , and structures which cost a lot of time. Most of the stuff you don’t see lolI'm using tounge and groove and real wood if I build it .
You'll be eating your Turkey in it on Christmas dayI'm in no rush as long as it has a bed ,lights heater and cooking facilities in it by winter I can go to Turkey in it
Aye that's 2x1 lolThat’s part of the finish, it’s all the carcasses , and structures which cost a lot of time. Most of the stuff you don’t see lol
It’s the way you driveWell the wee car despite the issues it has did well tonight. I actually really like the drive of it , it's nippy , easy to park , surprisingly comfy for a small car/van and good on diesel. Its made me £100 tonight.
The mad thing is when I bought it the eml light was on and I suspect its the egr valve but it went off tonight about 6pm and not seen it since.
But it does have the Same problem the motirhime had , its leaking engine oil on to the clutch which causes it to slip and it stinks of burning oil . So It will need a crankshaft oil seal and a clutch done, egr valve cleaned or replaced and 2 anti roll bar droplinks replaced. And the surface rust underneath cleaned up and undersealed before next mot but not too bad for a £650 car . Otherwise it drives well . I should make the money for the clutch repair over the 3 nights I'm working this week.
Fingers crossed
saniclad is what I used. 2mm I think I ordered & delivered in Uk .came rolled up. Just use a proprietary glue, sika flex or similar to stick to base hygenic & wipe clean.https://saniclad.co.uk/product-cate...8C4ZGzggVfgFbXO8TxVbTo0PHcfQAYMEaAsa0EALw_wcBbut I'd line the walls with plastic sheeting so it was a wet room.
Can-t see out the windows. They'd have the whole cab floor if no seat there . They're beds would just go there . And in the back They'd lie on seats or bed most likely.
When we were in Spain there was a family of 5 living full time in a small camper and only using aires/wild camping etc ... no idea how they managed ... oh they were looking to get an Alsation too!Yep my thoughts at times too but then I've met and seen families living and longterm touring in vans a lot smaller than this and they manage fine.
Are you sure .....The dogs don't need clothes etc
Problem is there's no water pump, boiler , proper cooker etc in it. No solar to charge batteries etc so can't live in it just nowHere's an idea Tam ... why not live in the Merc as it is now, possibly with just a few bits added that you need but nothing drastic, that way you will get an idea of whether you can live in it long term once you convert it to your design especially since some of the stuff will be staying in the same places as now. Even a week would give you a good idea of how you cope ... and the pooches.
Even a couple of days in it managing with what you have would give you an idea though ... I thought you woz a roughty tufty Scot!Problem is there's no water pump, boiler , proper cooker etc in it. No solar to charge batteries etc so can't live in it just now
You can’t compare them roughly tufts Scots to real men the Rusty tufts Yorkshire Brick Shithouses it’s not fair on the ScotsI thought you woz a roughty tufty Scot!
15.40 euros when we came over end of March. Its a bit of ripoff but the rest of the A75 is free so it doesnt seem so bad.Ah if you mean the millau one I deliberately avoided it as it costs about £30 ...you get a much better view from the free road below it
It wouldn't really . It would just give an idea of sleeping in an empty van with a mattress in the back lolEven a couple of days in it managing with what you have would give you an idea though ... I thought you woz a roughty tufty Scot!
Anyway the merc is currently full of all the stuff out the motorhome so it's as empty as possible for viewing.Even a couple of days in it managing with what you have would give you an idea though ... I thought you woz a roughty tufty Scot!
Wimp!It wouldn't really . It would just give an idea of sleeping in an empty van with a mattress in the back lol
Double wimp with excuses to boot!Anyway the merc is currently full of all the stuff out the motorhome so it's as empty as possible for viewing.
