Yeah he spent 90 minutes looking at it this morning .Did he actually turn up?
Who knows. But there's a lot of mental illness aroundYou always seem to attract the loonies on gumtree etc
You don't think some of the trolls from here recently have tracked your car down on gumtree and sending fake messages?
If not the deposit is non refundable and there are still people messaging saying if not taken they will take it.Fingers crossed for you Tam that it gets sold tomorrow.
I once put a toilet bucket up for sale on Ebay, brand new never used and a guy messaged me and said it looked really dirty inside and would I knock the price downWho knows. But there's a lot of mental illness around
I had the clutch done on the one I had, think it was about 650 quid, then a few months later it failed the mot, the gearbox was leaking oil and it was really clunky going in to gear, I think you've done the right thing. They are cheap little cars until the corrosion and clutch/gearbox issues kick. It's been an absolutely mental day today between the idiot that viewed the van and the nutters I've had from gumtree.
The wee car I bought the clutch started slipping on it last night so I phoned a few garages today for quotes to fix it ...these were around 650 quid which is more than I paid for the car. So I relisted it on gumtree for spares or repair with clutch slipping.... that was at 3.29pm by 4pm I'd had 17 different people texting about it , 4 all saying they were coming straight away to buy it , one even offered 1500 to keep it for him ... none turned up of course and no deposit paid ... by 5pm there was well over 40 enquiries. So many complete time-wasters one even insisting he was outside to look at it .. I'm not sure what scams are going on ...lots asking for phone numbers , makes you very wary . Anyway I now have some guy Donald mcleod from the Isle of Lewis coming tomorrow, he's put 150 deposit in my account and the money is there but he still sounds really dodgy ...or I might be being paranoid I don't know but we will see tomorrow.
Of course I now still need to find another car before Saturday when I'm working again .
Wish I was still in Spain
Yeah I priced a clutch on ebay £60 and a crankshaft oil seal £18 but garage quoting 8 hours to fit which seems a lot.I had the clutch done on the one I had, think it was about 650 quid, then a few months later it failed the mot, the gearbox was leaking oil and it was really clunky going in to gear, I think you've done the right thing. I know you don't want my advice but have you tried motorhome department, ( note not depot) we have sold two vans through them, and been totally satisfied, you tell them how much you want for it and if they think they can get more they take it on.Good grief the craziness continues
So I woke this morning at 7.20 ,there was a message from the Donald guy saying he's decided against buying the car , so he's lost his £150 deposit.
I'd had another 4 enquiries last night about it one guy who's exact words were " if he doesn't take it ill definitely take it"
So I sent him a message saying it was still available. He then says I can come tonight at 6pm and I'll pay £800 ( it's on for 950)
So I said sorry I'm not holding it I want it gone as I need to buy another car .
He offers £50 deposit lol
I said " I assumed when you said you would definitely take it you were paying the asking price and taking it away? Not just placing a bid "
So anyway I've relisted it on gumtree , I'm tired of these clowns but I want it sold so it's first come first served.
The motorhome is now on ebay too but I'm starting to see why folk employ motorhome depot etc . The world has gone mad with muppets

They do all the viewing and provide warranty and stuff.
Honestly we can't fault them.
To be honest Charlie I'm not in a desperate rush to sell it. I'm living in it so will just see how it fairs on ebay.I know you don't want my advice but have you tried motorhome department, ( note not depot) we have sold two vans through them, and been totally satisfied, you tell them how much you want for it and if they think they can get more they take it on.

No I deleted my Facebook last year .Do you use Facebook, you could put both on marketplace
Haha nice work makes it worth putting up with a few idiotsRight well that's the wee car sold . I at least came out of that unscathed , I paid £650 , it earned me £300 , and I sold it for £900 in total so now I just need to find a replacement before Saturday.
Aye it does in the end I guess but still the headache of finding another one. And no car to go view any.Haha nice work makes it worth putting up with a few idiots
I found Marketplace very frustrating - there is a button asking whether the item is still available which people feel the need to press whether they are interested or notDo you use Facebook, you could put both on marketplace
Yes gumtree is the Same. I tend to.ignore most of those generic messagesI found Marketplace very frustrating - there is a button asking whether the item is still available which people feel the need to press whether they are interested or not
Just asking was you Jewish in a previous life.Right well that's the wee car sold . I at least came out of that unscathed , I paid £650 , it earned me £300 , and I sold it for £900 in total so now I just need to find a replacement before Saturday.
Just asking was you Jewish in a previous life.
Why? Not racist, maybe a bit of a stereotypical view as a lot of Jews in the past were very good at financial matters, and I'm sure many still are, no worse than saying someone from Yorkshire is tight ... which many are!Racist
Just asking was you Jewish in a previous life.
Racist
Anyway naw I was never Jewish lolWhy? Not racist, maybe a bit of a stereotypical view as a lot of Jews in the past were very good at financial matters, and I'm sure many still are, no worse than saying someone from Yorkshire is tight ... which many are!
That figuresIt’s a racist trope
Yorkshire people haven’t been subjected to racist behaviour
