I told you it wouldn’t be busy! Enjoy

I've arrived in londonderry, very very motorhome unfriendly, parking is an absolute nightmare. Sooo is there anything here that I MUST see or do I follow my instincts and get the hell out.

Does it feature as a location in GOT?
If not, follow your instincts.

City walls are interesting dating back to the siege of Derry and give you panoramic views of the ghettos known as the Bogside and the Creggan estate. And a view of Free Derry corner

No and too be honest it's just another grey looking city .

Just going to head up the coast.

Well after a brief visit to home bargains in londonderry to stock up on some doggy supplies and a few other items I headed up the coast and I'm now up at Greencastle in the R.O.I ...so chapter 2 of this adventure I'm excited for what it shall bring. I'm a few days earlier than I'd planned for entering the Republic but I basically ran out of things to see in ulster so here we are. First observation is diesel is definitely cheaper. The cheapest I got in NI was £1.73L in asda but average was £1.77.

It seems to be €1.84 here.

You can tell when you've crossed the border as all the signs change , most are in gaelic now with English below and we've switched to km,

Off to explore the beach and light house.

This wee carpark has free water tap , portable loos and bins

Just to confuse everyone, you are now in the South of Ireland but further north than Northern Ireland. :giggle:
Aye its daft but . Its no called south ireland just ireland , the problem is I just called all of it ireland and the folk in n ireland don't seem to like that .

Just about parity then Tam - or it might be soon the way things are heading!

Well about 10p a litre cheaper which is pretty good. Might be a bit less further from the border who knows . It's amazing what you get used to I guess. But I'm hoping it drops a bit soon as it will add a fair bit expense to my trip

Nice little beach here in this wee village ,I'm actually a few miles north of Greencastle at the shrove lighthouse at inshowen head .

It's very quiet and thankfully that wind has gone. We've had a bit of an explore of the 2 beaches . Not much here so it will just be an overnight spot and moving on in the morning.

If you look up the lighthouse ye'll see 2 lazy buggers enjoying the view.

That tide comes up a long way.
I hope the Londonderry Tourist Board and local council see your comments and give some thought to what they can do to encourage motorhomers. I was last in Londonderry in my motorhome in about 2012 and I can’t remember where we stayed, but it would have been wild camping.
I can only remember walking around the city wall and getting water bombed by a gang of little thugs beneath us.
I could have been worse, I suppose.
