Tam n pups winter trip 2022

First observation is diesel is definitely cheaper. The cheapest I got in NI was £1.73L in asda but average was £1.77.

It seems to be €1.84 here.
That is about the only thing that is cheap you will get a shock when you need supplies.

Parking so far isn't great either . Just drove 26 miles to an aire which is only good for vw sized vans. The next 3 on the road are 2 metre height barriers it €20 a night . Feckin pain in the ass. Wasting the dry weather trying to find a park up

Changed a bit then, used to be wilding heaven.

Tam, if you are going anywhere near Sligo there is a good spot at dunmoran beach

We ended up here on inch island at a nature reserve. It was still dry and sunny when we arrived so thought we would do the walk around the reserve. It's 8km long so it took us a wee while...2 rain showers but thankfully they were brief as I stupidly never wore a jacket. Got a good harvest of black berries too for my porridge 😋 .. just got back to the van and the rain started again so it's peeing it down now but we won't be out again tonight.

If you want to go to the beach on Inch go back to the main road and turn left to go down it, do not under any circumstances carry on past where you are parked and up the narrow lane ... we only JUST got down it with our thin MH, you won't stand a chance.

Hi Tam,
I seen by your recent posts you were practically on my doorstep in Malin Head yesterday, as usual I'm away in my own van but I also noticed you were struggling a wee bit for parking etc so here's a link to a page where you'll find 100s of parking spots 👍
when you click this link and open it you should see a list of various other links click on the Old Motorhome craic map link and it should (in theory lol) open up a zoom map where you'll find dozens of stops with their details on, some have everything available and others have nothing but a space to park, anyway hope your enjoying our wee country and if your stuck in any way I'll probably know somebody near where you are! 😂 I never tour at home anymore, I've got too soft for the heat now 🌞 here's the link..... <Broken link removed>

Captain Paul, that's an impressive database. Might try and persuade O/H to squeeze in a couple of weeks before Christmas. Thanks.
To be honest as I don't tour much at home anymore so some of it might be out of date, but in Ireland everything moves kind of slowly so there's probably still some type of parking on most of them, over here we just sort of park our vans wherever we like the view, nobody ever seems to bother 😂👍

Thanks for that , I always manage to find somewhere it just seems there's a lot of barriers went up quite recently according to the p4n reviews....and of course like anywhere theres sone spots been added that really shouldn't have been . But its early days I'll see how it goes .

So we left the nature reserve spot this morning I thought I'd take the dogs to the wee beach their before we left and I made a point of trying to avoid the road Minxy Mentioned so on exiting the carpark turned right headed back to the main road and continued that way ....about 3 miles along there was a sign for the beach so I followed that and lo and behold I ended up back on the road I was on and ended up having to drive down the narrow road anyway 🤷‍♂️ but to be honest it was narrow but I've been on far far worse roads than that lol .. there weren't any walls or fences to contend with just the bushes at the roadside etc ...never met any vehicles going the other way so no problem with passing although there were several gateways etc that we could have passed on if needed. Sadly after all that we got to the beach and it was non exsisting as the tide was in ...so we had a 5 minute walk along the wee promenade and left. Stopped at a p4n stop in letterkenny that was completely unsuitable for a van to stop at and never even switched the engine off we just left again . Currently Stopped at ramelton . Going to have a walk along the river here and lunch while we see what's next .

We moved on up to rathmullen , a nice wee seaside town with a gorgeous sandy beach , sun splitting the trees when we arrived so parked the van and went for a walk ...stupidly just in a t shirt and jeans. Of course we get to the far end of the beach and the heavens opened. I made an effort to dash back to the van but that was pointless so we all got thoroughly soaked. ...and of course we get back to the bloody van and the rain is off and the sun is out again . You couldn't make it up

You were lucky, when we did it there was a car coming the other way and he was absolutely hopeless at reversing to the only place where we could hope to get past each other, the trouble was that although it was an entrance to a field either side went up on the banking quite sharply so he ended up with his rear end about 3ft higher than his front!

Hi Tam, thought we'd found you another dog 🐶 there's been a collie on the beach all day just playing with all the dogs that are being walked, this afternoon it empty down with rain and it was soaked and trying to get some shelter so I gave it some dog biscuits,it then ran off with someone who had arrived to walk their dogs. So when we went for a walk with Mollie it latched on to us we now know it belongs to a bar around the bay.

Aye there's some folk just let them roam wild ...its amazing none of them ever get taken away by folk thinking they are strays

Yes, we thought it was a stray,we gave it some biscuits but it was not starving, it just wants to play with other dogs and chase a ball it's very obedient,it's still here and goes with everyone that comes to walk on the beach
Where are you?
