i dont think ive ever seen a cemetery as big as the one above
That reminds me! When coming back through Spain if you go near Barcelona and travel along the main road nearest the sea (B-10/E-90) you'll see something on the hillside in front/to your left and wonder what the heck it is! It's the Cementiri de Montjuïc, a massive place as it's not just a cemetery but a public park too but it spans a lot of years so some of the grave markers are extremely impressive. We saw it as we went past and wished we'd had time to visit it but as we were on our way back home with only a few days to get to the ferry port in France we couldn't stop.

I've never seen anything like that before.

I ended up just staying in the carpark last night , I was joined by a young German couple around 6.30pm who were also staying here so I figured we had a bit security from each other. Again not that I've felt unsafe or at risk but some park4night reviews would have you believe there's someone lurking round every corner waiting to Rob you ...so a little peace of mind perhaps.

It's their first time in Morocco too and only their second day. They are moving quite quickly heading south.

Anyway it was a mostly quiet night with only the occasional barking from the street dogs , it's amazing how you sort of just get used to them , a few years back the barking dogs annoyed me but these days it's actually a comfort knowing they are out there . There's a few of the ones around here who look like they've either recently had pups or are going to have some soon , although strangely I haven't seen a single puppy yet , all have been adult or bigger dogs .

Haven't met any as friendly as the ones from that beach at assilah though which is a shame.

The German couple were out feeding 3 of the ones around here last night but they are very wary ...they won't come close enough to pet them and if you have anything in your hand they won't come near at all . I'm guessing people have been throwing things at them . But none of the ones here look starved or unhealthy which is good and no limps etc. So I think they are being fed by someone , I've seen a few with plastic tags in their ears too . But can't get close enough to see what they are. I'm hoping it's to indicate they've been sterilised or something.

Taking mine out for a walk now but I'm going to attempt to avoid the strays as I'm not sure how friendly they are towards other dogs .

Back from our morning walkies , it is a lovely beach here and hardly any rubbish around which is good , our attempt at avoiding the street dogs failed miserably 🤣🤣 but I'm happy to say apart from an exchange of barking it was without incident. It seems you are literally never more than 10 feet from a stray dog in Morocco they appear from everywhere. But as you will see from the pics all look well fed , there's a bunch of them hang around where the shops are so I reckon the shop owners are feeding them in return for a bit security. Some look quite fierce but I think it's mostly bravado

The sun is trying desperately to break through the cloud but it's failing so far , although it is very warm and clammy today , I think we are going to have some rain later. I'm going to hang around here till after lunch then I'll amble further south and see what I can find. I think Mohammedia will likely be my next stop. Looking ahead at Casablanca I think only the big mosque is worth a visit, you can go in it but only at certain times so I will probably just photograph the outside, I did see a cathedral but I'm not sure I want to attempt to drive in the city to find it. The mosque is near the coast so it is possible. But I'll decide later if I find a nice beach parkup at Mohammedia I'll stop there a couple of nights

Northernraider Tam the Mosque is literally on the beach, we were lucky and managed to park just off the roundabout by the guard's security hut right by the masque we stayed two days . Casablanca is very busy with 3 lanes of traffic going through the town. Nothing like the places you have seen so far it's very hectic.
Kind of like one of those places you want to tick off your list but does not quite live up to your expectations.

Yeah I kind of thought that by looking at it.

Ignore the poor service link. I copied the wrong link.
Read the one below it. It involves the dogs.

As Tam can’t access the U-shaped Lounge, here is a copy of what it says.

Hello
I am just passing on this information from a Hymer Club member that has been told to him by a French vet.

My French vet told me this morning that they have been advised of a severe rabies outbreak in Morocco - a rabid dog apparently returned from there to France recently. She warned against either me or my dog from having contact with any animals there - I am going later this week. Controls returning through France are likely to be strict: in addition to the pet passport you are likely to be asked for proof of ownership of the pet (the card with the chip number and your name - not sure that that exists in the UK) - and the lab result of your pet's rabies jab. In France they also issue a separate health certificate to take a pet to Morocco - again not sure if that applies in the UK. I hope this helps - forewarned is forearmed!

After lunch today I decided I was sick of hearing my alternator belt squealing so jacked up the van whipped the cover off and adjusted up the belt ... I then had a squeak free drive to Mohammedia, finally passed some camels on route so stopped for a photie , parked up at sablettes beach for the night , took the dogs for a walk along the beach and met a few of the local strays , I've had 2 German shepherd husky looking cross and a big lab over for dinner lol. Again they look well fed but doing a lot of scratching so I'm suspecting fleas , so.im not getting too close to them . They're now back sleeping on the beach about 50 feet away .

I have a scots version of morrocan spice stew on a bed of cous cous on the go ...if it turns out fairly presentable I'll post a photo later lol

The spice, should you need to buy more, is called Ras al hanout and contains up to 20 different spices.

Try the royal tagine if you see it offered.
Aye that's the one i bought yesterday ,

It will be better when I make one In an actual tajine on a fire , but for my made indoors effort I have to say it was bloody marvelous.

I'm new to cous cous so I may have made a tad too much of that but the dogs enjoyed it mixed in with their dinner

I got a new German neighbour earlier

Hadn't spoke to him or even seen him till about 10 minutes ago .

I had taken out more food to my 3 companions on the beach , I was returning with the bowls and he shouts " hey.....you shouldn't do that"

I said " eh ? "

He says " feeding the dogs , it encourages them to the vans "

I said " that's why I took the food down to them away from the vans"

He says " still you shouldn't do it. They have diseases and are dangerous "

I just shook my head and said " mate they're not as dangerous as an irate scotsman, the dogs are hungry. I will feed them "

Breakfast will be served at 09.00

One of them has fleas for sure , he's scratching himself to bits but I don't have any flea treatment with me .

The wee woman in the carpark just came by too , 10dh for 24 hours here, can't complain really

For travelling purposes an aluminium tagine is the best bet. The pot ones have to be ‘run in’. They stand all day on a small amount of charcoal and the steam/vapour runs down the inside of the tagine, so all the goodness stays in the pot.

If you get to Oualidia, theres a guy comes round the MH parking on a moped and takes your order for the following day. His wife cooks them and he delivers. One of the best home made tagines we’ve ever tasted.
