Tam n pups winter trip 2022

No, we definitely mentioned rubbish and street dogs. My attitude to the latter is different though - I think of them as wild animals getting some human assistance, not pets who are missing out on the full pet experience. Based I suppose on when we lived in Ukraine, which also had masses of street dogs. You can help them, but you can’t help them all, sadly.

We posted photos of rubbish on our walks too. I was wondering about the possibility of starting a cottage industry making things from waste plastic? Find a use for the stuff…?

Our energetic large dog & cities isn‘t a good match, so we tended to be more rural where possible so he got a decent off-lead run every day. Really good walking in Tafroute in the Middle Atlas, and the town is a nice base too. Still rubbish around until you leave the town behind, and street dogs though.
Jane, can you please tell Jackie where she can buy wine from :giggle:

Carrefour in Rabat or Agadir. Not Essaouria. Probably Casablanca. Also vineyards. :)

Happy Birthday Tam.
I hate to scare you, but 5 minutes ago I was 50, now I'm 55 in the summer, life does seem to go faster when you pass the tipping point.
Yes that's how I feel about it

I feel I turned 40 just last week.

I've done 26 countries since then

We went for a wee walk away from the town earlier . Not many pics but it's a bit cleaner and less rubbish which is good , although we did stumble over a dead cat ☹️.

There's a cool wee French car on site no idea what it is but it can be a car a convertible, a pick up truck ...you name it . Very versatile.

Also looks a bit damp, surely not.

Happy birthday!
with regards to the sat nav, I used Maps.Me in France & Spain before Christmas & found it quite good at routing. I had no phone data for a while, but could download map areas when I had wifi to use later. It does Morocco so may be a help? Also, basic French with Duolingo (free) would make you feel a bit more at home I think? Good idea to stay on the campsite for a few days to get your bearings!

Yes CaptainPaul Told me about maps me so i downloaded it on my phone . Didnt realise you could use it without it using data though so ill have to check that out. Id have preferred it on my tablet but i might have to just get a second sim for that while im here

i have duolingo as i still use it for spanish. I get well conflustered though and end up speaking part English part Spanish with a hint of del boy French. I have great respect for these people who can speak multiple languages i get well muddled

Good idea to take a few days off from driving and seeing all of the depressing stuff.

Yeah with the scooter on the back it's at least 1.5 metre longer than the hymer and around 600kg heavier. If remapping made a big difference I'd be quite happy with it. There's a place does remaps near Strabane where I'm going tomorrow anyway , I've sent them an online request for a quote. Might be worth popping in to see them , see if they can do it and test it.
Hiya Tam
I have the same 8m van as you albeit the bed-over-garage & 5.25 ton version, and I don't have any major issues going up hills, but that's because its been remapped - although well before I bought it, I have receipt in the vans doc pack.
So might be worth a try before resorting to selling
Cheers
Steve

Happy Birthday Tam! :birthday:

50 = a big milestone, and yes, the clock just goes faster and faster from then onwards... (y)

We used Google Translate with Arabic sometimes - often it's not your French that's at fault but theirs! French is a second language for Moroccans after all. Next time I'll download the language files at home when I have wifi, in advance. Then you don't need the internet to use it. You can just put it in conversation mode, and each of you speaks and it translates. Sometimes it feels like magic, and I worked in the computer industry!

Happy Birthday Tam 🎈 🎂. I’ve got 6 years on you!
Campsite looks nice quiet spot to recharge your batteries. £3.22 a night you’d be a daftie not to avail yourself of their generosity.
