Oh Tam I'm going to love following this part of your adventure I really enjoyed exploring Asilah the streets with the pained houses, but a memory I'll never forget, we had a guide who was studying English a lovely young man but it was the story he genuinely told he took us into little ally's were the houses were overlooking one another with very small windows with bars af different sizes he explained that the women could just look across at the other windows but not be really seen, then explained that once a month after their time of the month their husbands wrapped a carpet around them and took them to the local hammam were they would bath and be able to talk to the other women but only once a month.
Then he took us to see a lovely white round building over looking the sea apparently that was were the husband took to their wives to talk to the religious man until the wife seen sense if she was going crazy,. he explained all this and that his grandmother could remember it without even a thought of how strange it all sounded to us, in fact although we said we would not use guides the knowledge and places they showed us for very little cost was worth it.
It is a fascinating country I always bore in mind a lot have so very little and we have so much they do love trading we did a lot. It's often worth giving the guardians a few dirums because you know then your van is safe.

enjoy and thank you for taking us on the virtual journey.

After lunch I had a walk up to the souk and medina again with CaptainPaul much busier and lively on a Saturday, I wanted a jeelaba and a traditional made poncho hood and a wee souvenir for mum as I like to pick her up the odd thing from new places , so we were in a few shops bantering prices for the items , in the end I picked the stripey jeelaba the capn posted earlier, its a camel wool and silk number , good quality and heavier made for those colder vanlife nights lol 300 dirhams in the end bartered down from 500 .

You could spend a small fortune in these shops as there is some truly beautiful stuff for sale , the pillows , cushions, ornamental stuff is fantastic. I got mum a nice ornate teapot for 80 dirhams and a wee wooden camel for my dashboard for 19 dirhams.

We somehow picked up a guide who after worming his way in by telling us a lot of tosh about Scottish friends etc and that we had bought jeelaba from the right place etc ...just thought he was being friendly originally but we could not get rid of him again and he followed us around for about 40 minutes , we were in and out several shops where I tried on about 8 different ponchos but eventually found one I really liked in a mix of different colours in camel wool ....@CaptainPaul bartered a deal on it from 400 dirhams to 250 and presented it to me for my birthday....I love it . It will be great for those cold nights sat outside cooking.
