That's your choice though, just as others make their choice. You choose to only work for part of the year, if you worked more maybe you could afford campsites but then wouldn't be able to travel as you do. No criticism, just observation.Yep I hate to say it but I share that view mostly.
I've said it before about this and other things , it's greed and too much money that causes most problems in the world
Simply put I can't afford to live my lifestyle if I have to pay for campsites or aires , yet my lifestyle is the cheapest way I can live. I can't afford to buy a house again , I'm not even sure what fulltime job I could get if I had to.
Assuming because someone has an expensive MH means they have money to go on sites all the time isn't necessarily true, nor that they could sell up etc, I suspect quite a few live in them full time just like you do, regardless they have every right to use them as they wish, just like you.So if eventually all the free spots go I'm buggered ... but someone with the funds to buy a 300k motorhome won't face that problem they'll either use sites , or they'll sell up and do something else.
And some of those 'cool folk' will likely have made a pretty penny selling them previously.I saw the same thing happen in the vw scene when folk with money started buying restored campers for crazy money ....pushed up the price and now the cool folk who used to build them and enjoy them can no longer afford them.
The insiders were the ones who sold them though.Property went the same way , locals grow up in the country and islands and can't afford to live there as outsiders pushed up the prices.
I think intolerance of others is more likely.Greed will destroy all in the end
That's their choice though, you don't know why they have the stuff they do.I can't possibly see the need for the size of some of these rigs or the crazy amount of stuff they cart behind them.
It's the selfish ones who cause the issues and I can tell you from what I've observed on my current holiday that the most selfish are those in small to medium-sized MHs and campers and those in cars and basic vans etc. The big rigs tend mostly to park up out of the way.But they don't care as when that place bans it they'll just go somewhere else
Choice ... We all make choices, we can't expect others to make different choices because you want your way of life but won't let them have theirs. It's folk that don't have the money or the options that suffer in the end
OMG!! I thought my Frankie was a big boy LOL
And then they buy up half of North Norfolk for their weekend retreatsNot just in Scotland, South East is just as bad, London comuters buy up property in the villages & small towns, locals who were born there can't afford to live in their own village.
You should be a defence lawyerThat's your choice though, just as others make their choice. You choose to only work for part of the year, if you worked more maybe you could afford campsites but then wouldn't be able to travel as you do. No criticism, just observation.

If someone tried to tell me that because I can afford campsites etc I shouldn't wildcamp they'd be extremely unwise, just as I would be by telling someone that because they don't have a gin palace they can't use them.
Excuses? Nope, just sensible thinking by me.You should be a defence lawyer
They too are gifted at making excuses
Oh that's a shame ... I was only just getting my teeth stuck in!There's too many points in there to answer so I can't be bothered lol
We told you it was tiny even my little Hymer is bigger than yours.OMG!! I thought my Frankie was a big boy LOL
Basically one answer fits allExcuses? Nope, just sensible thinking by me.
Oh that's a shame ... I was only just getting my teeth stuck in!
Nope, not really, I took the time to respond to all your comments, if you don't want to address them that's up to you, no need to do so though as your choice.Basically one answer fits all
Wow didn't realise you were around then.Man has attempted to justify greed as need since the dawn of time.
The problem is though that assumptions have been made that those who own big rigs etc are wealthy which isn't necessarily the case. We met a lovely German couple in a beautiful old large Clou Liner, they may have been able to afford something newer but loved the beastie, would you assume they were wealthy because they had an old big rig or not?It never changes and it never fools anyone. And it is the one thing destroying everything that's good.
We can deny it or we can acknowledge it.
I've always acknowledged it, and I'm quite happy with my lot. I wouldn't thank you for being wealthy so I've no desire to ever accomplish it.

You have your chosen lifestyle which suits you, some may not agree with it, others will no doubt envy it. To some it may be seen as 'selfish' by wanting places to park up for free and exclude others so you can do so, but expect the facilities (roads, drains, local services etc) to be paid for so you can use them for free whilst you contribute minimally to them. Of course these things would be there even if you didn't use them though possibly paid for by the very people you want to exclude from 'free parking'.
You are greedy, I am greedy, everyone is greedy, it's just a matter of the level and the effect on others.
I would argue on that . Even my 6 berth 8 metre van is too big. I don't need half the stuff I carry either. So it isn't about need it's more about statusIt's all down to what you're comparing with. Same as the size of motorhomes. When a PVC arrives at an aire full of 7.50m motorhomes taking all the space he might be wondering why they have to be so large when he can travel quite comfortably in his 6m van?
You'll say because they need to carry the stuff they can't do without? Well people with RV also have belonging they can't do without, why can't they have a bigger van for them?
I'm heading to malaga now as I don't really want to come back up to nerja in a few weeks...anyway, what vet have you finally decided upon for Ela?
Better not criticise parking too close then or you will be blocked for life!!The two guys that run P4N are French.
bigtwin notwithstanding your obese neighbours, it looks a nice spot. Where is it?Yes, our van (Dethleffs tag) is the same size as yours Tam. It’s the middle one in the picture below and is dwarfed by our neighbours:

Granted I like a spot with a view if I can get one. But I don't have a view when I'm parked in mums driveway either. I'm not much bothered about being able to sit outside the van either really as long as I'm within walking distance of nice places I can sit ...ie the beach or in a nice town or village etc. So most times I'm just after a free place to park that's quiet enough to sleep without lots of noise. We don't wildcamp , just use aires, cls etc in the UK and campsites. Wildcamping, in Spain at least, sounds much more difficult than it used to be. Shame for those that like it but a carpark with loads of other campers and no view doesn't sound attractive to me.
I can see your point though re the cost of doing it any other way. At least you're there enjoying the sun while we're stuck here in minus temps and snow.
Hope all goes well with wee ElaSo I've now arrived in malaga , I could have probably got here in half the time had I listened to the satnav but I wanted to drive down the coast so I ignored its constant attempts to take me on motorways. So I've managed to get parked on the street parallel to the vets which is good . Lot more restrictions here now so parking somewhere pretty is damm near impossible but I'm 100 yards from the beach and promenade should I decide to stay here tonight. View attachment 707561
The vets is where the red circle is. . Its a quiet street so I will see how it goes .
I'm staying just outside Valencia on a wee farm and the boy has just brought us wild orange honey from his bees and a few freshly picked mandarin oranges from his orange grovesGranted I like a spot with a view if I can get one. Actually I think they are Dutch ,at least the site is.The two guys that run P4N are French.
I'm sure they were French, Camper Contact is Dutch.Actually I think they are Dutch ,at least the site is.
I think his name is Frederique and he was on here ,pity he doesn't comment.
You are right, Normandy apparently, and can't see any mention of this Frederick guy now and just looked back and apparently you commented on a thread in 2016 with his forum name, Broken Link RemovedI'm sure they were French, Camper Contact is Dutch.
I always thought he was British. Seems stupid calling it park4night in EnglishI'm sure they were French, Camper Contact is Dutch.
It's not a unimog .. its a vario same as mine that's why I'm following them .Tam.
I think he is being super optimistic on his Unimog's Fuel Consumption.
1100KMS divided by 175Ltrs of fuel =6.2857 KMS/Ltr
1100KMS is 683.50 miles
I Imp Gallon = 4.546 Ltrs 175ltrs divided by 4.546= 38.49Gallons
683.50 miles divided by 38.49 gallons =17.5 MPG. For a Unimog?
If he uses all of his "3.5 tonne Payload" then its going to raise his consumption even more, especially in the dessert!
Maybe he should have a second tank fitted.
LES
Maybe he's just being kind to the fuel thieves!!It's not a unimog .. its a vario same as mine that's why I'm following them .
Just seems crazy to me to carry that much fuel and water. And if its fir the suspension like he said its pointless anyway as it will only work when full and the ride will get worse as the tanks go down
