Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

Sitting outside on your camping chairs is (in law) considered camping not parking and can often be the "trigger" for the Police to move people on (particularly if a resident has complained) so it is prudent not to use your chairs close to your van.
in the case Tam mentions there is a fantastic beach within 200 yards of the vans!

If sitting outside my van is a 'problem', I wouldn't stay.........I don't want to sit 200 yards from my van..... too far to refill my glass !

Seems to me staying on Aires has too many rules, just to travel on the 'cheap'...........

I don't think that the no chairs rule applies on official Aires (I'm not sure though) however it does apply on areas where camping is prohibited but parking is OK

That's the thing it isn't an aire , I personally wildcamp because it gets me where I want to be so I accept that with that you have to follow the no camping rule.
Unfortunately the ones sitting outside in chairs results in the police moving everyone even those like myself who are simply parking.

Sitting right behind a no camping sign blatantly camping is like sticking a middle finger up to the police

I'd rather sit on the beach or in a bar or restaurant and have someone else fill my glass using the money I would have spent in an aire or campsite

A lot of the aires also specify no chairs etc but not all of them.
Some that identify as aires are really campsites hence their high rates

The problem we have is that locals see (mostly) expensive MHs taking the pi$$........... making a mess, devaluing their homes and living on the cheap............. itinerants ?..... better or not ?

You definitely have a good point BB! :)

However at Bolnuevo, the place Tam mentioned, there are no long stay "freeloaders" taking the piss and trashing the place just mainly well behaved wild campers stopping off for a night or too and not making a mess - in my book that's fine, however if it became like La Azohia where they are a "blot on the landscape" then that is a different matter

Anyway - little or no chance of that happening in Bolnuevo as the local Police are more "on the case"

Moved on this morning thought I'd pop past la azohia to see Dave N Marsha ....jeeso can't see the appeal here rotten parking spots and really is ridiculous how many vans are on here ....i won't be staying lol there's a nice looking spot in the sierra de la muela I've my eye on for tonight but will see what it's like

Got a token pic of franky under the erosions this morning will make a nice main photo for her for sale add ha ha

as far as i know even on the french ones no chairs etc . there was notices at many a couple years ago with the rules on .
a few years ago there was regular guardia etc moving m,homes on from there . it does seem to have got better . but if folk do spoil it it will be a shame .
used to be nice the other side of port mazzaron by the palm trees before they changed the road and built more apartments etc .

Fully agree with your comments on La Azohia Tam

Great picture of Franky!! :)

A wee drive up to "La muela cabo tinoso" between la azohia and cartagena to visit another battlement this is one of the better preserved ones and still has the guns etc which going by the road I had to drive up to get here that must have been a serious task getting them up here.

Great comment Tam - we had a coffee this morning at the cafe in front of you and to the right (at the corner of the big open space you are on) and Mrs T remarked on how well behaved your neighbours were - all parked with decent spacing and no tables, chairs etc. in view!

We are off to Aranjuez on Friday :)
Have you been to Aranjuez before ? We stopped there on way down and did the palace audio guide tour. Decided it saved us a trip into Madrid as it said throne room a copy of the one in palace in Madrid, then the Capi de Monti room was copied in Madrid palace, then the Moroccan room a copy of one in Alhambra. We enjoyed the visit.

Good job no-one was in there before you! The last time we went there, there were two mohos parked there.
Well there is one parked behind me out of sight ...it belongs to a lovely Bavarian couple werner and gurty who have been plying me with beer and wine all afternoon/evening ...ive only just staggered back to franky in the dark lol
Have had a right old laugh and they have told me some great places to stop further south.

They also told me about the bocadellos and you can take in bottles to have them filled with wine and sherry ...how come you lot didn't tell me about this

Back in cartagena for the weekend ....see if I can catch some of this semana Santa parades etc. .. there was one started at 03.30 this morning but that's too keen for me like

There really are some people who have motorhomes that shouldn't be allowed in the roads ..there a couple here with the smallest hymer you've seen and it's taken 15 minutes for them to park it in an empty carpark ...shes out directing him and it's been back and forth about 20 times ....i didn't know you got them that small it's like 5 metres or something

Must be French nearly all of them park like that, be very wary of single French Motorhomes, saw one last year reverse into a brand new N & B Liner I ratted on him.

For small size one here got to take some beating an Autocruise, body is barely longer than the Fiat cab looks weird.

To be honest if this guy hits anything it woukd be a miracle there's about 25ft either side of him nothing in front and although there is a wall behind there's a kerb and 8ft of pavement before he would get near it

I think it's German but not sure ....hymer a class with a garage and a bed above but honestly it's no more than 5 metres long.

I might go talk to them later so I can sneak a peak inside it.

I want a 6 metre hymer or hobby to replace franky but probably be a few years older and a lot cheaper seen a couple of layouts I liked on eBay:)

Pmsl I've still got a sore head from last night ..werner had big old ceramic beer steiners in his van and he kept refilling the thing ...i was trying to hide the fact I'd finished but he kept lifting the lid and saying "mein got your not here to dry out I thought you were scottish" then he'd fiil it up again and shout "prost"
And then his wife gurty kept saying try this sherry and this wines nice etc....im no a big drinker I was bladdered by midnight

But I drew the line at the olives....man how anyone can eat those they are rank. ..and they had about ten different sorts with almonds and stuff......yeeeeuch.

I can't see this wee hymer anymore cause some bugger has parked a bloody big Concorde next to me and blocked out the sunlight.

But the police have been in twice now and they walked around my van ...didnt knock on the door or anything then drove away again which was a bit weird as they didn't go to any of the other vans.

Very strange
