Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

My dog rolls in crap as well she is 3 now but learning she rolls in something she gets hosepipe and shampoo and she doesn't like water - she goes down on front head turns to side then rubs it with side of face - likes it by her ears i think - has 2nd thoughts if i'm close by
Yes I'm hoping jade associates a hose wash with rolling in poo and stops it. I'm not mean with her and I don't like doing it but I really want her to stop as the car seat is now disgusting and I can't have that in my mum's house or in my camper

If the batteries are Gel often good for 10 years life.
Hymer use a Reich Tandem submersible pump, not as powerful as the Sureflo in Frankie but adequate. Sometimes, especially if run dry one of the two motors fail. About £40 to replace.
Not sure which is in it lenny but I saw recharge date of 2007 so coukd well be original batteries.

The pump I think is needing replaced as took ages to get air out of system and get water through and then it wasn't very powerful
Toilet flush was almost non exsistant

After sleeping on it I've messaged him this morning and offered 18500 which would give me that 500 to replace batteries the pump and a few other wee bits on it so it's useable right away.

If he accepts that I'll go for it
But if not I think I'm gonna walk away and see what else comes up.

I had given myself a maximum 20k budget for my next van and I want to try and stick to that if I can.

Can only try and if he turns it down then it wasn't meant to be.

Jade will roll in anything smelly, G found a half decomposed Seal on a beach and came away every colour & smell!
She will grow out of it but you do have to watch them!
Think you may have done the right thing to leave that van, ‘if in doubt walk away’ that’s my motto!
I think you should stick to an A class & probably about 7mtrs having been used to the space of Franky you may find anything else a bit cramped!

Do your own self build. You'll get it exactly how you want it and know every bit is just right. We're just about to put our 10m van with a slide into storage and move into a 7m sprinter we're in the process of converting. And we've gained a dog as well so another big downsizing, first when we moved from 3bed house the rv now from the rv to the sprinter. It's so freeing clearing out move stuff.

Yes I'm discovering that lol .
Fortunately my mum has a good stock of shampoo lol.

I've sent him the message offering the 18500
If he takes that then I'll buy it and will do the wee jobs on it and give it a seriousky good clean up.

But if he turns it down I'll just wait and see what comes up as I'm not in a desperate hurry.

I don't want to buy one and then spend thousands putting it Right as that defeats the purpose of downgrading.

I forgot just how stressful it is trying to find another van ....And they are never near by

I was tempted but it's not so easy to do when used to all the features franky had

Still not sure I could full term in a pvc

That one I viewed is perfect for space and size it's just the condition that has me hesitating

Which part ?

It looked ok to me
Says it has a U shaped lounge. Unless they think a side bench and a dinette is U shaped? Worries me if the detail is wrong as I wonder what else maybe wrong! Dealers do it all the time, but it’s just careless if you ask me!

Yeah its because there's a cushion goes between the dinette and the bench seat behind the cab seats so some folk describe that as a u shape lounge to get attention.

The euromobil has the same design

@Northernraider
Tam, do you think you’ve got the feeling that you don’t have a van so you’ve got to get one?
Are you absolutely sure this Hymer owner is really clueless or is it an act to avoid awkward questions.
If I have that much ‘should I-shan’t I’-feelings I usually walk away.
Don’t forget there are plenty more vans out there!

I’m a bit surprised by his haven’t got a clue as well, especially as he said we’ve just done Europe without a hiccup ..?

If you do Europe you get to know your van pretty quickly...

I think the fact you drove away from it, thinking about the ifs and buts and maybes says don’t buy it. Just my opinion because that’s what I do. You will know when you see the right one and it feels right. Good luck whatever you decide. (y)
I think it's because I've always tinkered and messed around with stuff so have always had an eye for the potential.
But it has to be priced right to make that worth while for me to do it.

I know I can sort out all the issues with that van I just have to feel it's worth it.

Franky wasn't perfect when I bought it either but she was pretty close when I sold her but I did spend nearly 5 grand on her since I bought her last August.

Don't want to spend that again on an older van.

Aye but he did 3 weeks in Portugal on a campsite in May

Never used the heating or the shower etc

And never bloody cleaned it when they came back

She's won't make the association Tam,you have 3 seconds for the dog to associate the behaviour with your reaction. So you have no chance with her having a three hour car journey and being fed chicken strips.
It's one of the joys of dog ownership,it's in their genes as well as on your car seat you've just gotta learn to live with it.
Ps. Maybe you should be looking for a Moho with an outside shower.

Nice vans .The @Badknee 's , Paul & Angela have one & full time in it. also @Emmit
I'd have one tomorrow if I could afford it.:( Seem a good well built & hard wearing van.

@gus-lopez,

I protest! @Badknee has the 'Big Arris' version:moon2:, he's got two spare tyres, four if you include the scooter,(as in real life) whilst my back end is svelte and well proportioned.:hi5:

In other words, he's got the tag axle but ours is the compact???? and bejioux single axle 600.:active:

I wanted the BIG one but Mrs Emmit said that after a lifetime of handling little ones, I wouldn't know what to do with the extra length. Eh???
Also she said she wouldn't want one that big inside????

Yeah that's the one I was interested in the 600 or 650 with French bed but a the ones available just now are transverse or 2 singles.

I like the bigger ones but I did say I wanted to go shorter so the brain tells me no more tags lol

We have the twin beds. It was probably one of the first to have low level singles as it's on an X244 front end although it's 57 Reg. Highly recommend the build quality

Oiy! Oiy! Oiy! You leave my masculine rear end alone thank you, I like my wheels just where they are shorty

Hymer use the Reich. IMO they're a better pump all round than the Shurflo. And quieter.

Reich 19L /min @ 1.4 Bar £39.73 (Amazon)
Shurflow Caravan (usual fitment) 10.6L/min @ 2 Bar £54.76 (Amazon)
Sureflow Highest O/P model 18L/min @ 1.4 Bar

I just know the shower in franky would put dents in you lol but that one yesterday was pretty poor and toilet flush was useless.

It also had a lot of air in pipes it took absolutely ages to get water through to them all. So May be a new pump required

@Northernraider
When are you planning to fetch the Hymer.
If we are around give us a shout we will be more than happy to pick you up from the train station.
I'm just checking with bank if I can transfer that amount in one transaction and then checking train again

I can get to Macclesfield tomorrow just after 12 noon
The guy had offered to collect me from the station before I haggled another 500 off it so hopefully still will ha ha

Sounds like a sticking one way valve, most Hymers they are fitted to the top of the water pump, the pumps with the valve are cheaper than the ones without!
