Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

So this is my cheap wee banger I bought for getting around in ...:)

We've just been up for a walk around downhill loch...it's like doggy central up there but jade is finally learning to read other dogs and isn't just bouncing up to bull terriers etc now ...She's had a few growls and barks so is realising not all dogs appreciate a bouncy wet puppy jumping on them lol

I’m pleased you sold frankie tam,, bravo,, but I am more concerned about the bloke that bought it!!!

If you left a FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, cd in the player, when he hits the button, he will go either one of two ways,,,,

He will drive off the nearest bridge!!!
Or
He will get home,, rip the top off a can of Stella,, eat a raw chicken from the fridge, throw his Mrs over the table and give her a good seeing to!!! Either way,, you will have changed his life!!! Xx
My wife says send me a copy and she'll wait in the kitchen

Another 3 bags filled for the charity shop

Can you believe I was carrying 10 scatter cushions and 4 fur throws ha ha ha

I've reduced my 12 pairs of shoes plus crocs and candles to 4 pairs plus crocs
The sandals were knackered so binned them

70 t shirts is now approx 40 but I like them

Tam

I was following your posts prior to going touring 5 weeks ago.

I have now just caught up from page 271.

My apologises for not keeping up.

Catching up has taken an hour. An emotionally draining hour.

What a roller-coaster for you: Mum's health, dash home, Jade, selling Franky, scooter. Just reading it all was a mini roller-coaster for me too.

Hopefully the biggest worry, Mum's health, is slowly being sorted. Frankie has gone. A guy like you will get a job easily - give them this thread as a CV!

I do not know this forum's rules about copyright, but I reckon you could sell this thread for film rights - just need to write a few ladies into the storyline - the ones you have not told us about;)

Now, when you have a new MH and are heading to Eastern Europe you must promise to let us know when you will be in S. Poland, where there will be a welcome for you and Jade and a place in our yard with EHU, water and disposal points, plus a good meal or two cooked by Basia - all a part repayment for your excellent thread and photos.

Hope Mum improves and you find your new MH.

I will be more dilligent at following thread now we are home,

Geoff

I did quite like this one but owner isn't negotiating and I'm not paying that :p
Right so I'm getting somewhere with this one now :)
Anyone see any issues with this that I can't see ?

It's a bit far for me to travel twice so if I go down there it's to buy it

There's plenty of black marks down the sides from the window drains. Wonder what the roof is like ?

Also there is nothing whatsoever about it having been serviced, cam belt kit, etc; ?

It’s rhd ... you’ll regret it..

I've jist viewed this burstner harmony in kirkcaldy

https://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/motorhome/1315625987

Leaking skylights, signs of a leak on back wall, both sides someone has stuck silicone along the joints between roof and walls, upholstery is filthy, lifted shower Matt to check tray and slimey gunk all over it, van hasnt been cleaned, does come with a load of extras full safari room etc and a 32 inch tv lol.
Nothing that can't be fixed or cleaned up but 13k would be more likely to me though I doubt he'd accept it.

Who bought Frankie? The guy thats in Nigeria or someone else? Your gumtree link isn't loading.

Right so I've jist got off the phone with the hymer owner he's had the van 2.5 years
It hasn t been serviced since last may but then it's only done 3000 miles since then.
It's not been hab checked in the 2.5 years he's had it.
Cambelt was done at 70000 miles by previous owner and done again at 89000 miles by this owner when last serviced in may 2017 he says he has receipt for that
It's the spec I want and has the equipment I want and I can get it under my budget price.

I don't suppose there's anyone anywhere near leek that could take a quick look at this for me just to make sure there's no obvious issues like leaks or damp.
The servicing etc doesn't bother me as I'd always get a full service done on it anyway.

He insists there's no damp or leaks but no disrespect to the guy but I don't think he's an experienced motorhome I think it may be his first one.

Mot history on its pretty good with only one fail in it's past for brake inbalance.

I'm off to the hospital to visit mum now but I'm tempted just to go for it.

My other problem is getting someone to babysit jade for me for a day till I go down on train to leek

Hi Tam. Dogs are allowed on vitually all trains nowadays (no charge), however I realise it's a very long way for her.

There are a few active funsters in the area @Paul and Kate @Neckender @Figaro

Wish I could babysit Jade, just given Charlie back to his mum this afternoon and house feels empty!:(
I meant close to me in Fife as I don't want to leave her In the house that long while I travel down on train and drive back up.

A good solid choice Tam.

A couple things to check on older Hymer of that vintage immediately on viewing as well as the usual things that you know about.

Shower tray condition? Cracks/damage etc, although this one maybe ok as its a separate shower, it is the combined toilet floor/shower tray ones that seem more prone to damage

Get under the floor, especially from the rear wheels backwards and check for damp areas and rot. The ones with the big garages and transverse bed are worst in my experience, the ones with the hab door at the rear not as badly affected although still need checking. I have viewed loads and nearly everyone says''Well mine is perfect'' Until you get there and ask them to get underneath with you. ''Oh I didn't know about that'' is then the next sentence they utter.
I have put my finger up behind loads of skirts and felt a damp, soggy mess, even putting my finger straight into the soggy, squelchy mess.

All locker doors, especially the garage door for sign of leaks, do a water test on it with a watering can or something.

The front and rear seals on the roof for signs of leaking(inside check)

You will know about every thing else to check.

I was alerting them to your shout out for people near Leek.
I realise that you need someone at home in Fife for the lovely Jade :D

+it is @old-mo 's territory & I think @Badknee was also hanging around there.

Take her with you is the best way.Bit more awkward but it'll put your mind at rest.
