Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

We'll it's morning so Val's either sat up all night watching for the creature from the deep to re-emerge or it's disappeared .

Tam I'm glad your mum is better than you expected. In the tradition of the Morning Funsters I'm sending her

@big map and @Northernraider sorry folks, I'm too much of a troglodyte to find or manage that -but Google solved the identification problem and a large boot of mine solved the next potential difficulty.
Thanks anyway - I had a scorpion ensconced under my sofa!

Holy cow poo ...i never saw any of them

Yeah, I was surprised at it's colour, I wondered if they were a bit like camelions and blended with their surroundings (clay /sand )? Anyway it is now demised.

I don't know to be honest ...ive never seen one up close but I think I'd have battered it with a big stick ....don't they have a nasty sting?

All scorpions have a venomous sting, but the vast majority of the species do not represent a serious threat to humans and in most cases healthy adults do not need any medical treatment after being stung.[4] Only about 25 species are known to have venom capable of killing a human.

I think so, I don't really know either, so I shut the dogs out of the room, donned a pair of substantial hiking boots , went in pursuit and stamped on it. Yuk!
But does my street cred get a few browny points now? :D2
It certainly does, well done. I think we all assumed you meant a garden spider, not knowing you were in Spain.

Spiders don't bother me - they help keep the flies down - mice are no problem , in an earlier life I even dealt with large rats and the occasional grass snake! but it was my first scorpion (and hopefully my last ),though I think it was probably fairly juvenile (about an inch and a half +) that'll do me.

I can't believe that I've owned franky for over a year I toured all round Spain etc getting sore knees when I sat in the cab seats with my feet up on the sofa .....and all the time I had the proper booster cushions for the cab seats in my mum's attic.

When I bought the van I wondered what these weird shaped cushions were for and they werent pillows so I stuck them in the loft with the big table and the carpets etc.

Then I met @Deanobeano in Calais the night before I got the chunnel and he told me that's what they were for

Booster cushions for the cab seats to make them same height as sofa......

Well at least the next owner will appreciate them

According to Indiana Jones its the small ones that are dangerous,,,,BUSBY:D2:D2

Decided against the little franky.
It wasn't bad but ideally my next van I want to have for a while and I'm not sure that was the one for me.
I'm viewing a burstner t625 harmony on Saturday

With a garage that size you could have made a few quid in people transport:D.
Great to hear your mum's putting a brave face on things. Hopefully things improve for both of you.
John

Good luck with the sale of your van and the purchase of a new one whatever it might be. The trips been fantastic for you and for all of us to enjoy. (y)

Morning Tam. Glad you made the connection to the booster cushions!

I can imagine you thinking all year that Franky is so well designed and built but why the f**k are these front seats so bleedin low? Surely dem German's would have thought of something...

I know this, 'cos the same thoughts went through my head...until I found the boosters in the wardrobe.

vorsprung durch technik or this from 1min in

Without wanting to sound pedantic, and having enjoyed following your thread all the way through, now you are back, should you change the thread title or start a new thread. How about "The next chapter" as a title

I dunno while the UK is still part of Europe ( till those feckin brexiteers get there way ) the title is still technically correct

Today's adventure is hunting down a cheap car for transport as my mum's picanto is ridiculously small for a 6ft 4 16 stone guy :p

Well Tam you said you needed to lose weight again and getting in and out of the car would keep you flexible lol.
Hope your Mum is gradually feeling better. How is Jade coping with her new lifestyle?

Ha more like I'd end up with back problems then we would really be screwed.

Mum's perky enough but not happy she's going to be in hospital for at least 3 weeks possibly 6 and then still not the most mobile when she gets out.

What new lifestyle lol we still living in the van

The elderly mother in law of a friend had been born and raised on a croft in the highlands, married her next door neighbour and raised her own family, ultimately was widowed and struggling to live alone.
After several falls she finally agreed to go into a home.
She wondered why she had not done it years earler! She was warm and well cared for, could do as much or as little for herself as she wished. Had trips out and entertainment laid on and could receive visitors at any time.
She had five or so very happy years before passing away.
I realise one hears horror stories but there must also be a lot of happy ones that one never hears about.
It might be worth liasing with the rest of your family and quietly looking around your neighbourhood for such a place.
Sorry Tam but it might be worth considering.
