I will get round to updating this soon ...been a bit of a drama last few days. Mum's taken poorly again she's had a fall and to make matters worse her wee dog passed away the other day so she's right down in the dumps.

Still shaking off this damm cold it's in my chest now and I'm coughing like someone on 40 a day.
Currently in santiago in Galicia

Loads of photos of past places but internets been a little funny at times ...think there's some weird interference up this way as the satnav is also playing silly beggars

Anyway I'll get there ....at some point

Tam

Welcome back., but I think I missed whatever it was that made you leave, but well done for asking Jim to re-open the thread.

Sorry your news is not good at the moment. Do you think that parking the MH and flying back to Mum for a wee while might be a good idea?

I have always told Basia that if her Mum has any problem then a taxi to the nearest airport, credit card on the counter and the next available flight, scheduled/business class/whatever is available to her. It is easier for us being two as I can stay to sort out the MH parking and follow her.

Of course you would also have the problem of 'parking' Jade, which makes it more difficult.

I hope your Mum is recovering.

Take it easy and just post when you feel like it, but good to have you back chum.

Geoff

Tam , re the above post. If you feel the need to fly home ,post on here you never know a funster in your area may be willing to look after the dog , hope mums getting better soon

Have you been eating that garlic and raw onion like I told you to?
That’ll cure it!
:)(y);)

Welcome back. Great photos as always. Sorry to hear about your mum and her dog. Hope she improves quickly.

I was in Hearn bay this morning tam! Now you should see them pics!!! A proper place! Lolol

Left Porto and headed along the coast hoping for a bit of sunshine after a dull couple of days in Porto with a rotten cold :(

Unfortunately the coast was burried under scotch mist ( see first 2 pics ) so I headed to the city of Braga where I stayed at a lovely spot in a park ...nice town lots of lovely old buildings to see.

The next morning we headed about 3 or 4 km to visit the sanctuary of "bom jesus" as reviews on Google said you couldnt visit Braga without a hike up to bom Jesus and a hike it certainly is ...especially when blinded by snot and coughing up a lung over 600 steps I struggled up looking like death ....jade on the other hand ran up and down them like a headcase bouncing over everyone

It's certainly impressive I give them that ....theres buildings all the way up each containing each stage of the crucifixion I won't post them all but mum likes this stuff so I took pics of them all and sent her them...i love the architecture of churches and the grandness off them but that's where my interest ends..... ..the gardens at the top are lovely...and there was like a grotto cave thing under a bandstand type viewpoint ...not sure if the grotto is natural or man made but it looks good. I Couldn't visit inside the main building cause no dogs allowed and if she can't go in neither can I
So much for God being all welcoming hmphhh
There's a huge carpark here with welcome signs for motorhomes lots of spaces and lots of French ...i didn't stay as it was still early In the day and I wanted to press on.

So after that it was basically a drive up towards the border and spent my last night just accross the river from Spain.
Nice aire again on a park with a services ...it was weird to take pics where one side of the river was Portugal and the other was Spain.
So here's the last few pics of Portugal.

Was good to cross the border and fill up with diesel at €1.24 a litre instead of the €1.37 - 1.46 I was paying in portigal.
Next stop was mercadona:D ....well stocked up.

I'll post the pics from the border onwards later on my thumbs getting sore.

To answer the few posts since I mentioned mum.
Her wee dog has been not well the last month or so ....we thought she was maybe just going through a bad spell but she was becoming less and less active ....ger breathing was becoming laboured and she was wetting herself frequently ....a visit to the vet suggested she perhaps was in her last few months but wasn't in any serious pain ....then a few weeks back her back legs had gone and she wasn't getting out of bed ...mums been lifting and carrying her everywhere and spoon feeding her and having to constantly bath her etc ....well on Monday she fell while carrying the dog in to the bathroom ....she fell on her side against the bath and gave herself a sore one.
Sister had to take her to a&e :(

Another visit to the vet on Tuesday and they confirmed it would be kinder and in best interest to have her put to sleep.
Understandably mum is now devestated and feeling a little lost. It's hard to hear of her like that and I feel a little helpless . I had checked ferry prices from Santander to Portsmouth and amazingly I could get back to UK for 350 quid ....but mum's insisting I'll be back in 5 weeks anyway and it's silly for me to go back any earlier as I'm already cutting the trip short going back in October. In reality I think it's just typical of my mum ...shes old school and she's grieving and with my dad and her other dog dying she likes her own space at these times and will let us know when she needs us. I'm just worried as it took her a good couple of years to get over it when her other dog died ...her feet have also flared up again so she's not getting about much
They are currently in this state ...

Makes my eyes water just looking at them :(

I'm hoping when I'm back having jade around will help her .
If she keeps falling I've threatened to get her a bubblewrap suit aswell as the Christmas present I have on order for her
