Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

So jade got scratched by a cat today and I got bit by a bloody beetle of all things

Lying on the beach and I felt this nip on my arm and a large black beetle was latched on to me.

Jade decided to get too close to a cat and it swiped at her nose .....needless to say she yelped and tried to climb my leg lol

Hopefully she will learn not to go messing with cats as I've tried to tell her they don't like most dogs especially bouncy ones
Something to aim for :D:

Fantastic photos. May be worth considering taking one of the boat trips from Lagos along the coastline, and into some of the caves then out to sea to look at the dolphins. Coastline from the sea is stunning. Not sure if the trips take dogs. Only a suggestion.

Our JRT loves a bit of ice cream, ice cubes she can take or leave, paddling and rock pooling she loves, if it’s really hot she will go in and swim by herself but otherwise she needs a little ‘help’-this doesn’t make her frightened of anything!
If it’s hot a wet towel is ideal for Jade if she can’t get wet or you don’t want her wet!
You have to go by what your particular animal is happy about, what they like/dislike and if you know your animal you know this.
@Tam you seem do be doing ok!

So yesterday I moved on and we stumbled accross the beautiful remote bay between budens and sagres. .the access road was a little bum clenching at bits but once we had committed ourselves there wasn't really anywhere to turn around so just kept going but so worth it in the end , stunning lityle beach and awesome waves ....lots of naturists about which is hardly surprising given how far out in the wilds it was. ..no internet or phone signal though hence my disappearance for 24 hours.
Jade also made friends with this really cool water dog with a rastafarian hair doo ...it was more like a sheep than a dog :)

I've also discovered jade makes an excellent tablet rest when I'm reading :)

This dog is a Spanish Water Dog! You should never comb or brush them or their curls will be gone! They are used in Andalucia to herd the sheep or cattle. Sorry the video is in Spanish but you can see a few good examples of this breed.

Oh boy! You are going to be spoilt for beaches quite soon, when you start up the west coast. I know half the Fun is finding them yourself but don’t miss out on those near Aljezur and then Carrapatiera. Enjoy! Lots of pics please,we’ll be back there next month, but not in the van.(y)(y)

I've found some lovely ones already and it's nice to find ones with real sand again as a lot have been that grainy sand instead of the nice soft stuff.

I'm in sagres now near the fort huge carpark here full of MH and surfers

You know how you hear folk saying you have a heavy right foot?

Well it must be true as these sandals are only 3 months old

Hmm, reckon your back or pelvis is lop-sided, needs the attention of a Mactimony Chiropractor, but you will live without it -just wear out more right shoes :D

We spent the last couple of weeks of last year in Sagres, we quite like it. We were in the Orbitur site, which was reasonably priced and practically empty, very nice pitches under the trees. The car park by the fort was packed full of motorhomes, our idea of hell. If you like a curry, the Holi Diwali is excellent.

I imagine in winter it's heaving but isn't bad just now. ...maybe about 30 vans in this carpark but the carpark is huge so well spread out

View attachment 247122Looks similar to this one we met in Italy a few years ago, owner said it was some sort of Russian sheep dog that blended in with the sheep.
Similar but that ones owner definately said it was a Spanish water dog ....although I've met a few of them on this trip and all have been different but they seem really friendly happy dogs ...i like them just a little big for me in a van.

@Rapphil I have it in the back of my mind that breed of dog is a" Pulli", I'm not sure if that is the correct spelling. I can't check it as Google is being unco-operative tonight.

Sounds familiar, as you can see a large dog compared with our good sized collie and a German’s lab, but very timid.

Went to visit the lighthouse at farol do cabo De sào Vicente nice views very touristy and jade was very popular with a coach full of Americans getting lots of cuddles and some let her lick their faces so she was happy ( dirty sods) guy selling the thickest woolly jumpers you've ever seen but it's 36° so he wasn't doing much trade surprisingly.
Little mobile restaurant where you can get your last sausage before America ha ha

Cool camper van parked in the lighthouse grounds so I'm assuming it belongs to one of the keepers ....kind of liked the hippy sentiment on the back:p

Internet is being a pain so can't upload all the pics

It's too hot and too busy and I'm getting fed up now lol.
Struggling to keep jade cool and in turn I can't keep cool cause I don't want to leave her in the van too long on her own so i can go to the beach

Everywhere is mobbed

We visited Capo de St Vincent lighthouse a few years ago when holidaying on the Algarve. They were selling thick woollies then too. A couple of fishermen swam round to the bottom of the cliffs, then climbed up.

I reckon they would be great in the winter but I couldn't bring myself to buy one in this heat ...even the thought of trying one on had me sweating.

Time to head North!!

Time to head North!!
I dunno because from what I heard from my mum on the news it's hotter north of here.
Because I now plan to be back in the UK for mid October at latest I figured I'd spend another 4 weeks in Portugal then 2 or 3 weeks through north Spain 2 weeks through France and then 3 or 4 days travelling north in uk. Not as much time as I planned to spend in Portugal but I may need to get a couple of months work back in UK before hopefully heading off again next march

So I'm finally parked up at this lovely beach ...got here a few hours ago but it was mobbed so had to hang around before I could get franky's big ass in the carpark.
There's a few vans here mostly Germans and Dutch.
Hopefully get a day at the beach tomorrow and as there's a lagoon bit with no tide I can take jade to that bit a few times to let her paddle about and maybe swim a bit.
I expect I'll be blocked in tomorrow daytime so I'll be here till this time tomorrow at least but I do need some beach time :)

Well it's a busy spot this. .. there's seems to be double the amount of campers and motorhomes here this morning compared to what was here by the time it got dark last night.
Most of the smaller ones are surfers lovely and quiet on the beach this morning though ...this was around 9.30 .....an hour later and carpark is filling up with cars.
I know my van looks badly parked lol but it's actually tucked in behind the carpark exit so it's not taking up several spaces like it looks :p biggest van here so if I park it the other way it sticks out about 1.5 metre past the rest.
