Tam & co the great winter escape

Decided to venture in to Austria while i had a nice dry sunny day ....what better weather to tackle mountain passes and snowy mountains. Stopped now for lunch overlooking the village of nasserieth .

Heres a few photos from the drive . I passed this ruined castle way up on a hill with this suspension bridge crossing over to it about 300 feet in the air ...and there were crazy people crossing it ...not for me lol ...but theres a couple of pics of it in this lot View attachment 554707View attachment 554708View attachment 554709View attachment 554710View attachment 554711View attachment 554712View attachment 554713View attachment 554714View attachment 554715View attachment 554716View attachment 554717View attachment 554718View attachment 554719View attachment 554720View attachment 554721View attachment 554722

Tam, you really are a law unto yourself got to admire your take on things.
How many threads have we had lately about dire consequences of entering Austria without viggnets or go boxes and stuff, but you just up and decide to venture in because it's a nice day.
All power to you mate. (y) (y) (y) (y) :giggle:

Never seen those threads to be honest but ive just driven straight through austria without a vignette etc ...its pretty easy to be honest and the non toll road isn't too bad. Ive just came through brenner half an hour ago the snow there is unreal ...im now in italy parked up where i was last year with about a dozen other motorhomes.

Coming through the wee shopping outlet at brenner the snow was piled 3ft high on the side of the road so they've had a lot of snow in the southern part of Austria lately it would seem hence my reason not to stay the night and came straight through. Id like to take the route through dolomites again but not sure if ill risk it or not ill wait to see what the weather looks like tomorrow.

Stay on the minor roads and life's all good in Austria ;)
I followed the 179 ,171 and the 182 all the way through ...no tolls and no hassles ...lots of speed camera's though but not pushing it anyway so all is well.
Minor turn off on to 183 as i put wrong digit in satnav for a parkup and ended up in a mountain village in the snow so made a quick escape lol.

Not really mornings are a nightmare , its definitely worse when cold and been sitting ...better when its warmed up. I will have to get it looked at somepoint but i think greece or bulgaria etc might be cheaper 😁

Everytime i travel through europe i think how great it is that you can just wander in and out of countries unhindered these days ...the very first trip i did to europe in early 90's there was daft border crossings and different currencies you had to out up with.

Whose ever idea it was fir a borderless europe they were a genius to be honest.

I dont care if you could still do it back then or not its definitely far easier now .....

Just this bloody 90 days to keep watch on but will see how we go .

Jackie is now in Amboise france ....shes only got 71days as she spent 17 days in greece back in September.
