Tam & co the great winter escape

South of France is pretty stunning today but fresh as it's windy. I noticed a massive change in scenery when we came out of the central massif into Southern France. I just love the dry, rocky, piney landscapes. So much nicer for winter than damp, muddy, bare trees.

Yes im much the same i think

I'm going north and it's shite, went through the Somport tunnel today. Spanish side beautiful sunshine, French side rain & sleet. The winter tyres certainly make the van shurefooted in these conditions.

Heard so much about that route thought we would give it a try on our last jaunt overseas. Ended up going over National Park Pyrenees, no thanks again. Will stick to coastal routes in future.

The Bielsa-Aragnouet tunnel is a much nicer route.

This us just before the tunnel in Feb 2019.

Looks very scenic!
Nice roads both sides, after we did it other Funsters followed and agreed its a good route. We would have come back that way this time be 'er indoors wanted to visit a monestry that was near the Somport tunnel, not one of my favourite routes. The Spanish side is fine but French side crap especially when you have and arse hole French lorry driver behind you who keeps flashing his lights and blasting his horn when you slow down to keep to the speed limits.

I have history with this Tunnel though l have been through it any number of times l ran out of Diesel at the entrance think l would be OK so l could get cheaper fuel at the Spanish end which we did after freewheeling all the way through and into the garage forecourt and the last time going over the Speed Limit if 80kph which resulted in a €80 fine. I should know better but Hey Ho.

Bad luck, but I think they have reduced the speed limit still further (according to pictures) to 70KPH = 43.49 MPH if you can see that on the Fiat Speedo.;)

Just catching up on this new adventure. What happened to the Hymer and the Vario?
It's great to see you back on the road. We can't do it at the moment due to health problems so we really enjoy travelling with you.

Decided to venture in to Austria while i had a nice dry sunny day ....what better weather to tackle mountain passes and snowy mountains. Stopped now for lunch overlooking the village of nasserieth .

Heres a few photos from the drive . I passed this ruined castle way up on a hill with this suspension bridge crossing over to it about 300 feet in the air ...and there were crazy people crossing it ...not for me lol ...but theres a couple of pics of it in this lot
