Tam & co the great winter escape

Wonderful pictures Tam, That Chapel is so quant in its location, so welcoming with its candles lit, even to a non religious person it seems to beckon you in. I see even Milo tried to open the door.:giggle:
A great peaceful place to just sit, chill out and maybe do some inner soul searching & reflection, might even get me thinking at least about life & what its all about, or is that just me at my time of life?

I have been studying those tree stump carvings for the last 30 minutes, they are quite unique, what a clever imagination & skill to create such things.
I think the one on the right was done by the "Master Carver", the two on the left of it were done by "The Improvers" somehow, what do others think?, just love em all though, would love to see the others, they are worth any detour to see.
Safe travels Tam.

Turkey is even better, open quiet roads, wild camping all the way, beautiful lakes and beaches etc, but that opens up a whole new can of worms, some do, many dont take the risk with insurance, I wouldn't hesitate if I had a "one off" :giggle:van like Tams, and of course the time & wedge to do it.
(90 days 3rd party insurance for 30 EU)(y) purchased at border with all the necessary paperwork, as seen on a Vloggers post last week.
But I do know that Tam is not going on this trip due to time constraints, bet he will next time out though.

Its not insurance for turkey that worries me its breakdown cover lol

But i dont have the time this trip as i need to be back march at the latest . And this one needs mot start of april anyway

but when cranking it the red injector light flashes when its trying to start.
Had a google with that & 1 suggestion was crankshaft sensor.n/s/f of engine, under the oil filter.
This seems more likely though,
"
it's the pressure sensor on the back of the injection pump !

3 torks bolts, pop the old one out, new one in, job done van fixed !!!"

here is no:3 cam sensor;

"
If the injector flashes during the crank could be related to one of the rev. sensors.
Check if the timing belt is set correctly.
Check if rev counter needle moves a bit during the crank. This shows if the crankshaft sensor sends the signal but does not indicate whether this signal is good or not.
Disconnect the camshaft sensor and try to start. The engine can start without cam sensor, but will be a long crank. If the engine starts without this sensor it means that this sensor is faulty."

seems a common fault.. plenty about it on iveco forum

IF! I have every confidence that Tam and the van with a bit of persuasion will make it ;)
Of course, we all do IF! He chooses to go there.

Peace is now shattered lol...another camper has turned up and it has at least a dozen sliding doors and one crying child ... And ive never heard someone fill a bucket of water making so much noise in my life ....all 50 off them or so it feels like.

Just had dinner and dogs are doing the dishes 20211107_190658.jpg

Tam, your starter problem, check that you have current coming to the glow plugs for about 10 seconds prior to engaging the starter, if not its the glow plug relay. If that is working ok the puLl the glow plugs one at a time to see if they are heating up ok. I' ve had four daily s and the plugs and injectors are accessible without taking out the engine. If you have a duff glow plug it will not heat up. It will need to be renewed. Needless to say check that there is current to all the Plugs.
God Luck.

If you decide to get the plugs checked make sure the garage physically remove them and not just remove the wires to isolate each plug then check in situ....this often gives a false reading

Back to rainy weather today ...started in the early hours and i think its to be on most of the day around here..... hopefully i will drive out of it

Many years since I've seen one. I had one in the early 70s. The protruding grille shows it was diesel rather than petrol. Mine had the Perkins 4/108, and I would get 40 mpg. Did smoke a bit labouring up steep hills though!

It was definitely a petrol ....engine was still in it ...it didnt look to bad condition overall , it could easily be saved

Hi Tam hope all is well fella. just to throw my two penneth in regards your starting issue, i had the same problem with my Renault. It just would not start until you had nearly flattened the battery. Harder to start when cold but still trouble even when it had been running ! I took it to the garage and they found a small air leak in the fuel pipe under the bonnet which was causing air to get in the fuel line. When it was running it was ok but when you stopped the fuel ran back because of the air leak which made it difficult to start again. Hope you get to the bottom of it as I know from experience its not just annoying it can be a bit embarrassing, thats why i used to wait for people to clear off before i attempted a start :giggle:
Take care fella (y)

Yes that was my first thought with it and what the previous owner had said , ill get it looked at somewhere most likely greece when i can find a small not busy garage ...i find those are often the best for old school mechanics.

Trieste wasnt pretty so i just continued on to slovenia. Having looked at coastal spots nothing caught my eye so a little inland i found a hilltop spot at castle socerb. .....with stunning views , so im going to stay here tonight . Its a pleasant change to be parked up a bit earlier as its been after 5pm every night the last week. Still dry and sunny but very windy which is making the van rock a bit....but hey its the only time it rocks these days 🤣🤣

Having issues uploading pics to here ...so the impatient can look at polarsteps and ill upload here when signal is better

Just asking ....
One was manned when I went into Slovenia a couple of years ago.
But I think it might have been more of a police thing, maybe tracking someone / thing ?
