Yeah it was a good park up for before/after the Igoumentsa ferry up until about 2015 when the nearby campsite on the peninsular re opened, then they clamped down. I wonder why?

It was 2015 we had to move onto the site for the night & real crap site.

There used to be a gap in the campsite fence you could get through and empty your loo in the toilet block. :giggle:

Then they went and spoiled it and opened up the site. (n)

Moved after lunch to korfos ....stayed here last year too. Had a doggy walk in to town which is like a ghost town ....a few interesting vehicles about though

So guys how much is it likely to cost me getting my dogs titre tested when i get home ? I really want to be able to do turkey etc on my next trip or morroco should i decide to do spain again ? And what is the process? ....im hoping i can afford it or im gonna have to sell my body or summit.

Also with the new rules on EU passports etc can i have it done in the uk or do i need the tests done in the eu

Enjoying your blog very much Tam as we are hoping to visit Greece around May time then onto Crete for a month. Would I be right in thinking the wild camping is fairly restricted now. I was of the view there were loads and loads of places to stop on the coast but you seem to be drawing some short straws with the plod. Keep Safe.

I'd get it done whilst you're away, apart from anything else it's likely to be a lot cheaper!

Its always been illegal but you can get away with it in most places. Ive only seen one plod this year but theres a few new signs around and quite a few reviews on park4night of people getting fined... But of course no one knows whether these were people sat with tables and chairs etc etc. Personally if the police tried to fine me £300 here for simply being parked i wouldn't be paying it ...id tell them to take me to court. Most of the time you never see a police car at this time of year

Problem is the waiting times for results
Have you asked how long it would take? In the UK it wasn't long at all when we had it done and that was about 13 years ago so I can't see it being any worse over there, now that it's been a while since Ela was done she hopefully will have sufficient protection to give a good result.

We've been going to Greece with the moho since 2001, usually in spring or autumn but its slowly getting a bit harder to off grid in the shoulder seasons as the number of motorhomes over there grow. Its getting to be a victim of its own success, there's just so many going over there in their vans now. Try and find places not on P4N and off the tourist trail and you should be ok. Tams got the right idea with the times he visits.

Turkey will be next on the list, what with the growing influx of vanlifers and the new appeal as a schengen bolthole.

I think the vet that did ela said around 4 weeks . But they could email results.

Not sure though

Thanks, I also have your stopovers downloaded and see some good reviews for wilding spots on SFS. I plan to do the Penopolese in May and hopefully it wont be rammed then but with so many itching to get away this year it just might be and if it is we will have the fall back option of ACSI. This will be our third attempt to visit. Fingers crossed.

Yes governments dont want vanlifers they want confirming labrats paying in to the corrupt system. The very reason more and more people are doing it 🤷🏻‍♂️

Tam, you have eu passports for the dogs I believe that if a UK vet does the Trite test and enters it in the passport it is likely that the passport will not be valid in the EU. It should be done in a EU test lab to be valid.

Hi Tam, you could consider extending your your tour by spending a few weeks in Turkey, get the titre tests done somewhere near Istanbul after entering, spend some time down on the south coast and then collect the results on your way out back to UK. I think you will be able to get the results in about four weeks ( the test labs used by Turkey are in Germany ) so that will give you some time to top up the tan ! I would be interested to see the prices for this in UK, I bet you will get your three dogs in Turkey done for less than one costs in UK. The price here in BG is around the 60GBP mark and Turkey should be cheaper still. The certificate issued is valid throughout Europe and UK so one thing less to concern any border controls !!

Tam, l am sure it might be possible, however, the Certificate is initialed and stamped to prove authentication so the scan of the Certificate to be emailed would need to be good just in case you got pulled.
Personally, l would pay for the Certificates to be sent Registered mail to your U.K. address as well as the email.

Would Turkish ones count as its not in the EU? I planned on going to Bulgaria so would that not be better

Just to relate our experience in late summer and autumn 2021.

We were on the Peloponnese for 3-4 weeks and had no problem wildcamping. We were never at locations where there were any other MHs, so maybe that made a difference, and we only stayed one night at each location.

We were also on Patmos island for 4 weeks and the same, although I never would have anticipated problems there as I have been visiting the island for over 40 years and where we were parking we are well known by the locals. Anyway we were the only MH on the island, although there was an Italian one waiting to board the ferry we arrived on. The only campsite, mostly for tents, closed 9 years ago.

I wonder whether the police actions depend on whether there is a campsite still open in the locality? If not, where can they tell you to go - another wild spot?

Geoff

The certificate is issued by the laboratory, not the vetinary practice, both TY and BG use German labs as there are no EU licensed labs in either country. With the economy in TY currently, that must be the cheapest option, plus you get to extend your 90 day nonsense plus you get more warm weather. If you decide to get it done here in BG just be prepared for slightly cooler temps, we have a -6c heatwave here just now but it won't last !

General rule is if within 1km of a campsite you will get moved on.
