Tam & co the great winter escape

Agreed, never EVER let a UK vet put anything in the dogs' EU passports otherwise they will be immediately voided (ie defacing an official document).

When we had Lily done once the test result was back the UK vet entered the info in the UK issued passport and also gave us a certificate too.
That's what i wondered. Fiddlesticks i wish i had thought of this a few weeks back

From info im getting on the mh Bulgaria Facebook group ..the vets there send the tests to Germany and takes 2 -3 weeks for results. I need a 3rd dhppi vaccination on ela done too around 13th February and having noticed that jade also needs this done i need to get hers done then too so ill need a vet there anyway.

Tam, why not arrange to get it done in say Germany at that Christian the vets place, on your way back home They can then email you the results & send you the paperwork by post?

**Yes results are up to 4 weeks as there are few laboratories in Europe that are allowed to do them

I paid 148€ here. out of that the Fee to the lab was 120€

Not a lot of difference when I looked.

As above 148€ for me.

The recent thread on here about Puerto de Mazarron stated that the byelaw they introduced was 5km from a campsite ,so covering the whole town. I think the Águilas one is similar & is stated on the signs.

There is a seperate A4 lab sheet stating all the info & the vet enters it on the titre test page no:12 in pet passport & signs ,dates & stamps it.
From info im getting Bulgaria it seems to be €60 - 100 for the test

But it wouldn't be in the passport then would it ? I figured if done in Bulgaria i can wait for results if only a couple of weeks.

Flipping confusing this im lost already

I believe that is the same result for any vet that is not within the EU, including Turkey as is being suggested. but i am happy to be proved wrong.
it would be bad if Tam got a Turkish vet to do the entry in the pet passport to save a few £ only to find the passport is void.

BUT!! i could be wrong and a Turkish vet major entry into an EU pet passport may be fine. :X3:
Thats my worry as the greek vet said turkey not in EU and it had to be an EU vet. So even if Turkey sends to Germany for tests the actual vet ordering the tests and making passport entry wouldn't be from EU ....thats my thought hence reluctant to take that chance.

when the Rabies vax is given the vet enters the date of the vaccination , signs and stamps the dogs passport.

then when the results come in the vet the enters the date and confirms the result and signs and stamps a different section in the pet passport.
or at least that is how it is in Merlins passport i have in front of me. however, his rabies test was first done in 2010, and the passports have changed at least in appearance.

Yes I believe it would be the same for any country not in the EU however I was confirming what Phil said was correct regarding the UK.

Do they enter anything in the actual passport or is it just an additional certificate that you keep with the passport? Ive asked on the Facebook motorhoming bulgaria group im on for any helpful info regarding English speaking Vets and titre test costs etc ...so far it seems they also send the tests to Germany
OK, So they enter the test in the Passport but only after they have seen sight of the Certified Titre test. Once it’s returned from Germany, you can see this in the image below.

If you are going to be travelling back to the UK along part of the same route you are going down on now you could get an EU vet on that route to do the blood tests, tootle down for a while, and then get the results entered into the PPs on your way back up.

If you see my latest post answering a question for Tam,they need the Passport to complete the Test details once they have the Test back from the Laboratory in Germany.
They appear to have the process solidly in place in order to avoid any falsifications.

Ok cool so that answers that question then ...i need to be able to return to the vet that orders the tests to have the passport filled in . That then limits the options as i need to be around there for 2 -3 weeks . So the vet in Bulgaria seems the best option for now or i leave it till next year and have it done

It already been mentioned Tam, but Bulgaria is more than a bit cold at this time of year.
Yes i know ..but i don't have many options. The people ive chatted with on the Bulgaria mh group some of which live there now permanently say the black sea coast starts to improve from 1st week in February ....usually . Not as warm as here but not snowing and a mix of cold but dry . Can't see Albania etc being any better and i don't want to go via italy etc as im out of time 18th of February unless i go out of Schengen. So if i leave Greece by the 8th and go to black sea coast i can spend time in Bulgaria romania and have 10 days left to cross Schengen late march . I need to be home march 31st.

Only option would be Bulgaria and just double back after a few weeks

Phone Christian Marks he speaks good English and won't rob you. 😁
He only charges €6 or €8 for the worming and passport stamped, ask what he charges for titre test. 😁 Bob.

Its the time that would be the concern as i will only have 10 days to travel from romania to the uk . So while i might use him for the worming etc i dont think he would get the blood test results that quick

Black sea coast is a good option ,
i worked 1 week every month between Varna and Sillistra for a few years.
Varna is right on the Black sea and quite a bit warmer than Sillistra.
sillistra is up on the Danube and the Romanian border and in January and February was very cold, i compare it with Austria or even parts of Norway for snow and temps.
what its like in other parts of Bulgaria at this time of year i dont know.
But i most certainly agree that i cant see Albania being much different and probably easier travelling through Bulgaria.

If you do decide to route through BG then the Black Sea will be the easiest way, conditions less harsh here on the coast, you have good roads up into Romania and from there you can run straight back to UK via Hungary, Austria, Germany etc, these roads are kept clear all year round. I am on the Black Sea just south of Varna and you will be welcome to base yourself here right by the beach whilst you wait for titre results, I have a good vet who I have used for 16 years. Just let me know if you need anything while you are in BG.

Sorry couldn't resist the funny. Have you got a spare pare?
I have but to be honest i ruined both pairs last year with the welding and because of the covid nonsense i couldn't get new ones in time before i left ...these were the better ones of the pair ...ive managed to glue the leg back on for now and i have my contact lenses so i won't be stuck . She doesn't know her own strength eith those big bloody paws .....got me an absolute stonker of a right hook this morning
