Tam & co the great winter escape

No lead…? 😎👍🏼
Yes shes been off the lead most of today except for our walkies as i still dont trust her to not wander . But here on the beach near the van she has been very good . Not straying too far and recall is improving but still a way to go .

Happy Birthday 4th Birthday Jade

Problem with chancing it is if you do need a test, not least the cost, it also has to be done in specific labs. There are only 2 here in spain for the test to be approved + the time that it takes to get the result.I doubt a turkish result would be accepted.

First sunrise ive seen in years ....well done Ela for telling me you needed the bathroom .

Well done Ela, two wonderful success's in one hit! A clean dry floor for Tam and starting his day with a beautiful sunrise. What more could ant hooman ask for? Good girl- I hope he gave you lots of praise and cuddles for that- before he grumped off back to bed. lol

Im having a tedious day today with the training ...im back to not being able to get her back in the van when i want her . No amount of calling , treats , food etc will get her in or even close enough to grab hold of her ....so tomorrow its back to being on a lead all the time .

Ive spent the last 45 minutes trying to get her in the van for the night my patience is running low ... Jade milo and mysel are in the van she's still outside .

Very hard to keep talking nice when im getting so frustrated.

Its blooming hard going . She's doing great in every other way ... she's just used to having a this freedom and not liking it when she doesn't get it.

Hmm Have you tried putting a little food in her dish and then call her with the dish in your hand so she thinks its feed time.

:giggler: :giggler: I think she is just testing you, you could just sit outside and totally ignore her and pretend your doing something else, that used to work with my dogs, mind you they are a completely different breed and don't like being ignored . They are nosey and they would give in in the end to see what I was doing .

Yes it's all i can do at the minute ....no idea where she is though she has gone in to a large clump of bushes and i cant get in there so i am just ignoring her but the way its going shes going to be out all night as its getting dark . 🤷🏻‍♂️ Don't know what else to do to be honest but tomorrow its back to not getting off the lead i think as she's had too much freedom and practically gone back to how she was the first few days i met her .

oh dear  thats not good is it, you don't want her wandering off in the night.. maybe she will follow you later when you take Milo and Jade out for their last pee's . fingers crossed

Silvia

hope that works out Tam, i fear you may have a wrestles night.

When are you moving on from this spot? Maybe try a bit of reverse psychology.

When she is outside and wanders off instead of coming in to the van. Get the other 2 in and start the engine then slowly move off.

Tempting as that might be, someone in a van has already befriended her and then driven off without her.

As the owner of a dog who doesn't give two hoots about me if let off the lead, I think that much patience will be needed.

Or just start the engine without moving?

Maybe she likes this place more than where you found her and wants to stay, but knows if she gets in you will all be off into the unknown(to her)

I think she's testing you, just be patient.
Praying she comes home to you tonight 🙏🙏🙏

Was it a cross-breed with a cat?

3.5 hours later she emerged from the bushes and i managed to get a hold of her and put her in the van .....thank god as i wouldn't have slept a wink tonight worrying about her ....but shes in and safe . And its now pouring down so im glad of that . As i said its sometimes 2 steps forward 1 step back and so very frustrating. But tomorrow im going back to keeping her on the leash and/or the long rope as ive lost the confidence in letting her off again. We are not that far off the road here and i just couldn't get the thought of her going on to the road and some passing car hit her. I know she can obviously pick up on my energy etc and thats why she wouldn't come but i find it very difficult to not get stressed when i can't coax her in and i can't get a hold of her etc ... I thought by now she would know im not going to hurt her but obviously she doesn't. Its such a Shame because otherwise shes had a great day ...jade and milo have been great with her today ...milo is even chancing his luck now trying to hump her lol and she's encouraging him.

Ah well tomorrow is another day as they say .

Few pics from today with the drone before she caused a riot. Dave n marsha are here now too ...they arrived last night

Tam, it looks idyllic and I’m really enjoying your adventures so please keep the reports coming. I’m so relieved you got Ela back and will hopefully now have a peaceful night. But just look how far you’ve progressed since last week. There are bound to be a few blips along the way but I suspect she knows when she’s well off. Take care all. X

One step forward, 2 steps back is not unusual with dog training, especially rescues.
You think they have the hang of something, then the next day it is like "what" :ROFLMAO:.

Don't forget her 18 months pre-Tam will have left some deeply ingrained behaviours... she might do stuff even though its not what she wants to do, but it's imprinted in her brain...
