The Dutch army is famous for the fun factor not actually doing anything constructive, on the rare occasion that we went on exercise abroad we concentrated on eating good food, other countries participating where not amused, certainly not the Germans, but then Germans seldom understand any Dutch humor.....

Yep, or tell them digging trenches on the beach wasn’t ok in 40/45 and is still not ok in modern day, but on a serious note , I know plenty of friendly Germans , but having lived in Luxembourg close to the German border , I know even more not so friendly ones, they really are lacking in the Humor department, I have friends who lived there for over 25 years and they are still treated as outsiders in the little village where they live, but having lived in Wales for 15 odd years I was always more welcome then my English other half lol

Yes we too have met many humourless peoples of all nationalities but equally many with a great sense of humour when least expected. I got that line obviously from a Dutch couple whilst at the washing up on a site in southern France one year as they were moaning about a rude German couple. It was hilarious talking with them......

I'm undecided as to whether or not you go looking for the Scot's climate or the Scot's climate goes looking for you.
I am however leaning towards the "comfort blanket" theory.

I actually very rarely get snow where i live

So after a doggy walk this morning i headed over to the marina to grab a shower ....it says on the door €0.50 for 10 minutes , €10 deposit for keycard for hot water.

So i went in to office and asked for a card , this stuck up barbie asked what boat i was on ....i said no boat im in a camper van i just want to use the shower. ...she says you can't use it as its a private marina ....i asked what was the difference? Anyone can walk in off the street , can use the atm , the shops, buy a beer , have some food , use the toilets ,handbasins etc .....so which bit exactly is private?

She just blanked me and raised her hands in the air



So i had my shower anyway ....granted it was only cold water but sod that for bullsheeite ....

I swear if i could have forced one out id have left a steaming log on the shower basin


Never heard anything so stupid in all my life


Jackie never thought to just use the cold shower lol ...she washed her hair in the bathroom sinks


I don't see the difference in who uses the showers if you leave a deposit and pay for it .....the toilets etc are not locked and i'll guarantee in the summer etc theres hundreds of people using them.

To be fair to the lady she was probably just passing on the orders and she would probably get a reet bollickin if she had let you in

Posh yachtists ...you should see the nick of some of these boats and their owners ...saw quite a few at the bar yesterday.

Anyway there's absolutely nothing to stop anyone from using those facilities ...the only thing you need a card for is hot water . So i still used them regardless of their daft policies.

Jackies heading off now to patras ....shes ran out of gas so needs to find a camping gaz refill somewhere. But shes also in a hurry to get south in hope of nicer weather. Weather forecast shows rain for like the next 2 weeks bar Wednesday which looks sunny.

But you never know if its correct or not as it hasn't always been.

Im not sure what to do myself ...i originally planned to spend a bit longer up this part as i missed most of it last year and i feel like im missing something at times ....but then im also a bit fed up with the rain ....its not cold ...17° today and intermittent weather ...i mean thats the sky out one window

And this is out the opposite one

But i really would like to find somewhere thats warm dry and sunny preferably on the beach for a few days so i can just chill.

Can't really stay still in this weather as i don't get much from my solar and theres not much to do in the rain

Yes mine too ...very disappointed as it was a lovely spot and a nice little town .

Ive driven a little south to karivostasi and another little bay ... hopefully I get left in peace here ...jackie is still in igoumenitsa at the vodaphone shop trying to sort out her internet .
The first 3 photos are from sivota ....the others are from where i am now .

I think from here im going to head inland a little this time as i would like to see the meteora monestaries and try to take pics with the drone before i head any further south . Depending whether i get moved on from here will decide whether i head that way tomorrow or Wednesday as im a little weary from driving.

She's gone off ahead ...i think ill stay on lefkada another night ...theres a waterfall im going to go check out after lunch ...i could be doing with a couple of days just me and the dogs anyway so ill let her go off on her own and ill perhaps catch up in a few days . That said i wouldn't mind meeting some other travelers as ive not seen many this year

If you take your soap and towel to the waterfall, you could stay under it as long as you wished. (We KNOW that's what your up to! )

PS. I hate to tell you BUT it was nice and warm here in EA when I went for a walk yesterday, that WAS between the small snow flurries, of course!

You couldn't make it up ...but when i left for the waterfall it was dry and sunny ....parked up and got out to hike up to it ...not far only 30 minute walk from carpark it said ....so off we went ...me thinking all the rain weve had it should be quite impressive ....Nice but not as much water as i expected ...and then the heavens oppened ....bloody torrential rain so both dogs and myself soaking. Nearly fell on my ass a few times on the way back to the van too ...hiking boots with crap slippy soles. So back in the van now with hot chocolate. .....bloody weather
