Why are you so surprised when you had been driving past snow poles for many kilometres?

I told you last year to head down to Crete. Or Cyprus then you could stay as long as you want because it is not in Schengen.

However I am glad you turned around as you were driving faster than I would have, just because I could not be sure that the fresh snow was not on top of a layer of ice/compacted snow, my skiing experience clicking in.

In ioannina now ....arrived awhile ago but done a lidl shop before parking up ...im overlooking the lake near the castle ....lovely views. Went for a walk with the dogs but its not warm out there.

Jackie is just south of syvota ....still stormy and raining there but she wanted a day without driving . I could do with that myself but i also want to get south a bit next week so i thought id do the monestaries now and then head towards lefkada for a couple of days ... But hey ho.


Ill have a walk around the old town here tomorrow then head off again.

24 today in Cyprus but they are not starting the ferry till next yr.

We're doing Cyprus jan - mar next year (flying and apartment rather than van)

It looks a good option weather wise, and could get busy being non - schengan!

Where abouts are you staying, any recommendations?
We will be in Pathos, not far from the old town.

Lefkada is a beautiful island which you can drive onto, plenty of places to park in lefkas town, nidri/vlicho and vasiliki. If you drive around the amvriaticus gulf on you way south at the eastern end the towns of arta and amfliochio are worth a visit.
